@@steste6769 Is this bass trombone slide a controversy in the trombone world?? I'm trying to figure out why Jay Friedman doesn't have more people praising his sound (particularly famous Trombone Professionals)
Rick, I think it's because Jay is much older now, and his prime was many years ago. There are much younger players putting out a lot of content out all over social media, and players in Jay's era are becoming lost in the new age of trombone recordings. With all of that said, these recording's of Jay are the only ones I still try to emulate.
Should sound exactly the same! So, the mentioning of the clef is somewhat strange.. maybe something for those audiophiles. Like, recorded using digital cables...
@@urvhaltit would sound different. The clef change refers to how you read the notes, but the notes on the page don’t change in between clefs. The original etude is written in D major but if you read it as Tenor clef then it goes to A major (played in this video)
@@daddychill1027 I you change clef, you always also transpose it to sound exactly the same, only changing the clef symbol is a very strange thing to do and sometimes breaks things a lot... so Jay did that, ok.
Played golf with him once in the 90’s for an event. Straight down the fairway every time.
😂 so good
Such a wonderful sound.
This Guy is unbelievable!
... what he has taught us about Sound..
that is some wicked playing
absolute perfection 🔥 beautiful
Isn’t he amazing?
Lovely sound, lovely production. Lovely everything.
A true artist
Pure ❤
Wow, amazing. Now I want to hear him play it in bass clef and in treble clef.
I am attempting this right now… keyword being attempt. 😂😂😂
It is beautiful playing! Does anybody besides me have a problem with the pulse?
Not really, could it be slight rubatos that are throwing you off? I adore those push and pulls so definitely nothing that I’m finding issue with
@@eriknoonan1019 I am all for tasteful rubato, but what I am hearing is that almost every time he breathes, the time gets a bit behind.
Is there a better trombone sound than this?
This pure sound with a 50 LT slide❤
Real nice sound and range!

Hello Terry,
Nice post! Are you still playing at Margie's bar? When I lived in Detroit I used to go to the jam, and I was close friends with Rich K.
Actually, he's playing it in Bb major, which would be a major 6th above the original. Amazing playing...might inspire me to start playing again.
this is definitely in A
Sorry...Guess I need my ears recalibrated
How does it sound in treble clef? Or in bass clef?
