Certainly a good showing of how game developers like this can be very helpful and impactful. I imagine this game would become standardized for flight courses. This in VR and HoloLens will be a great experience for flight handling. I imagine Microsoft will try to atleast keep this team for improving this tech.
I'm really not into flight simulators but the way you digitalize the earth is insane and you have definitely triggered me to check out the simulator as soon as it arrives on Xbox.
OMG I have to hand it to you, 40 year flight simmer here. Mind completely blown. I cant wait! How is this possible? I am losing it. I keep saying to myself - whats the catch?
I think they should put cars in that game, really it could be a pretty good experience to try even if it's going to be low res texture on the ground, you could like do multiple days road trip :o
I'm with you. A simulated world so realistically detailed is open to all sorts of possibilities, not just flight Simulator. Think of massively multiplayer online type games. Imagine a first person shooter that takes place in and around your home town/neighborhood. Now imagine that while other people are racing cars around, while others are flying. Now imagine it all in VR/AR.
Awesome, thanks for uploading this video! I can't wait to try it! Does anyone know how realistic the flight physics simulation or weather physics simulation will be compared to X-Plane 11?
How about performance on cruise level? I suppose the details of the environment are rendered based on altitude and visibility? I do not need to see a piece of grass at FL390 ;)

@@notlegal99 Just be sure to check your new motherboard's memory support list, which should be on the motherboard manufacturer's support site for that part number, for your specific model/part number of your memory sticks. If they're not listed, make sure the performance specifications of the memory are supported by the new motherboard chipset and new CPU, look for the DDR4 CAS latency (timing) numbers (e.g.. 15-15-15), and the voltage (e.g... 1.4 V), and the frequency of the memory sticks (e.g... 3200 MHz). As long as the CAS latency, voltage, and the frequency of your RAM sticks is supported by the new motherboard and new CPU, you should be good to use them in the new PC. In terms of GPUs, it might be wise to buy a lower-performance, lower-cost GPU right now and wait for the next major generation of Nvidia GPU's to be released as the first-generation RTX cards are not that great at maintaining a frame-rate of >60 FPS while real-time ray-tracing in supported games at high resolutions or high graphics quality settings. I believe Nvidia should have added more RT cores to the RTX 1st generation cards. But the next generation RTX cards should be far better at ray-tracing performance at high resolutions. This would also give you more time to save money for a high-end RTX GPU and also wait to see what AMD is offering for their upcoming Radeon RX5800 XT "big Navi" parts. :)

I would imagine all of the terrain imagery comes from a combination of private satellite camera images, low-altitude aviation terrain camera images, and low-altitude aviation 3D laser-heightmap scan data. So, if a new airport is constructed immediately after the launch of MS Flight Simulator 2020, my guess is that you'd have to wait for at least one satellite and two aircraft with different terrain imaging payloads to make passes over the new airport and then wait for all the collected data to be uploaded to Microsoft's Azure AI servers, processed by their algorithms and software, then compressed/packaged and uploaded into the Microsoft Flight Simulator terrain-data servers before you would see it in the game. This is all just a guess based on my (admittedly limited) knowledge of how all of this simulator's current terrain data was collected and added to the sim.
come on guys, when your doing a comparison shot, keep with the same city, or shot your comparing with different level of service, so you can see the difference, using different citys is no comparison as they are so uniquely different from each other to begin with.
I beleive they should make a demo version of the simulator. But you can always try to register on their Insiders Program and see if they choose you to test the beta releases.
if you can scan the real world, you can place id diggitaly on existing and uses data as replace of "ILS" and land autonomous because you got all the data on every airport, right ? ...but MONEY MONEY MONEY.
Anyone else smell a "Subscription Model" in the works? I don't think Microsoft would put this much money into developing this just to let it go for $60 a pop. They must know how fanatic the flight sim community is, people will easily drop a few bucks a month for the "Online Service" to get those nice procedural generated blades of grass. Hope I'm wrong.
David Santos thanks. So a remote server can produce 3D rendered and shaded objects on a local computer without having to worry about the local hardware on the local system? Therefore if true the minimum spec will be a very basic and no need for a high end graphics card. Yes?
If it's anything like other flight simulators you probably can, but it won't be realistic, visually accurate, or glorified with explosion/fire effects in any way. Also, since this game is highly integrated with Microsoft's servers, I wouldn't try to repeatedly crash an aircraft into buildings while playing as they could theoretically have algorithms that detect which players are repeatedly flying planes into buildings and you might get a knock on your door from the FBI, or the police of whichever country's buildings your crashing into.
I've heard they are not doing VR? Honestly I can't go back to 2D anymore. Not in a flight simulator. That depth and immersion is critical to me now. Even if it doesn't look like the graphical masterpiece above.
