I always look forward to videos like this! The journey along with the music and edits makes me want to get out and explore the world around me more often. Very inspiring! Looking forward to whats next for y'all!
HS!!! That was epic. I was thinking you guys weren't even human til you popped open some beers when you made it back to camp. Seriously, you two are an inspiration.
your openness about your doubts, challenges is so good- as a viewer, it really helps me connect to your stories. You are two courageous, adventurous people :)
Good to know! Always looking for ways to improve and share more real life stuff. Thanks so much for your continued support. Nice camp fire flair you’ve got there! ☺️
Man, I solo hiked the Crystal Range back in like 2009. I went up the trail from Twin Bridges after work on a Friday, and camped halfway up Pyramid, then hiked all the way to Mt. Price and down to Clyde Lake the following day. You guys are badass for climbing up that ridgeline after Pyramid - I started up and then chickened out, and hiked the snowline on the eastern face up to that unnamed peak. From the backside to Mt. Agassiz took forever, as well as the hike down from Price - I didn't have any snow to glissade down 😭. The following day, I summited Dicks Peak all the way over to Tallac with plans to do Ralston Peak, but I was burned out by then, so I went down via Gilmore lake to Lake of the Woods and then down Horsetail Falls back to my car. What you didn't capture was the massive fields of shale coming down the peaks - especially Pyramid - that threatened to start a rock slide as you descend. And I know that traverse over to Agassiz was worse than what you showed in your video. Thanks for the trip down memory lane!
Haha yeah we really need to show a little more of the struggle next time. Hard to have the motivation to film when you’re trying not to break your ankle 😂
This. This. THIS! kind of video! Been waiting for you all to get back to this kind of stuff and ya'll delivered! Great stuff, Cody and Victoria. Love ya'll so much! ❤
Horsetail falls is my favorite way in thank you for making this video. I am just about 40 and been going there since I was 16, my brother is 19 and showed interest in backpacking for the first time and wants to take the Pyramid creek trail in. I am going to show him your video it will be a heck of a first 3 day trip for him but once he gets to the top he will be in love. side not i will be slow and out of shape lol it will be a long hike.
Thank You for the spectacular adventure. I was surprised that you couldn't see Lake Tahoe from Pyramid Peak or from some vantage point along your hike. Thank You for you interesting videos and the links to equipment and map locations.
epic this is the hard part of the traverse, the north crystal range can be acessed via rockbound pass or loon lake if you want to go south it is also much easier, it includes brown McConnel, silver and red peaks. well done its only fun after words
"I will never do this again" 😂 LOL - I must inform you - the TH-cam norm is to say how awesome everything is. How dare you break the facade and say it wasn't fun! 😂😂😂 I'm working my way UP to a 5 mile hike. You guys are amazing!
You’ll be shocked to hear in our last gear video we said “I don’t care if you buy any of this stuff” haha. Just trying to keep it real on this channel 😛
Love the backcountry backpacking videos. Hopefully doggo can come to the next one in a dog friendly location :) I always love seeing these backcountry locations in the US and how they compare to Alberta mountains. Desolation W looks really pretty.
That was epic! And a great adventure even if it kind of sucked haha. Always enjoy the colour grading of your videos, but really liked the film sim on the photos.
Yeah, the pyramid peak is simply too steep. We qent to lake Aloha via Pyramid creek a week earlier. There were thinderstorms all over the place. And we also jad that but slide on the snow hill ;)
Whenever I see your video, it makes me think of how cool it would be to see the beautiful nature with someone you so fall in love with. Good for you two. I can see some sketchy sections! Kudos to both of you and gonna say always stay safe😊😊
Next week I'm there! I was going to tie this into my TRT loop back in '22 but I was a wreck by this point. I did a chunk of the YHR last year, but have never done a sustained ridge traverse before. Something about them is so appealing! We'll see how I feel about them AFTER... 😅 The shot at 13:45 with the ridge lined up in the background is lovely, btw.
Survived! 3 days would have been ideal. I camped near Pyramid Lake and didn't get down to Mosquito Pass until just after dark! (Only patchy soft snow, but I massively underestimated getting down from Price.) And then I still had to hike all the way out to Echo Lake TH... At 3am I was happy to find I hadn't been ticketed or towed for overstaying my permit! But feeling real rough otherwise. I don't know where the hell you were at 12:10! The snow definitely forced you right up onto the ridge in places where I had more freedom. That damned boulder field just would NOT end though. Much slower going than expected. Oh and no basecamp for me, but I wasn't carrying Nalgene bottles and metal grinders or anything crazy like that! 😅
Whoa, Pyramid is not easy, even in the summer, and that ridgeline looked scary! Thanks for doing it so I don't have to, haha... Just curious, how heavy were your packs? They looked light.
Nice work on the route and capturing the vibe through the edit! I'd call the traverse fun, but I've only done it from the west side out of Lyons Creek drainage with no snow. Grateful for the beta on the zone, since we have permits for Deso this weekend with hopes of hitting the Fountain of Youth. Wondering if there will even be a pond to skim yet though? Either way, we're sending it with boards in hopes of at least getting some turns. How bad were the sun cups and runnels on the steeps?
You guys crushed it, as usual! Pyramid is hard enough on its own. 😂 We had Deso permits this last weekend too and cancelled them in favor of van camping. Lol. Still so much snow!! You’re way braver than us.
I’m using them as a base but I’ve been dialing in a bit of a new workflow now that I’m in Davinci Resolve. I should really work on getting something new in the store… 🤔
Did y’all have to overcome any height fears to do these hikes/climbs? Love your content! I wish I lived somewhere with decent hiking at the least 😩 -Bekah from Bama ❤️
Did you guys exit out of Eagle Lake TH? I thought I saw two who looked like you coming out and a woman with beers in her hand. I was backpacking with my 6 year old for his first trip :) Also, I had thought of doing that traverse and peak bagging, but after watching this, I am good. Have done Pyramid and the rest of it looks like sketchy.
Ah love this, I don’t know if I’ll ever do that but it’s great to watch haha. My incline skills are weak, are you guys mainly using fujifilm now btw???
First time watcher here and awesome video and storytelling! Question... What kind of sunglasses are those orange ones with the sun shield? Cause they are freakin cool looking and I cant find them on google... haha. Regardless, nice work, yall earned a sub from me!

