As of late September '23 this still works, thanks! I was having trouble deciphering the various posts about it I found on reddit so this guide was exactly what I needed. A note: for me I couldn't input the run command while on desktop mode, I'm not sure why, but switching to gaming mode and inputting the run command there worked! Then I returned to desktop to install the mods. Also, I think then you install the mods you have to unzip/extract them. I just download the mods, move the folder from downloads to the plugins folder in the BepInEx folder, and then use Extract Here and that worked!
Ashlands update THIS STILL WORKS (June 3 '24) and this worked great. Thank you. Very simple process once I familiarized myself with the structure of the Steam OS and the built in keyboard 👈😠 I was unclear as to exactly what to put in the plugin folder at the end of the video: its the .dll files that are in the individual mods' plugin folder once you extract the downloaded from your preferred site (mine was thunderstore).
Hey bro I tried this also. My game crashes and gives me a crossplay error every time I try to load into a world. Do you play using proton or nah? I can load into a world using proton but then it doesn't recognise that I have any mods
@@mesahatesayou my steam deck bit the dust😭 so I haven't logged on in a while but I never messed with any proton stuff while I had it working. I'm sorry you're having issues! Simple check is to make sure all your plugins are the same version as the server's.
I did it step by step and when it’s starts it goes through the coffee stain, Irongate then Valheim. It then resets goes through it all but bepinex isn’t loading.
This seems to not be working anymore. Anyone else having issues? Brand new Steam OS install on Steam deck, installed valheim, followed instructions, however bepinex never runs and it's missing from the title screen top left.
if you've already downloaded bepinex before you have to remove all associated files before downloading again. I didn't have any saves on my steam deck yet so I just deleted all Valheim files and then reinstalled them though Properties -> Verify File Integrity. Then I followed this video and it worked for me. However if you have character or World saves deleting all Valheim files will also deleted those characters and worlds
I have watched he'd this video 30 times now and have followed every step exactly. I cannot get it to work for the life of me, my girlfriend wants to play with me and she wants extended daytime but I cannot get a single mod to work for the life of me
I cant see that command line in General your talking about. Right now i have this -console in that area. can you copy it for me i would like to try that. ty again for the video. nm you already did ty lol
You put it in that same line, I personally ditched the -console because the mods I'm using sort of replace the need for it, but I'm sure there's a way to run with both idk how though
@@ianmichaels713 in my case the console says it loaded 16 plugins successfully, main menu screen informs me that i play modded version but the mods take no effect in the game. I still play vanilla.

I moved it to the plugin folder but nothing is happening. How do i get the mod to work once i drag the folder to the plugins folder?

My buddy just got the game and I play on a modded server and wasn't sure if he can join up. Thanks to this, he will be able to.
Top left once you launch with bepinex says bepinex is running, you don't need to boot fully into the game unless you want to.

No, you do not need to start a new game., I added mods to my existing save.
