Yep, AQW was one of the first games I had a mmo like experience in. Had a lot of fun with all the classes until you realize that no matter how long you play as a f2p player you will never be able to experience that much of the game outside of what they've allotted as not paywalled. 99% of any items you'll ever want for your character are locked behind a paywall of being a member, or like most of the interesting classes are locked behind a ridiculous reputation grind that will take you days of constant grinding.
I think they would have struck gold if after yeeting you across the continent, the cultists actually summoned Vane and he yeets you AGAIN, twice as hard.
Ouch you missed something HUGE on Brutalcorn: after he dies, a teleport appears where he was standing to let you leave. If you're not directly on that spot, you don't instantly port out, and he'll actually respawn after a minute or whatever, and he does in fact have drops (and an achievement for killing him a bunch of times). You just didn't get anything cause you got booted due to standing on spot the teleporter spawned into. So the problem there is not that there are no drops, the problem is that the teleporter can spawn on top of your character and instantly teleport you out, instead of having say 3 different possible locations and coding to ensure it doesn't spawn on a person... also yeah more fanfare for his demise would be nice.
Seems likely to be a testing issue. More specifically, the person who designed the fight would know not to stand on the teleporter spot (or wouldn't even think to do it, avoiding it unconsciously) because they know about it. But they don't consider that when their players fight that battle, they _won't_ be aware of that... so it would be good to test what happens if they stand in the "wrong" place, since it isn't signposted or anything. All too easy to forget or not think of in the first place, of course. Game development is a lot.
@@Nezhakiin Runescape (Both old school and 3), Albion online, Villagers and heroes all have crossplay across PC or mobile. Celtic heroes feels like an old school PC game but its a mobile game. I'm not sure if it has PC port.
One thing though: Artix games can have *deep* storylines. My absolute favourite was The Devourer Saga, where basically everyone in Lore teams up to fight a fantasy Death Star that is also Satan. You had new characters and old, and their relationships. Characters died, betrayed each other, and Th'Galin (the Death Star Satan) actually has a tragic backstory. Yes, you still fight frogzards and have bad puns and all that stuff. The key is the dark stuff needs to contrast the light heartedness. I was already playing AQ for a few years by the time The Devourer Saga started, so the change in tone was shocking in itself. The same thing with Dragonfable. You spend the majority of the game taking boxes from Smeevils and finding magic socks, and like 10% figuring out your baby dragon is actually the evil one of a pair that will decide the fate of the world. Also the good one was turned into a dracolich named fluffy.
Yep. And even 13 Lords of Chaos was super engaging. I mean you started where Dragonfable left off on the ShadowSchyte. Gravelyn grew up, Sepulchure died. Drakath became Chaos. And the people they brought on Like One Eyed Doll, Voltaire, TMBG
Exactly this! The main appeal for AQ games are the deep and engaging storyline, hidden under a blanket of puns and jokes. That is why I keep coming back every few year or so to see if there’s any new storyline. I had even got the Darkside class
oh this one is gonna hurt, on an objective level this game has a lot of issues and isnt anywhere near completion since its missing whats considered to be very basic mmo elements but its THE game i keep coming back to since the social element/community, simplicity and artstyle really appeal to me
i have no nostalgia for AQW either since i didnt play it as a kid, i just needed a game that could run on my old shitty laptop and this was it :) theres so much this game can do to improve and since its, as far as i know anyway, not even considered released technically i hope things improve in the future.... im too big of a fan of equipping different items for both stats and cosmetics to drop it!
Honestly, I played this game back in highschool because I was bored as hell, but I eventually developed a likeness for it due to the similiar reasons as yours: It was free to play, had a awesome community, rad artstyle, humor, and the fact that it isn't performance heavy.