I am so glad you are posting videos like this again. You don't need to live in van and travel the world to make fun to watch content. Keep it up!
I've missed the backpacking videos, love to see it!
Tons more coming soon! Feels good to be back
I could tell by the first few words that were said that spirits were high! We love to see it. And of course the sound totally makes it, good work.
Oh wow!! Those landscapes worth the effort! Loved the message in the metal box!
I love your advetures and i hope this will never change with stuid commercial breaks.
Love the music
Happy to see y'all in the back-country again! Such a beautiful area.... Oh to be young and insane again! Always enjoy your videos!
Thanks friends :) hope you find some time to get outside
Wow, awesome and scary. Vic's glasses! Super video.
I used to love doing ridge line traverses. I haven't done any in a while though. And love the batsquatch at the end. 😍🤙👍
Love to see it!!!

Yikes, that was gnarly & sketchy sections. Gorgeous views! Congrats!
A little more snow than expected 😅
Love!
Great to see you backpacking again! Really loving the vibes of this trip. Digging the music too. Thanks for bringing us along!
Such amazing color grading

Wonderful video! Good job guys! ☺️👍🏼
This was sick! Great adventure with type 2 (or even 3) fun 🤙

Awesome! I hope your brother has a good time! Let him know that he won't have to hike on any snowfields like we did😅
Always impressed of Victoria's camera carrying skills on such difficult climbs!
Great video! Can’t wait for the next one. Backpacking is sick!
This isn't the kind of backpacking I'm familiar with, this is off trail and early season tough stuff!
This is rad! I totally wanna do this same traverse!
Thank You for the spectacular adventure. I was surprised that you couldn't see Lake Tahoe from Pyramid Peak or from some vantage point along your hike.
Thank You for you interesting videos and the links to equipment and map locations.
I’m sure you could see it! It’s definitely off in the distance though
Your best video!
Just wait until I invite you guys to do it in the snow!...
epic this is the hard part of the traverse, the north crystal range can be acessed via rockbound pass or loon lake if you want to go south it is also much easier, it includes brown McConnel, silver and red peaks. well done its only fun after words
Sweet adventure mission! Good job capturing it too!
I can't believe you havent touched those new walking sticks

Yeah it’s tough when we can’t bring Hazel 🐶 but sometimes it’s a little too technical for her. Hopefully she’ll join us on a trip real soon!
Aw man. What a lovely intro
I like those packs!
and the magic happens in the end 😅🍻
Haha locals secret 😛
That was epic! And a great adventure even if it kind of sucked haha. Always enjoy the colour grading of your videos, but really liked the film sim on the photos.
Awesome video! Your outdoor content is always amazing!

