    Seeing all the metal elitists saying "its not heavy enough" is so annoying. It doesn't NEED to be a raging and brutal song to be good! Bands need to evolve to stay fresh and relevant, and Slipknot are absolutely killing it 😊

    • @bigfrankfraser1391
      @bigfrankfraser1391 2 ปีที่แล้ว +14

      yeah, i call them the "volume 3 elitists" since the most brutal era of slipknot was the first three albums, people want that era of slipknot but dont want anything that is still slipknots awesome sound

      Slipknot was always like that. They had a great balance between hard and smooth.

      V-Man showed out in this one. Slipknot usually doesn't have a lot of heavy bass lines, but this song is killer. Each member had a small solo section for this song, and it sounds awesome.

      Every Slipknot album is like that. Every time you listen to it you're like fuck that bass is good, holy shit those drums, and the way the mixing ties it to together. Fucking chef's kiss.

    I actually appreciate that they are going for more dynamics. I love the atmospheric intro and outro. Anyone can be really heavy and aggressive now but, to blend it with unexpected elements and make it work? That's being an artist and not pandering to your fan base. For those saying,"it's not heavy enough", go start your own band and create redundancy.

      Well, "much different than anything Slipknot has done before"...the verse is clearly from their beginnings, is sounds a lot like (sic) or My Plague...the structure of the song is something fresh and funny, just one verse, couple of bridges, a solo just after their first chorus...that's "proggy" in a certain way. But definitely I wouldn't say something Slipknot hasn't done before...

    Heard this last night on the little speakers at work, haven't had it through the big speakers yet... but yeah, sounds amazeballs.
    They worked very closely with their early producer, but had enough label support by their 3rd album... to work with Rick Rubin. Vol. 3 is a beautiful album, it's when the flower really started to open. The first albums are brilliant and raw, but lack the breadth.
    They've since gone to consistently evolve their sound. Over the years of dealing with the loss of key members, they've still show an ability to progress.
    Anyways, new masks look sic af.

      I just started listening to some metal and yeah I don’t remember them sounding like this before. Like he said this is clear while still punching you in the face, if that makes sense. I know it’s production, but it makes it interesting to me. I thought this was awesome 🤘🏼 This world of metal has so many cracks to follow. Heavy, prog, symphonic, I have to say there’s a lot to go through. Some 20-30 years in their catalog of music. I still can’t do death metal. I know why it has a place in this genre though.

  • @brownwestmoreland1077

    Honestly the first time I heard this song, it blew me away with the clean vocals, and the boulder heavy drums and guitars. Even V- Man showed off with his bass in this one. And that's rare for slipknot to show off a bass line. The drummer Jay Weinberg gets better and better with each album, not taking away anything from Joey Jordison, but geez, Jay Weinberg is definitely a close 2nd! Every new album slipknot makes, the production value just goes through the roof. I have a good feeling that this new album is going to be smoking hot and killer heavy. Moreso than any other so far!
    Rest in peace Joey Jordison and Paul Gray, you guys would be so proud as two of the founding members of slipknot!

      @@Garotte14 it amazes me all the time the talent and hard work that’s put in for someone to get to that level of skill. I think most of the metal bands I’ve been exposed to over the last 3-4 years have surprised me with the exceptional talent they have. I never listened to metal, been a punk rocker my whole life. And of course there’s talent, metal bands aren’t new, but I couldn’t see it before. To be fair metal/pop music in the 80’s was def not for me (step in leather jacket and Mohawk). I think symphonic metal was the perfect path in for me. The other thing I notice is they are ALL HAVING A BLAST!! There’s no fakery about it, they have a passion to play and perform. More so than pop because metal isn’t mainstream on the radio. Just like the punk bands I listen too. They know that their live shows are what keeps their fans coming back year after year. That real connection they have. Unlike some pop star lip syncing the whole show. It’s really ignited a new passion for me in a genre of music I’d never thought I’d be interested in. Although it’s overwhelming trying to listen to 20-30 years of music from all these bands. So I don’t know all the names, lyrics, songs, or members but I am happily learning. I still can’t do death metal 😂

  • @DudeMcGuybro

    There's just something about the drums. Joey could pull the momentum from part to part, and with Jay I don't feel those transitions are as smooth. One of the things I like the most about Slipknot is how their songs flow from start to end, and this song didn't have that flow, and neither does Chapeltown Rag. They just kinda feel mishmashed in that All Hope is Gone sense.

    • @DarthPerc
      @DarthPerc 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Jay literally fucking destroyed the drums on this song

    • @DudeMcGuybro
      @DudeMcGuybro 2 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      @@DarthPerc I'm not saying he didn't. It just has a different feel to the drums that doesn't appeal to me as much as Joey's style. That's not to say it isn't incredibly complex, because it is. Complex doesn't always mean interesting though. You could be the worlds best drummer, to me it doesn't matter unless you can translate that skill into song writing. There's a reason people praise Bob Dylan and Kurt Cobain, they're great song writers.

    • @DarthPerc
      @DarthPerc 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@DudeMcGuybro I agree with you I think Joey was a better drummer by far. I think jay has a different style and that’s partly why a lot of the newer songs are viewed as being different. I also agree with you statement you can be a good drummer but still not make it work like some others do becuase their rhythm and songwriting is leagues above his but I still think this is one of the most technical drums I’ve heard in a long time

    I don't particularly care for the effects on his voice at the beginning or the sound of his harmonies in the chorus, however this song is so so so so much better than chapletown rag. C. R. Is part 1 of the new album. New album is coming out in September 30th, gonna be called "The end, so far"

      Same. I hate the video too, but the chorus here isn’t doing it for me 😕 but I like the rest of it!