Artstyle is exactly why I keep returning to hearthstone. The ladder mode isnt fun, the side content is inconsistent and the game is heavily pay to win. The artstyle and sound design are very addicting
The Sword in the Stone gets even better, you can use it... as a mace. You get a sword that's stabbed in a chunk of stone and it's classified as a hammer weapon, cos you swing the stone at monsters.
@@slevinchannel7589 dragonfable by far is their best series although older , aqw is also their current popular mmorpg though most that plays it are long time players with strong nostalgia. Aq3d is their latest mmorpg that is available on steam
Dragonfable is a game I've replayed at least 5 times through the main stories because of the amount of humor Take a quest with the paladin artix. You're supposed to sneak into an undead lair disguised as undead. When you are stopped by the gatekeeper for not looking undead, your verbal defense is 'magic' to which the gatekeeper just says "hmm checks out" This goes on for a while, but at the same time Paladin Artix has his urge to vanquish evil rising constantly, so as soon as you convince the gatemaster to let you in, Artix attacks, blowing your cover Another example is the book 1 antagonist, Sepulcher, who hatches a dragon opposing your own, turning it into a skeleton and calling it 'Fluffy' It's perfect storytelling, perfect mix of humor and indeed deep story. I'll revisit it again at some point.
I remember playing AQW with similar plot? You are meant to sneak into area with undead. To make that disguise you need to kill some undead and collect their bone. Then someone make the disguise for you. However instead of disguosed like a real bone, your disguise is a grocery bag with a badly drawn skull and you wear it like a hat. Damn artix has got one of the best joke for giggles.
My favourite memory was in MechQuest, when you had to infiltrate a group of werewolves. They give you the worst wolf costume possible and a massive mic they use for movies to record their conversations and everyone just flies with it.
I also remember that part of the quest with Artix where you told him if he "needs a hand" and then one undead enemy just literally throws it's hand at you.
The issue is they should ask you “Do you really want to Leave? Yes or No” not force kick you out the second you touch the beam that spawns right in the middle of the fight. He drops 2 weapons so he would have likely appreciated this encounter a lot more.
@@slevinchannel7589 Most popular game right now would be aqworlds, but the most accessable and more up to date version of it would be aq3d. It's also probably the funniest but its hard to say. Ah yes, the classic vampire vs werewolf wars they had, and then they added the werepyres and then the drakowerepyres, completely derailing the whole thing.
I've watched and paid attention to the Artix team for a while when I was still active playing their games. They were always inspired by WoW (which shows) and their games were an homage to the fun they had with that particular title, so seeing them make the transition to 3D honestly made me feel proud in a way. They finally made the step up from simple flash game makers with in-jokes to actually taking their cool world and making it a 3D MMO space.
Agree. I don't knoe if that's the case but it gives you a feel as it was made by a bunch of friends trying to have fun. That or it's actually a bunch of slaves asking for help haha
I'd like to point out that Artix Games doesn't really abandon (most) of the games which you are claiming that they do. Adventure Quest, Dragon Fable, Mech Quest, all get updates to this day. Disregarding the quality of the games, this dedication is impressive, I think.
@@ciaran616 I'm not super sure, I know AE stopped weekly updates after the game was finished, but since then they have worked on and added events. They could have stopped that at this point, in which case they just automate when events play based on date.
Yeah that was pretty disingenuous... You can literally check their design notes right now and see that most of their big titles are updated weekly to this day. And the other games mentioned are like, mobile games or designed as minigames on purpose, so no one’s really expecting updates from them.
Yeah, I have to admit the fact AQ and Dragon Fable still get updated is freaking dedication. I still go back and play Dragon dable just because its on of those games you can just spend time doing quests on.
Loved AQW as a middle schooler. Sad to see the devs haven’t gone full throttle on this version of the game . Has potential to be a fun alternative to the more serious MMOs

