  • A Tim Hortons coffee and donut shop has just opened on the 22nd November in Birmingham, UK. This famous Canadian coffee shop is located at the intersection of Lower Temple Street and New Street, directly opposite a Starbucks. The Birmingham New Street Station is conveniently right around the corner. There are over 100 seats in this Tim Hortons, spread over two levels.
    The coffee and donuts are more than reasonably priced: A large Double Double, which is coffee with 2 creams and 2 sugars, costs £2.09, which is slightly more expensive than filter coffee of the same size in Starbucks (£1.95), but way cheaper than a latte (£3.10). Donuts costs no more than £1.49 each, which makes them cheaper than Krispy Kreme, where donuts cost between £1.55 and £2.40 each.
    I ordered a Honey Cruller and a Large Double Double for £3.58. Once I got my food, I went upstairs, where there are 84 seats and sat in a corner by a window. The Honey Cruller is sweeter and softer than the Cruller at Krispy Kreme, while the Double Double is still quite strong even with 2 creams and 2 sugars. Just like Caffe Nero, loyalty cards are provided for customers. You can get every 9th hot or cold drink free by collecting stamps. In addition, you can get a free baked good with your next drink by completing the survey provided on the receipt.
    In conclusion, the Tim Hortons is worth visiting more than once a week if you live or work nearby, because it sells coffee and donuts at a comparable quality and a better value for money compared to other mainstream competitors.

    The seats look way nicer and more comfortable than any of the Tim Hortons I've seen in Canada.

      That's right. I remembered entering Tim Hortons for the first time in Toronto. It was dimly lit with McDonald's style flooring and seats. I can see Tims is taking their global expansion very seriously. They price everything very competitively and provide strong incentives for me to go back. So yes, I would rate it on par with most mainstream coffee chains in the UK.

    Wow, happy to see this as I'm a Canadian. We don't have a Tim Horton's like this here in my part of Canada but parts of the restaurant loom very similar. Tim Horton's is not fancy like Starbuck's. It's just your everyday donut and coffee shop and we love it. It is quentisential Canadian.

      Yes, I went to one in downtown Toronto more than 10 years ago and it was furnished at the same standard as a McDonald's. Maybe Tim's had to do take way more effort when expanding abroad, rather than taking Canadians for granted. The good thing is that Tim's is still planning to open new stores in the UK despite the Covid outbreak. It may be a while before one opens in Central London though!

    The only Tims I've seen that is this nice is store #1 in Hamilton, Ontario...they have a gift shop, Tims museum with a display of a 1960s store interior. Enjoy that double double...cheers

    Thank you so much for this video, I have also visited this Tim's and found your video helpful before my visit. Much appreciated, and I really enjoyed the price comparisons to the Starbucks store.

    Please know that the love Canadians have for Tim Hortons is for the former version before they were bought by Burger King in 2014. Tim Hortons was primarily know as a coffee shop with doughnuts for most of its existence since its inception in 1964 in Hamilton Ontario. The current fast food version is not what most Canadians love. From 5am till 6pm we go to the Tim Hortons drive thu for coffee!!!!!!

      @@kylohk A large coffee is $1.99, a donut is $0.99. You get a dozen donuts for $8.99 Canadian. Add another 5% GST on top of that if you are in one of the Western provinces (I live in BC).

      K Y Lo from Hong Kong I went there the following Saturday. It was very busy. My donuts were really poor! It left like they had been defrosted instead of freshly baked. It was as if they were a bit wet 🙁. I’m glad you had a better experience!

    • @kylohk
      @kylohk  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@VickiT89 I think it may be useful to know their "baking patterns". It's a 24 hour store and when I went in after my Christmas do this Friday past 10pm, and they still had many donuts on display. If we all knew when new donuts are made, we can just head there within an hour of a new batch comes out.
