@@dennisthemenace3695 lol baddy....well suppose that also mean you never unlocked the cheat codes by beating the levels very quickly...only level that was poorly designed was the one that were so dark you could not see enemies :S..the 1 where you gotta meet mr.valentine..i would of understand if you had for that level but not Aztec :S...i think jungle was also very crappy for visibility(camo enemies yikes :S)...hopefully you dropped your cheating ways since those days.....can't say i haven't use some cheats when i was young but not that lowly XD..although in my case it was more of an assist then doing things for me(map reveal cheat to orient myself in Diablo 2)
Hard fricken level right here. Level designer was criminally insane to put four turrets and four guys behind cover with pinpoint accuracy in that big room, AND the infinite laser guys spawning after killing Jaws. Even the very beginning is a pain in the ass with those three guys flanking you in your tiny alcove.

It is, but I shudder whenever I start a custom level from N64 Vault, and this music plays, cos every level that uses this music is hard or insanely hard, even more so than Aztec (I always play on 00 Agent now lol)

I remember the first time I found out (I think through Gamefaqs, before the days of TH-cam) that there was a way you could cheese Jaws by literally running right up to him and shooting away. Jaws always shoots with his arms fully extended, so they would clip through you and he would never hit you, provided you were able to stay right up against him XP
It's ever so easy to mistake this spectacular soundtrack as something from Perfect Dark, at first. And that can only be a VERY good thing. *Suddenly has the desire to play through Goldeneye, and then Perfect Dark, back to back, from start to finish.
Awesome song, fitting for one of the hardest levels in video gaming history. WHY, Rare? I can beat Cradle on 00 Agent yet I can't even beat this on AGENT. This music screams "you can't win" to me.
Yeah in Cradle you can see bad guys coming from far away and whittle down their health to zero before they even begin to shoot at you. In Aztec things are a lot more cramped and less easy to keep track of, not to mention enemies armed with deadlier weapons.
this level really gets your heart pumping especially at the end when you climb the ladder but you still have those random dudes with lazer beams after you, it gets scary
I think this song is very clever in is thematic "Aztec" idea. Perhaps, a bit too good for such a video game. In fact, I suspect that this video game album is probably better than the album for the film. At the time, the film's score was using quiet too many modern music bits (the 90's bits that is)

The game is hard on 00 agent, it's because of the enemy's gun or their accuracy. The AR33 rifle is a strong gun, the laser is much stronger so be careful. It's best to aim for the enemy's head.

Indeed. I don't even know if it was even possible, I had to cheat to beat most levels on 00 Agent. It's so difficult and unforgiving that it's not fun. The 4th difficulty might be worth the trouble though.

It's interesting considering that Aztec is located in Teotihuacan, Mexico, but in the movie "Moonraker" is located in Iguacu Falls (near the Amazon River), Brazil. Did you know that the pyramids (from the Mayan civilization, by the way) from the movie "Moonraker" were filmed in Guatemala (birthplace of the Mayan culture along with Mexico)?

I have completed the game 100% I can barely beat this level on Secret Agent the 'intended way'. On 00 Agent I need to use 'Stuck Mainframe' glitch to skip Jaws and half the level too! I then only barely survive completing it on 00 Agent! This level is beyond extremely tough! It's Secret Agent difficulty is 'possibly' harder than all other levels 00 Agent difficulties 'when' you aim to beat it the 'intended way' on Secret Agent, it's that hard!!!!! Hardest Target Time would be either Cavern's or Egyptian's for extremely 'different' reasons. Firstly, Egyptian has an incredibly easy level and Target Time, for me anyway. The thing that makes it SO HARD is unlocking access to Egyptian!!!! Cavern's Target Time in my opinion is by far the hardest Target Time to attempt!!!! 2nd hardest Target Time in my opinion is Train's!!!!! Facilitie's Target Time is tough but I disagree with many that it's the hardest Target Time in the game!!!! In my opinion, Facility has the 5th-6th hardest Target Time. Bunker 1, Aztec, Train and Caverns all have harder Targets as well as Egyptian because it's so TOUGH to access Egyptian's easy level, (all harder than Facility Target Time). Aztec is so tough to beat even on Secret Agent doing it the 'intended way'!!!!!! Barely survived it on Secret Agent as intended completion method.
I beat Aztec 3 separate times on 3 different files that I did when I was 13 years old on 00 agent. The two second times I beat it in less than 2-3 tries

