Mad respect! Every time I see these amazing climbing shots I ask myself 'are they not even a little bit afraid of those heights?' It's a joy to comfortably admire these scenes from my safe couch.
Ah, the famous and dreaded couch, second home of climbers! (I have been but a Belay Slave, captured and caravanned far from home to be sold at auctions, though absent bellydance skills. Buyers must have been bedazzled by granite, methinks)
Guys we are new to rock climbing and we love it! Thanks for sharing tour adventures, you show us that the world is full of beautiful moments and unique views. I hope in 3-4 years to look like you guys!
I've hiked to the top of this peak twice and it's just so beautiful. One of my absolute favorites. My great uncle and aunt were 2 of the first four people to climb the Double Dihedral route on Matterhorn back in 1965. They were super cool. Thanks for sharing!
Awesome video. You really captured the alpine climbing experience. Doing it as a couple is really special as well. And your video production is top notch.
Sick Work! Passing this climb to scramble up the backside scree field inspired me to start climbing outdoors and learning Trad. I haven't worked my way back yet to conquer the hard way but it's on the to-do list!
Congrats to you both for accomplishing something as challenging as this. As a climber, I know that feeling of setting out on something big for the first time. You are an inspiration to my wife and I!! One of your best videos.
This was an epic one! Really cool to see you guys growing as climbers. Not so long ago you went climbing for the first time and here you are on top of the Matterhorn peak. Well done 👏🏻
Super fun to watch...Thanks... I took my son up that route for his high school graduation. Last year I tried to ski the couloir.. but only got half way up and freaked out. Skied back to the little lake.
Nice job! I've been a subscriber for a long time now, and I have always loved the handheld look of your videos. I still have no idea how you get that movement into your tripod shots, but I absolutely love it!! Keep doing what you're doing!
What adventure ! 🤩 Like as alway aperfect mix with nature and hiking. We love it! It seems to be out there with you! Very adventurous trip. Thank you for sharing! New subscriber 💚
If you slip, learn to twist around& set your ice axe. You have to PRACTICE this, many times, BEFORE you put yourself into that sitch. Another thing. Me & the Wolf were in the Evolution range one August, wise enough NOT to posthole through snow in PM, instead camping . early morning you can chip your steps in snow that will sink you to your hips in PM. We have noted people rushing down, and in AM found their suffering postholes, easily glissading or supported where they had led the Gulag life. (Though i traversed someglacier elsewhere above six foot or more drops into cold tarns which give NO chance to get out - think floating corpsicle - i DO recommend suitable spikes & learning all the cute lil ice axy things.)
Wow so awesome! Congrats on the accomplishment!! I just did a pretty challenging scramble to the top of a spire in the Bugaboos today and it felt like a huge accomplishment. I can’t imagine climbing like you guys did here, but now I’m wondering if it’s something I want to take on one day!
You guys are the most badass couple! This was a particularly enjoyable video for the incredible exposures, the tough climb, and the emotional togetherness of the two of you. Its also very interesting that your physical capabilities seem to be very similar in these tough challenges.
Thanks for the huge compliment!! Every time one of us gets a step ahead, the other immediately catches up. 😅 We will be on the same level forever haha.
@@codyandvictoriaHi Cody. I also think that it would have been a proper way to navigate that snow patch with an ice axe and at least a pair of 10 point crampons. There is no way to arrest a slip and fall with trekking poles. But I also belive that it is up to each person to choose how safe or less safe they want to make their outdoors adventures. Aside of that, the video footage and the approach to the base of the climb and the climb itself were a blast to watch. You are an amazing talented couple. A joy to watch. 😊👍
Seriously guys, one of the best videos you have done! Loving the new documentary style format as others have said. Always loved the style, colors, music, etc…but this one really made us feel like we were there, in the adventure with you. Really fuels my adventure fire haha. Also, not sure if y’all will see this but Cody where did you get the pants?! I want to get my husband some - I bet he’d like them! And Victoria - I literally have that hat in my shopping cart lol. Anyway, great video you guys!
Hey! Thanks so much for the kind words. We’re hoping to keep dipping our toes in this style so glad it’s working! Cody’s pants are from Kühl. He has been looking for great outdoor pants for a really long time and is very happy with those ones. In the video are the Suppressor Joggers. He also likes the Renegade Rock pants. 🙌🏼 Find them here :) snp.link/34d1bdc8 Also the hat is amazing ❤️
Planning to hike Twinn lakes to Mule/burro passes in a week and around bensen lake------looks like a bit of snow still------were mule/burro pretty clear ???? thanks
The production value is just fantastic! Ya'll look so happy doing these backcountry type videos and no longer doing van life. I have been loving the value you both are bringing back to this channel.🥹❤
Great story telling as usual! I wonder why I never see people in the states using half ropes on alpine climbs especially when the rock is that fragile? :)
You can also climb from the backside. I did it in 2017. The last bit is class 3, or class 4 if you pick a bad route. Not a casual summit from any approach.
For climbing gear definitely it helps because we share. Also if you need a bear canister. 50L might be nice if you’re alone and don’t want to go SUPER light.
Ooh man we were pretty green for this climb so probably total over kill. There’s a shot in the video somewhere that you might be able to pause and see the gear. I think we brought doubles to #3. It’s a 5.6 or 5.7 though so if you’re pretty experienced you won’t need a ton.
@codyandvictoria I know its weird to make a request but any chance you could make a video of how you self taught your self to climb? I'm from the east coast and have been stuck bouldering inside, since on the east coast almost everyone boulders and doesn't do this form of climbing. Just a thought but would like to hear your journey and process.
Not weird. Requests are cool. We’ve thought about doing this video but I’d hate for someone to die 😅 I would start with purchasing “Mountaineering: Freedom of the Hills”
@@codyandvictoria true but what if you have to bail on the route? What if your next alpine adventure doesn't have a down climb option? Giving you something to think about to help improve your climbing. That's why I love climbing, so much to learn and improve on.
@@codyandvictoria downside to those methods is the rope tends to get stuck more when pulling them. Simul repelling works if the two people are tethered together, or the ends will not be the same length. Lots of problems, just have to work through them. As with anything in life.

Yay, Cody and Victoria climbing video! Looked like a lot of fun - very adventurous. So, so different from sport climbing.

Half ropes just aren’t really a thing over here. No idea why that’s the case. 🤷🏼♂️
A most excellent vid! Which side is the 'non-gear' ascent please?
No gear goes up the couloir that we hiked up to the climb. Just follow it the whole way. You’ll probably still want a helmet at least.

@@BurnsRubber thanks dude 🙏
I’ll have to get a bit of scrambling experience first I think 👍

Hey! It’s made by coal headwear. Found it on Amazon 🤙🏼
Is there an easier part to climb? My friends are climbing on August 1/2. I doubt they have ropes and climbing gear.

Because we say “this is how we learned how to climb” then someone buys a book or watches a video we recommend, they try it, they die. 😅