Thats exactly what i did. Played DF after many years and i finally finally bought a dragon amulet. Best idea ever, it was worth every dolar and last forever lol
It's all about the cosmetics. Making sets/cosplays/weird shit and waiting for the next level cap and story progress. That's the unfortunate reality of it all. You hit a point relatively early where you realize it's all vanity and flair as opposed to any meaningful gameplay
@@JoshStrifeHayes Exactly - the large polygon size and stretched textures juxtaposed to the higher polygon count refined armours/creatures makes for a disgusting overall apparence. With jarring animations, It's hard to see why they ever wanted to make the jump from 2D to 3D when they worked so much better in the former.
@Sonic Mobian yeah not an excuse when you can hire professionals who work in these fields. Did they just get their 2d artist to model in 3D? Or did they hire bad 3D artist? We’re not talking about a friend learning 3D modelling, we are talking about a company that makes enough money to fuel the owners mansion. Plus we leave in a time where technology is much more advanced - I mean WoW Classic looks a lot nicer of an overall presentation and that game was made in 2004.
@Sonic Mobian That doesn't excuse it, this game is just pure laziness. Speaking as someone who was originally excited at the concept of AQ3D, it was a pretty huge let down within the first year. This company just seems to consistently drop the ball again and again.

As someone who learned about DragonFable thanks to my older cousins, and absolutely loved it, it sort of saddens me to see their other games being talked about poorly. I never knew about this game's existence, but I think if I had heard I might have given it a try those years ago
I remember playing Adventure Quest in the school library during recess, back when even the most advanced sprites looked like they were drawn in MS Paint. And it was fun. I liked the humor. I liked the story. I liked the world and exploring the expanding lore. I enjoyed how most of the time it felt like I was just doing a bunch of sidequests completely divorced from the main plot, because the fact that not all the issues of the world were connected made it feel bigger and more alive. Sadly, what was the biggest strength of the 2D games seems to be this game's greatest weakness. Doing a short sidequest between classes worked in its 2D format, but that's not fun in an MMO.
The way I've always seen these games from Artix: "They don't take their game seriously, so you don't have to." I just see their games as some quick little fun moments, then bail. They seem more for a good laugh every now and then.
Besides Dragonfable.. It was just as carefree and lighthearted as the others at first but overtime the story took some on some dark and serious undertones. We've seen NPC'S who've been with us from the literal beginning die while being made to feel all but helpless as we do our best to fight against each and every threat but still can't prevent some of the NPC'S we've grown closest to over the years from dying in the end. With Dragonfable I feel like I literally never know which character will be killed off next or which city or town will be completely destroyed (because both of these things has happened more than once). I play Dragonfable to take part in the story to and see what will continue to take place within the world whereas with the others it's like I was just playing to kill time. Dragonfable is the only AE game that seemed to have actually grown up and mature with it's player base. I still play Dragonfable to this day just to see how the main storyline will continue to develop but the others are all either too childish or just not serious enough for me. Book one was lighthearted and carefree but Books 2-3 where when things actually started to take on a more serious feeling or approach. Especially book 3.
Some of the humor actually comes from the pathetic nature in which they run their older games , constant excuses for why this or that, and an evergrowing reliance on pay content as more and more people bail for better professionalism
it actually hot better imo, they actually got serious for a PG game , the Book 3: The End of Magic storylines like the Tomix Saga was sad af, the Calamity storyline was epic, the Thorns Storyline was actually brutal af too and (spoilers) they literally killed a fan favourite character because the players werent fast enough and lost a war
AQ3d is one of those games thats so frustrating to me. It has so much charm and what it does right, it does really right. Like Josh said though, its missing things to make it a solid MMO but its an amazing side game to play if you're waiting for content patches or an expansion in your main game.
@@tori9365 That's just it. This game works best as a mobile game but as a PC game...nope. But I heard this is a browser game so there's nothing to download...maybe?
Adventure Quest will always hold one of my favorite memories when I was a kid playing it. I remember one of the quests would take you between a war for Vampires and Werewolves. They were both fairly cool and even allowed you to turn into your selected faction if you wanted to by equipping the armor. However, if you say… wanted the best of both worlds, you could become a werepyre, which just because it was super edgy was always my favorite. Also yes I’m commenting on a 2 year old video, I live in the past.
I've always loved Artix. They are such a unique game company. Very unique style and sense of humor and they've always worked very closely with the community.
i love how that's a reference with so many layers to it because D Piddy is famous for his Deadpool cosplays, and deadpool's real name is wade wilson, and its also a convention joke. also just the fact they slipped him into the game is kinda fun
