Birds songs are délicious like a fresh drink, and the images of train impressive in this beautiful lovable countryside. Thank you very much for the quality of sounds and colours.
6 minutes of pure joy and what a delight to see SNG with a rack of coaches. Beautiful and the sound of that whistle again. I lost years of my life just hearing that. Thank you for the video seems very inadequate.
I lived at Normanton, handy for Doncaster and York. Weekends were full of these beauties. It wasn't until we moved to Winchester that I could buy a platform ticket to sit for the aftenoon and take in the drivers pushing the throttle fully open before Eastleigh. I
Brilliant video Liam and Phil. SNG looks fantastic in black livery. It’s great to see her pulling carriages again. What a superb sight. Enjoyable watching. Kind regards C&A
Lovely video - an absolute pleasure to watch - and really love the British countryside. As a primary school student in the Mallee in Australia, used to hear the steam whistle way before the big steam engine went past school. We inevitably (despite contrary instructions from teacher) counted the wagons. Best I recall was about 60 small open wheat wagons. No idea what type of engines were used.
What a lovely video, absolutely great to see Sir Nigel running again. Must feel nice to stretch those wheels after 7 years : ) I saw her in 2019 at the NRM, still in a thousand bits. Very glad to have an A4 back on the main line!! Such magnificent engines they are. Really hope to meet her in real life sometime soon.
Very nice. This engine has one of the few British whistles I really like, Being US, I'm used to lower pitches. When I win the lottery (ha) I'm going on a rail tour for about a year, will definitely not miss this one.
I love this black livery, even if the LNER lettering is said not be correct. It is correct because it is 'Sir Nigel Gresley's ' own preserved livery. If Hornby or Bachmann produce a model, I want one!
Now that's a idea gwr if you're listening a ten car sleeper train hauled by a a4 with a 57 on the end would be so cool u could charge almost anything and people would pay it
Not keen on the wartime livery. It was applied for nighttime blackout running. My father was bombed travelling from Portsmouth Naval Depot to Scapa Flow. The L.N.E.R. blue pre-war is much more attractive, as are the post war blue and Brunswick Green!. We’re they perhaps recalling the Wren 00 gauge locomotives in their similarly drab wartime Black?.
Great video of a classic engine and a great engineer! (LNER forever). I can understand why train crews of regular services don't acknowledge enthusiasts, but I do think drivers and firemen should get into the spirit of things on these special occasions. 1:55 A simple wave gentlemen/ladies. It's not difficult and costs nothing. 👍
I'd agree with you if this was public service. In reality the railway is closed and the locomotive is being put through its paces and I'd imagine the fireman and driver will have an eye on other things.
For a minute I thought they painted Gresley in BR green or a similar green to Union of south africa or Dwight D Eisenhower Guess it’s the reflection of the sun
As a kid these are my childhood memories. Gresley. Evening star. I have asked when these locos are running but never get a reply. More information has to be put out
Well the Caledonian Sleeper has MK5 coaches now and there are very few HST's about. So I think the SVR might actually own those MK3's Air Brake testing could be a reason but MK3's also weight a little more.
I know they plan on painting it in BR blue for its return to the main line but it would be nice if they kept it in wartime black for awhile, I think it looks nice. One livery I’d like to see is BR garter blue, a livery it briefly carried in the early BR days after the war.
Great Locomotive in action. I remember seeing SNG at Carnforth years ago when she was in Garter Blue. By the way, the present livery is correct apart from the letters should be NE not LNER for the wartime colour scheme!
Sir Nigel Gresley has the same heavy test train as Britannia had. Why wasn't she tested with a full rake of Mk. 1 coaches? In my opinion, Mk. 1 coaches are lighter and easier for the A4 to handle, especially when puffing up Eardington Bank. Nice video in any case. Love the sound of an A4.😂🙃
Marveless pictures in a nicr scenery!
Many thanks.
Birds songs are délicious like a fresh drink, and the images of train impressive in this beautiful lovable countryside. Thank you very much for the quality of sounds and colours.
I will always love hearing that whistle…
sounding magnificent, looks fantastic in black, shame they wont keep it
Good to see the old girl back and also the A4s being represented again
6 minutes of pure joy and what a delight to see SNG with a rack of coaches. Beautiful and the sound of that whistle again. I lost years of my life just hearing that. Thank you for the video seems very inadequate.
"Hope you enjoy the video", well I certainly did! Doesn't the whistle sound so evocative.
Great to hear the chime & the Gresley beat again - still prefer Garter blue though. Thanks for the pics. Great to see them in France.
Lovely video of Sir Nigel Gresley. She’s an absolutely beautiful steam engine.
That opening photo would make a fabulous jigsaw puzzle , lovely to see SNG back
albeit electronically, have done so with my own photos...take a screenshot 🍷
Absolutely beautiful, what an engine. Great footage
Thanks for sharing. Great to see her running again. All credit to all who have worked on the rebuild.
First class job to whoever set the valve timing.
Even with the incongruous coach set SNG looks and sounds so elegant. Thanks, Liam and Phil for these superb captures. Kind regards, Bob.

