I've been listening to Less explain the row/Anti-Row for years. And TODAY was the first time it clicked that I haven't been able to separate my pushing and pulling mechanisms in my brain. Thanks to you both. Stay rad.
Yes! Many of us have a global push command -- we push with legs and arms. For the most part, legs and arms should be operating out of phase with each other. Stay tuned for a crazy video about that.
Just got done reading Lee's book. I've been riding for 2 years and my mind is blow. Just signed up for his online courses as well. Great source of knowledge and helping me really enjoy the sport (while being safe). Thanks Lee!
When I watched these videos I can actually see myself in them and so I went out and tried to separate my push to pull mechanics and my wheel just popped right in the air. WOOP! I was completely surprised and found myself implementing the row/anti-row in the process. The key for me is getting that initial pop off the ground and was not able to do that because I was pushing my legs and the bar down at the same time. Thanks!
@@lee_likes_bikes I’ll be on the lookout, I live to watch coaching, I’m all about spotting the details at this point. It’s just fun to me anyway, noting the vocabulary/language to explain these movement patterns. Thanks for the comment 👊✊🤙
Lee, I don't think you realise how much of a compliment this actually is. If an Aussie calls you a "Top bloke" and says "I'd have a beer with you anyday" Man, that's as good as it gets!

Love ya Lee! Thanks for all the wisdom! you & Alex are sharing. I'm looking at getting my 1st Dirt jumper coming from a road bike. I've been binge watching yours & Alex's over 40 series (I'm 50).
What a brilliant coaching session. I'm loving this technique, although I'm still learning it the old fashioned way. Lee's way looks much better and would definitely be a safer, more realistic option on the trail, However one bonus of learning the old fashioned way is that I've suddenly learned how to pop up easily into a manual, which I hadn't previously been able to do after a year of trying to learn it. Go figure!
Man this and Joy of Bike are the two biggest finds for me on TH-cam. Looks like I'm rowing kettlebells from the hinge for the foreseeable future to get my strength and stamina up.
Just started to learn the bunny hop the old way with leaning back as I read in your book. Glad there is a easier way to hop by standing in the middle of the bike. Why there aren't such talented mtb teachers in Germany!? :P
I stand taller when I bring the bars to my hips, pretty much like standing straight and get waaaaaaaay more air. Self taught though. Also from following and watching crazy good riding homeboys.
LEEEE! nice job! So excited to see this! Amazing learning tool for us mere newbies! Thank you for sharing - both you and student! GREAT lessons! I'm looking forward to trying the exercise I just learned!
I gotta say , the bike moving around the BB is true on the pump track and general riding , but for bunny hops I feel it's on the rear axle , because when I pull the way you describe i feel so much weight on my pedals 🙇♂️

Pull with your back. Way bigger muscles and they are over the center. Absolute no reason to use those small muscles. Everybody learn how to do proper pull ups and start knocking them out. I guarantee you will become a lot stronger of a rider. And that muscle will protect you when you wipe out.

Most people overdo that hip extension, and it messes up their hops. If you need MAX pop that's the way to go, but it's not necessary for most hops, and it slows down learning (for most folks). These days we go there once the basics are wired in.