After watching this video I downloaded it at about midnight on mobile while laying in bed in the middle of the night as my spouse slept. I just finished playing, and it's currently 3am. Suffice to say I had fun. 😄 I never would have known this simple albeit fun little MMO existed if not for this channel, so thanks.👍 Once I installed it I rolled a Warrior. At first the controls confused me since I am used to playing MMOs on PC. However, once I got the hang of the mobile controls I had a lot of fun playing. It's not the most sophisticated MMO, but I think thats why I enjoyed it so much. I am guessing I can do crossplay with my PC and I probably will since I brought the premium Guardian thingy to keep playing when I finished the tutorial. It's the kind of game I will likely enjoy in small bursts, in that regard the fact you can play it on mobile is certainly a plus. Just me though, but as a mobile MMO at very least it's quite enjoyable imho.
This game is all about grind I've played since release on mobile and was max level with all class till the more recent expansion sandseas I love this game but the down side is, all the early areas tend to be really low populated because all the content is moved to the recent expansion and that goes for every expansion that releases. I grinded two weeks to make at the time the best weapon in game and it was a staff that took 666 materials of 3 different mats to make. After making it about a month later the next area was released in the story line making my weapon irrelevant. That's the biggest complaint for me. If you see people in the earlier areas they are most likely farming skins as some weapons look sick af but their stats are garbage as you would need to play the most recent area to even have competitive gear. The PVP I'm this game is horrendous would not recommend and virtually nobody plays or bothers with it. There is no real healing classes aside from two classes have a healing power but that's it.
@@preston6018 The biggest trouble I had when playing the game was the lack of reason to play in non-current zones. I fell in love with the volcano zones and the dragonslayers, once I maxed out the class I really wanted to get some of the weapons and armors from the (seemingly)super cool boss fights and dungeons in the area, but there's no way whatsoever to defeat them solo, and no one's frequenting those instanced zones! Definitely a really fun and cool game, but I think they need to give some love to those earlier zones and make them more solo friendly since there's not much of a reason to go back to them stat-wise. Though it'd be really cool if certain dungeons & boss fights where labelled as "End Game" and the armor/weapons you get from them would always be the level you needed, so endgame players would have a greater variety of content to run.
A silly casual 3D mmo with a multi class system is exactly what I’ve been looking for in an mmo. I’m totally going to give this game a try. Great video, btw 👍
I've played adventure quest so much when I was younger. It was beautiful and simple. They owned the 2D space and made it their own way. I wish them well in 3D, they can do it with enough devotion.
So I love your reviews and critiques, they're always a pleasure to watch. That being said, I actually disagree with the take of telling the player every small detail they need to know for gameplay explicitly. I'm referring to around the 6 minute mark where the boss has indicators telling you where he'll attack, but you're never directly told "red place bad". I think this was a very clever and intuitive gameplay design to let players learn on their own how combat here worked, and it does so in a way that lets the player get to learn through experience rather than a hand-hold, which imo would belittle the learning experience. I think there is a lot of power in making your systems learnable without info dumping a ton of text to explain all of those systems. This is, of course, a very simple example, but I think scales appreciably to many aspects of games overall, not just MMO's. The key concept and underlying belief I have here is that most players aren't entirely idiotic and, even if new to games, can draw upon real world experience and contextual clues to work out simpler mechanics like "oh, I'm fighting this big scary skeleton, but he hasn't attacked me yet. I should probably get away from that big red box that's filling up where I am." Otherwise, stellar video as always. Cheers!
Def agree. That's how bosses work in ffxiv and its always cool that boss mechanics are something you learn rather than told by some npc in the sidelines.
@@renno2679 only bs with FFXIV is the purple and blue indicators from ARR, which are first encountered by most players in required dungeons with no teaching moments... But the optional dungeon cutter's cry teaches it (By which, I mean the penalty in cutter's cry isn't bad for failing, and it pops up a telegrah of "Oh, boss is doing something tricky!" Message... I think the first required dungeon to use the purple blue mechanic is keeper of the lake, which will wipe the party.)
One thing worth mentioning about this: a colorblind friend told me once that he couldn't see the red markers in FF14, but once his friend pointed out that the monster's animation was so clear that he could use that as a guide instead, he finally stopped struggling so much against the raid boss. Sometimes the red marker really isn't enough.
I actually disagree, due to a wholly different game The sheer number of times that I've seen people run through the tutorial for Warframe, get to the chasm where 'Jump again in the air to do a double jump!' pops up bold as brass at the top of the screen... and then they just single jump and plop down into the pit. _And then they poof back to the top of the chasm, get the same double jump prompt, single-jump AGAIN and then wonder what they're doing wrong_ I have no faith left in the games-literacy of the average new player in any given franchise. Honestly, you can't even expect people to read anymore - it's like preschools just stopped teaching it.
That's the frustrating thing about AQ3D. This feels like a game meant for the early 2000's. If it came out way then maybe this game would be really popular.
I just wish that grinding in 3d is as rewarding as in aqw. Sure you can flex rare cosmetics in yulgar's inn but It's not like everyone will always look at your character anyway.