You two are so cool and cute 😂
I laughed so hard when victoria answered your question. You asked how she was and all she said was she was hungry haha love you guys! Thank you😊😊
Hunger is a common theme in our lives 😅🍔🌮🌯
Whenever I see your video, it makes me think of how cool it would be to see the beautiful nature with someone you so fall in love with. Good for you two.

Those are the best beers
Not bad after a long day! 😜
Instant subbbb!!
🥸
Love the scenery. Guess I am old school and out of touch, but what ever happened to hiking in nice waterproof boots.
I’m sure people still do that. Newer shoes are lighter and more comfortable IMO
Enjoyable content per usual
❤️
Victoria what brand are your sunglasses?!? So happy to see the backpacking videos again!!! They bring my boyfriend and I so much joy!
Whoa, Pyramid is not easy, even in the summer, and that ridgeline looked scary! Thanks for doing it so I don't have to, haha... Just curious, how heavy were your packs? They looked light.
You guys are kind of funny, being scared of the exposed areas, when you have climbed up the walls of whitney, with your ropes.
Ropes is less scary 😅
Congrats on that trip, sad to see all those burnt trees.😢
Yeah it’s too bad. Caldor fire did a number on the area
Nice work on the route and capturing the vibe through the edit! I'd call the traverse fun, but I've only done it from the west side out of Lyons Creek drainage with no snow. FOY wasn’t even close two weeks ago. Probably some turns to be had though
Horsetail Falls is a tug. Your traverse was pretty tough.
You guys crushed it, as usual! Pyramid is hard enough on its own. 😂 We had Deso permits this last weekend too and cancelled them in favor of van camping. Lol. Still so much snow!! You’re way braver than us.
Ha probably a good call. Still so much snow out there
Awesome trip... did you happen to see if the Fountain of Youth was starting to form? (Lake Aloha side between that unnamed 9.6k and Agassiz)
Not even close. There’s a few secret ponds on the backside of pyramid tho that look enticing. Not sure the best approach…
Hey I was just there last weekend!
So were we! Just missed ya I guess
Awesome video 🤙 you don’t realise how big our world is until you see something like this 🤯 beautiful! Also - What’s the song called ? 🔥
Which song?
@@codyandvictoria The one at the end sorry 🤙🤙
I'm not happy about no ropes. You guys crushed it, MOM
how do you like your new TNF packs?
Love them! They were perfect for this style of trip. As for the pants I found them at a thrift store but they’re made by the north face
did you use blueluts pack 11 - slog3 luts for this video?
I’m using them as a base but I’ve been dialing in a bit of a new workflow now that I’m in Davinci Resolve. I should really work on getting something new in the store… 🤔
@@codyandvictoria aside from ur base, did you use additional lut to achieve that color?
@@codyandvictoria Im a fan of your works and I've been using your luts since 2019
What Film Cam is that?
Did y’all have to overcome any height fears to do these hikes/climbs?
Love your content! I wish I lived somewhere with decent hiking at the least 😩
-Bekah from Bama ❤️
We’ve never been afraid of heights really. There’s definitely some fear to get over with roped climbing but we’ve steadily gained confidence.
Did you guys exit out of Eagle Lake TH? I thought I saw two who looked like you coming out and a woman with beers in her hand. I was backpacking with my 6 year old for his first trip :)
Also, I had thought of doing that traverse and peak bagging, but after watching this, I am good. Have done Pyramid and the rest of it looks like sketchy.
We exited pyramid creek
Ah love this, I don’t know if I’ll ever do that but it’s great to watch haha. My incline skills are weak, are you guys mainly using fujifilm now btw???
Can always improve the skills! Still on Sony for now 🤘🏼
What entrance did you go in on?
Pyramid creek trail
First time watcher here and awesome video and storytelling! Question... What kind of sunglasses are those orange ones with the sun shield? Cause they are freakin cool looking and I cant find them on google... haha. Regardless, nice work, yall earned a sub from me!
Here ya go! a.co/d/i1Y4yt3
What sunglasses does Victoria have? Or do you all have a link I can purchase them?
Here you go! These aren’t the exact model but they might as well be. amzn.to/43S6sh7
Victoria got hers in Mexico
Where are bikes :D
what pants are you wearing Victoria?
My Apache was mad his BF wasn't in the video...
hi guys , dont mean to be a Chad but didnt u guys break the desolation rule by not bringing a bear can?
We have/had a bear can. You can literally see it at 0:05. Thanks chad 😉
Any plans for India 🇮🇳! Himalayas? 🏔
We’re thinking about it 😬
No ropes? Not liking sketchy. Mom's not going to like that!
Haha not sketchy enough to need ropes 😛
Haha y’all got to try it find out if you liked it 🥲
