💔 My heart still breaks for dear George Burns. Forever the love of his life... he ALWAYS acknowledged & gave heartfelt credit to his beloved Gracie for her invaluable humor, for her unique style of "silliness" & for her warmth & joy that came so naturally to her. Her strengths & gifts that she contributed to their "Act" were like a beautiful, glowing ray of sunshine! And George knew it. He ALWAYS knew Gracie was irreplaceable & that sadly... the show couldn't possibly work without her. It was also widely publicized at the time how deeply painful Gracie's absence was for George, for the entire cast & for their loyal audience. They were keenly aware that her absence was just too painfully obvious for the show to be a success. The dear precious Mr. George Burns & our loveable absolutely adorable Ms. Gracie Allen, both individually AND as "Burns & Allen" were the consumate Class Act & are a National Treasure who will live on in our memory & in our hearts... forever & ever. May they rest peacefully in one another's arms for all eternity.💕
Wow strange to see Gracie Alken not here in this clip. I guess George Burns hadn't met her yet. Gracie kights up the world and nice to know George Burns best years were ahead of him once Gracie Allen entered the scene. She's the best ever comedian ever, so innocent and natural and graceful sunshine that she is
My dear, Robert Romero, This show ( The George Burns Show ) was the first without the lovely, Gracie Allen, and a new name, she had retired because of poor health and also stage freight. This couple had a fairy tale love story. And today 59 years later we still miss her. I watch ' The Burns and Allen Show ' anytime I am down and out and it never fails to make me feel better. Cheers !
Just as in the earliest "Burns and Allen" shows you'd find a musical performance, so too does the "comedy" stop for songs during this episode of "The George Burns Show." This show is unfortunate, tepid entertainment. All the script-magic that was crafted over the eight years of "B & A" has been lost; Gracie's absence is insurmountable. A valiant, sad effort.
I had looked forward to watching this because Gracie wasn't the only character that I liked on the old show, but this was a real let-down. New writers? Nearly every joke fell flat. The two versions of "La Vie en Rose" are worth watching, but nothing else is.
This was virtually the same show- with the same cast, writers and production crew as the previous series. The only element missing was GRACIE. Even George admitted it wasn't the same without her.
"THE GEORGE BURNS AND GRACIE ALLEN SHOW" ended in September 1958 {the last first-run episode aired on September 15th}. A month later, George's series premiered on NBC [Tuesdays, 9pm(et), just before "THE BOB CUMMINGS SHOW", also co-produced by him].
LandondeeL, in fact, Gracie suffered from a bad heart resulting from a childhood illness. Though I’m sure George’s smoking didn’t help, and may have exacerbated it, I have never heard of her heart disease ascribed to George’s smoking. You’ll have to provide a credible source for that claim to not be dubious.
@@LandondeeL ... I spent 43 years breathing second hand smoke and I don't have any pulmonary or cardiac problems. I know other people who don't after living with second hand smoke. Are all studies factual or what they want them to be?
@@LandondeeL Gracie had heart problems for many years and really needed a heart transplant. Thst was impossible in 1958 or 1964. George’s smoking didn’t help but had little or nothing to do with gracie’s health problems.

Too bad it’s shilling for a commercial, but Jimmie Rogers had a remarkable voice.
Even the Carpenter's first big hit "We've Only Just Begun", was originally performed as a commercial for Security Pacific Bank.
Burns never a star on his own. Disappointing m
Mmm, check The Sunshine Boys forward to his passing.