They really should have stuck to their guns with the 2D versions, yes it's outdated but it's much MUCH easier to accept and enjoy a decent 2D sidescroller MMO than a meh 3D one. 25:00 The other thing about the box joke is that they made exactly the same joke in Dragonfable, in the dragon egg hunt. The Sneevils stole the chest the dragon egg was in, but because they were only interested in it because it was a cool-looking box, they immediately dumped its contents out, so you had to go locate it. And part of the joke with that is that this was content released over a period of *months,* so you were constantly like. On the *edge* of finding this chest, only for some bizarre and absurd Artix thing to happen that put you one step back. Every step along the way felt like an escalation, so while for some people I imagine it was frustrating, on a level it was also exciting to just see what they were going to pull out next. And there's also the fact that when the egg was finally ready to hatch, the way they announced it was by changing the little log-in news blurb to "zOmg! You should talk to Twilly!" Here it's just sorta. "Haha, Sneevils only want the box, the thing you want is directly below you." idk; doesn't feel like it's got quite the same pull to it.

Also, even comparing this game to the above listed, is simply a joke as this game is not even 5% of all those games. Even a bad p2w game is miles and miles better. Maybe buy a PC/Laptop and start playing some real games and come by again. Even League of Legends which is not a mmorpg but it is a game. It takes skill, and even the games above take some skill, time and expetise and they are much much more enjoyable objectively. AQ3D is just unfun, unskilled trash.
I remember in aq world's there was this npc who was telling stories to kids in yulgar inn and it took me to this giant ant adventure and it was so cool I thought aq3d would be more of that but I guess the direction of the game changed mid way