Cheers Bob, any coaches would of done, just great to see her running on a full train or sorts.
This is a 'chocolate box' video if ever there was one. Super camera work again guys 👏👏👏. Thanks.
Brilliant video Liam and Phil. SNG looks fantastic in black livery. It’s great to see her pulling carriages again. What a superb sight. Enjoyable watching. Kind regards C&A
Cheers C&A looking forward to its mainline return in May.
That since March last month was cause problem with teething
Supurb video of Sir Nigel looking good and sounding even better ❤️ sadly the only A4 in steam 😕thanks very much for sharing 👍
An A4 on a string of Mk3s looks so stellar. Awesome to see this engine back up and running. Roll on, Sir Nigel Gresley, all the best from California.
She’s like a proper express engine
Will be again shortly.
@@TheBrickGuy7939 yeah
I will always love sir Nigel gresley she was the second engine I went on when I was 10 year old she is a very special engine to me
I’m gonna travel with her once the spring gala begins in April
Great video, will nip up tomorrow to see her again, saw her a few times at Bridgnorth last week, , great looking engine if in the wrong livery lol
Brilliant! Live close to a steam heritage line. Just the sound does it for me!

Does anyone else find it somewhat poetic that the current sole running A4 is No.7, the one named after her designer?
Liked it better in blue.
I love this whistle!
Nice video great camera work as usual as always keep it up nice to see sir nigel gresley back in work bye for now Philip
Great to see Gresley back in action
Superb!! And what a beautiful day and countryside! Hopefully I’ll visit England one day. Thank you for this evocative video.
Great filming......and the Sun shone.
Excellent little vid. Thanks for sharing!
Looking, and sounding, absolutely superb

That looks magnificent. Those Mk 3 Sleepers are proving quite useful.
* Idea! They could use them on the all-night trains during the Steam Gala!
The Sleepers are owned by Locomotive services ltd, so those are the guys to make your suggestion.
Superb Liam, looking and sounding great.
Great video guys, thank you for your efforts 👌
Superb video. Just listen to those chimes
Fabulous ! Wouldn't mind the property at 5minutes ! Looking very positive ! Thankyou .
Those Mk3 coaches with the A4 look like they could be modern versions of the Silver Jubilee. That would be an interesting concept.
Excellent clips, wish I was there !
Sounds really good, not struggling at all with that load, been behind it at the nymr some years back. Great stuff!

Great shots, thank you 👍👍
Beautiful locomotive, I will go to the UK at some point and see an A4 running
Now that's a idea gwr if you're listening a ten car sleeper train hauled by a a4 with a 57 on the end would be so cool u could charge almost anything and people would pay it
Great location on the bank

Gresley is due to star at the SVR spring steam gala from the 21/04 to 24/04.
Lovely video.thanks for sharing
Is it just or has it been a long time since an A4 was on SVR. Recalling 4464’s spring gala appearance 2012
Look fantastic in LNER black.Keep it that way for a season
Were the Support Coach and and Mk III's used the test the air-brake system for mainline running? Great video!
Well the Caledonian Sleeper has MK5 coaches now and there are very few HST's about. So I think the SVR might actually own those MK3's Air Brake testing could be a reason but MK3's also weight a little more.
Beautiful locomotive 🚂.
Great Video of Black 60007
The Robin is welcoming the loco!

Should stay in black til the end of May, hopefully will remain in black for mainline testing.
Wonderful video :)
n'er take for granted! G.B.'s oft-cozy landscapes 🍷
Great video.
Great video hope the loco is eventually put back to its blue colour 🙂
I believe it will be done in July.
Great Locomotive in action. I remember seeing SNG at Carnforth years ago when she was in Garter Blue. By the way, the present livery is correct apart from the letters should be NE not LNER for the wartime colour scheme!
sir nigel gresley's very first passenger train
A steam engine pulling Mark 3 coaches looks a little incongruous, but it doesn't matter.
Back in Black !
I would love them reunite for sng coming back
Sir Nigel Gresley has the same heavy test train as Britannia had. Why wasn't she tested with a full rake of Mk. 1 coaches? In my opinion, Mk. 1 coaches are lighter and easier for the A4 to handle, especially when puffing up Eardington Bank. Nice video in any case. Love the sound of an A4.😂🙃
It would be to simulat a fully loaded train and ti test air brakes I would expect
A beautiful video, and I love the little train stations . Thanks again, and. greetings from Holland.
3:01 I’ve missed that sound.
That little white house right next the track gets an earful!
Magic.
I do like a coordinated livery! 😉
Are those MK3 sleepers test coaches or are they gonna be restored?
The only thing missing is the blue paint
& unassisted...! wow
Will Sir Nigel Gresley be returning to the NYMR??
End of September for their gala.
What will be the (final?) ie "next" running number and livery?
No it going back to the blue it was when it last ran and 60007
Looks very Odd with those coaches
Old First Scotrail stock for a bonus.