I agree with the consensus that this level was a nightmare on 00 Agent, but at least I was able to complete it... I wasn't able to complete some of the earlier missions on 00 Agent (Control Centre being the one I really remember) and had to get helped by my boyfriend's brother (who in turn wasn't able to do this mission... Guess we have different strengths).
I remember screaming at the top of my lungs when I finally beat this on 00 Agent. So many times I'd get SO SO close and have one bar of health left and I'd get shot during that launch countdown at the end....
I don't understand why people say Control was harder than Aztec on 00 agent... Control only requires skills, Aztec requires skill AND luck. That makes Aztec the hardest level to me...
I once dreamt i was escaping from inside a dark aztec pyramid with this music playing when i was a kid only to find out that my uncle was playing this level lol i still remember that vivid dream bc of this music. Its crazy how a track can leave an impression

I remember 6 year old me, not even aware of the amount of shit i was getting myself into when i selected this level. As soon as the game starts, i take a few steps forward and die! Lmao! Eventually i made it past and jumped down into the dark pit that led to Jaws. I took the baddies out and thought to myself, "so far so good, this is great progress". I enter the long hallway, and all the way at the end, i could see this giant shooting towards me. If i could give a reaction word to that moment it would have to be "fuuuuuuuuuuck!" Hahah. So i ran back trying to hide behind corners, but Jaws eventually got up to me and annihilated my ass! I learnt that day, to always be cautious when walking into strange Aztec temples.
@HansHorstification Have you PLAYED the other stages on 00 Agent? The Control on 00 Agent is a billion times harder than the Aztec on Agent. But Aztec on 00 Agent is indisputably the hardest.

This level was a nightmare especially with Jaws and his double AR33 Assault rifles
It took me a while to work out the friggin puzzle to this level, but the music always brought me bk to keep trying again.
The game is hard on 00 agent, it's because of the enemy's gun or their accuracy. The AR33 rifle is a strong gun, the laser is much stronger so be careful. It's best to aim for the enemy's head.
The ar-33 is actually a m-16a2

I enter the long hallway, and all the way at the end, i could see this giant shooting towards me. If i could give a reaction word to that moment it would have to be "fuuuuuuuuuuck!" Hahah.
So i ran back trying to hide behind corners, but Jaws eventually got up to me and annihilated my ass!
I learnt that day, to always be cautious when walking into strange Aztec temples.
Even when you have All Guns and Infinite Ammo activated, this level is tough.
I think is is the hardest level in the entire game! Jaws is one crazy guy lol! First thing I wanted to do is get the lazers. Amazing tune!
For some reason, this song reminds me of a sort of "Tango of Death".
Especially considering how hard this level was.
If you take damage in the first two rooms - restart.

@HansHorstification Have you PLAYED the other stages on 00 Agent? The Control on 00 Agent is a billion times harder than the Aztec on Agent. But Aztec on 00 Agent is indisputably the hardest.

This stage STILL gives me nightmares from how many times i had to attempt beating it on 007 difficulty
Playing this on the xbox. I'm stuck on this level on secret agent always die on the last bit lol
My advice is to activate the panel on the ladder before you kill jaws, that way you don’t have to take hits going up there after you kill him.

control in the beginning was a bit hard, but after a few deadly endings not really.
in aztec i tried it a perceived eternity to unlock egypt.
And Yes, i started on agent.