@@TwizzElishus I don't buy early access games? The point of Early Access isnt to permanently be on there regardless. It's in the name as in you are paying to access the game before it is ready. If you don't leave early access then it's meaningless except as a way to deflect criticism from the project. Just because you personally don't value integrity doesn't mean you can try to dismiss other people by calling them idiots.
@@FlamespeedyAMV No, as a dev working for a big company myself: during "early access" or better known alpha and beta, you have to pay almost no tax for getting funds and later can get back all that paid tax once it is released. My company does the same and lets itself get funded by the customer during the beta phase with a 50% payment. It is no excuse to never deliver anything, it is a simple tactic to pay less tax. Even if they are in perpetual beta, once they stop delivering updates for a significant time (different from country to country), the law sees the software as finished. In this games case they don't have to fear any fraud claims, since there is a game, as barebone as it may be, but they milk those cheap taxes. Currently dayz and star citizen are my personal contestors for milking that lower tax to the maximum.
I did a playthrough of the starting experience a few years ago, and it had some elements that I liked, but overall, I was a bit disappointed. A few things I found jarring back then: It was a beta, but the feedback I provided was often swatted aside with excuses about how "that was on purpose" (like when I suggested that the PC client should have keybindings for things like I being inventory, M being a map, etc. At the time, I was informed that this wouldn't be possible due to the game also shipping on mobile, but they eventually added most of these features anyway). Another big issue I personally had with the game that you didn't mention, is that your inventory fills up really quickly. You can spend real money on a bigger inventory, but quest items are stored in your normal inventory, and if you want some sort of cosmetic set as well as an equipment set, you need to have 2 complete armor sets in your bag at all times. There's no character panel to store equipped items on, so it all just takes up space. Been watching through a bunch of your old videos but I really connected with this one, since I was an alpha and beta tester of this game as well.
Just informing that the game now is quite decent, it just need a kick from community and internet. The story is also fixed (new chapter only) and combat is still the same but the gameplay with the community is what makes it the best.
Not quite but you are right for no p2w, there are some paid items for upgraded accs but they aren't much better than what takes a small amount of grinding
I honestly think this game is wonderful. It cant compete with any of the big ones but i could totally see a parent introducing their kids to MMOs with this. Fantastic simple fun to waste a couple days or weeks in. Honestly believe this is nowhere near the worst. If anything it made me excited what they might do in a possible sequel. If this.. ever ever ever leaves early access, lmao.
this right here it's not supposed to be taken seriously (though stepping into the 3d mmorpg space basically forces it to in a lot of ways cause you have to compete with the big bois) it's meant for kids just getting into mmorpgs and nostalgia purposes not for mmo veterans or people looking for a serious mmo to sink 1000s of hours into i spent a few weeks in it have some rare stuff from launch or whatever have most of the classes afaik cause i come back to it occasionally tbh i need to get back into it to catch up on stuff and then dip when i get tired of the grind and do it all over again in a year or two.... and yeah if i'm ever a parent and the adventure quest games are still around my kid is getting my rpg introduction because these games are a great introduction to the space in a more pg setting
AQ3D is good for me though, the only thing that lacks is the content and due to how slow the game improves, I just only play it to complete daily quests.
One thing I will say about Adventure Quest and that is I really dig the designs. I have always enjoyed Artix art and I feel it really translated well into the game.
Never played this one but I LOVE the Artix games. MechQuest, Dragon Fable, AdventureQuest and AQ World had so much charm. Cool to see reviews of these, even a critical one (well deserved).
Played this on mobile so much I ran out of things to do (about 1 yr ago) and figured I'd return after some updates, havent yet but really love it and havent found any mobiles as good, IMO. It does walk a precarious line between serious and humorous that can drift into an odd tone.
I know this will change literally everything you've said about the game, every last itty bitty thing beyond a shadow of a doubt, something so mind blowingly insane that I have to hide it beneath the break. The brutalcorn does drop something, you just killed him while standing where the exit spawns.
I am been fan of Artix entertainment since original aq , this game is perhaps one of the most favorite MMO I have ever played 1. The fast accessibility to hop on to this game is awesome , 2. You got total of 14 classes you can automatically switch at anytime , 3. The optimization of phone to PC is awesome , 4. Graphics and scenery is beautiful , 5. Cosmetic design and other gear look the best compared to any other game , 6. The community for AQ3D is a very positive and supportive for all players more then I can say to other MMO, 7. AQ3D have always get weekly updates so the player can always have something to do and there only getting better. The downfall for this game is no quest book or log to know where you stand in this game, right now I am tier gold max player and I don’t know what quest is what to complete because they don’t tell you what you have complete so far , each class goes up to 100 going to lvl 50 to 100 is pointless makes no benefit to stats or your account this might take you 200 hours worth to get a legendary title which bunch of lame text on the top, at times they do release some repeated useless content they no one cares about on some weeks but past 4 months they been doing a good job.
Coming to the game 3 years after this video released and even longer after the game released. A little underwhelmed overall as the game still, somehow, feels a bit under-cooked. Like it’s a late Beta test or something
the last time I played a game with a weird tongue in cheek sense of humour while having solid gameplay... was wildstar. too bad they thought they needed to pull in the hardcore vanilla wow playerbase that didnt really exist anymore.
Josh: "I hate grey screens that point out what a thing you HAVE to click!" Also Josh (Rift): "The game did nothing to show me the abilities page!" (It had pop ups that were closed immediately.) There's reasons games feel they have to do this, Josh. Better integration is, of course, preferable. But if it's absolutely core to the gameplay, sometimes, you just gotta show 'em. Sure, it causes dissonance and breaks immersion, but the small investment of learning the systems in which to interact with the game is vital to any sort of fulfillment.
Unfortunately it's one year later, artix entertainment hasn't made any real progress with this project, they themselves state within the game (several times in different ways) that this game was actually released 20 YEARS ago. They also claim it's been receiving weekly updates from the time it was launched until now. And yet it's in almost exactly the same state that it was in during the recording of this video. I don't foresee any progress by this developer any time soon.
Your MMO reviews really stand out from the crowd - your sense of humour, scriptwriting/line delivery quality, and expertise in the genre make them very enjoyable to watch as a casual MMO fan - seeing someone miss something that's obvious to me when they're calling out a game for being dumb can really ruin the funnies, and on the rare occasions when you do miss something in the recording, you always seem to notice in the editing phase. I'm looking forward to seeing your Worst MMO Ever series continue, and I agree with that other guy in the comments that your channel has the quality to make it pretty big! Are you familiar with the developer IGG? I haven't played anything of theirs since my childhood (and the only one I played that still seems to be alive is Angels Online), so I can't make any solid claims about their quality (though I remember the English translation ranging from questionable to incomprehensible), but I'd be very interested to see your take on any of their games. (It occurred to me shortly after writing this that your nitpicking, as you put it, is one of my favourite things about watching your videos. It's nice to see someone notice and care about the same problems that would probably bother me if I played a game.)

Easy fix for that. Build a scripted teleporter in the corner of the arena that only appears when the boss is dead.
I'd honestly say that the devs missed something huge there... 😅
Yeah, devs missed something HUGE on Brutalcorn.

Dragonfable is a game I've replayed at least 5 times through the main stories because of the amount of humor
Take a quest with the paladin artix. You're supposed to sneak into an undead lair disguised as undead. When you are stopped by the gatekeeper for not looking undead, your verbal defense is 'magic' to which the gatekeeper just says "hmm checks out"
This goes on for a while, but at the same time Paladin Artix has his urge to vanquish evil rising constantly, so as soon as you convince the gatemaster to let you in, Artix attacks, blowing your cover
Another example is the book 1 antagonist, Sepulcher, who hatches a dragon opposing your own, turning it into a skeleton and calling it 'Fluffy'
It's perfect storytelling, perfect mix of humor and indeed deep story.

@@readifdumb They had their 2d artists move into 3d from what I understand. Or at least They had their 2d artists learn how to make layouts that their animators could wrap around their models.

What I love the most is your nickname in game, that Harry Potter fanfiction still haunts me to this day.

The way I've always seen these games from Artix: "They don't take their game seriously, so you don't have to."
I just see their games as some quick little fun moments, then bail.

After watching this video I downloaded it at about midnight on mobile while laying in bed in the middle of the night as my spouse slept. I just finished playing, and it's currently 3am. Suffice to say I had fun. 😄 I never would have known this simple albeit fun little MMO existed if not for this channel, so thanks.👍
Once I installed it I rolled a Warrior.
Thanks man. It's definately fun to play, there is a charm there and if you're after something light hearted, this is it.

I've played adventure quest so much when I was younger. It was beautiful and simple. They owned the 2D space and made it their own way. I wish them well in 3D, they can do it with enough devotion.
13:02 I laughed so hard when I saw "D.Piddy" considering what happened to Diddy right now. 😂
I WAS ABOUT TO COMMENT THE SAME LMAO
I should probably get away from that big red box that's filling up where I am."
Otherwise, stellar video as always. Cheers!
Honestly you're probably right, sometimes i just look for stuff to nitpick.
I actually disagree, due to a wholly different game
The sheer number of times that I've seen people run through the tutorial for Warframe, get to the chasm where 'Jump again in the air to do a double jump!' pops up bold as brass at the top of the screen... and then they just single jump and plop down into the pit.
_And then they poof back to the top of the chasm, get the same double jump prompt, single-jump AGAIN and then wonder what they're doing wrong_

Even if they are in perpetual beta, once they stop delivering updates for a significant time (different from country to country), the law sees the software as finished.
This is such a great game, zero p2w, easy to play, all items are avaliable for f2p.
Not quite but you are right for no p2w, there are some paid items for upgraded accs but they aren't much better than what takes a small amount of grinding

Fun fact; met my wife on the AQ Forums. Good memories of Battleon Games, they're just silly and fun.
Villager and heroes on your list? i acutally enjoy that title xD, i want the gordan ramsey of mmos to critique it.
Yes, I found that mmo last month and so far I kind of like it and hope he reviews it.
@@Brittany_1992 for sure! For a mobile MMO nothing can compare... Anything else on the platform is just cash grab auto play piles of shite.
I play it on PC so haven't tried it on mobile
@@Brittany_1992 only thing different is UI and controls. Same experience.
Ah ok
Quick critique, you can make a 2D game 3D without losing its charm. It’s difficult, but Risk of Rain did it perfectly. Great video!
I remember when AQW2d was actually fun but the developer just want money and didnt care for the game at all so it grew worst year by year
Coming to the game 3 years after this video released and even longer after the game released.
Josh: "I hate grey screens that point out what a thing you HAVE to click!"
Also Josh (Rift): "The game did nothing to show me the abilities page!" (It had pop ups that were closed immediately.)
There's reasons games feel they have to do this, Josh.
I agree. Josh is doing a great job on this channel!!
