Rollers! Join me for the start of adventure in Cairo, Egypt within Arkeis the board game created by Antoine Bauza, Corentin Lebrat, Ludovic Maublanc, Théo Rivière and published by Ankama. In this video I'll give you an overview and gameplay for First Steps Towards Glory. Hope this helps you decide on it and/or get it to the table faster. Thanks for watching and keep on rolling solo!
    FYI:
24:27 The X wouldn't have given an injury as the enemy was out when it was resolved.
Additionally, each Explorer that enters a room with an enemy takes an enemy profile card. The playmat doesn't make room for this but it's worth mentioning!

    "History is full of secrets...
As they explore an ancient Egyptian tomb, a team of archaeologists and adventurers stumble upon a mystery that History forgot. To uncover the truth, they will have to delve deeper and deeper in the pyramids, dodging deadly traps and fighting back swathes of monsters running after them. Has the old Pharaoh placed a curse on this expedition? Should some secrets remain untold? This story is now yours to complete...
Arkeis is a cooperative, story-driven, campaign game with minis set among ancient Egyptian ruins.
Each player takes control of an adventurer as they explore a modular board.
Players have up to two actions per turn: search, move, assist an ally or fight one of the numerous dangers waiting for them in the tombs! The results of their actions can be altered by the equipment and character upgrades they earn during the campaign.
They can push their luck at the risk of being cursed or suffering lasting traumas from injuries!
Each character has their own backpack to store their items (and curses) between adventures.
Each scenario has objectives that the players will try to accomplish during the game to earn rewards in the form of key items and upgrades that influence later scenarios.
It will take a team of skilled players to reveal all of Arkeis’s secrets!"

As always, I love the clean and clear manner you explain games. I recently picked up the retail version Arkeis and enjoy it's dungeon crawl-lite gameplay. There were a few things during your session that might be up for discussion on how they work. I have found rules translated from French often have a touch of the the vague that can be interpreted in different ways.
    1) I don't think the professor should have taken a 2nd damage at 24:27. Your ! attack eliminated the final scarab in the zone. You point out later these cards are resolved from the top down. The X you rolled is the last result resolved and it reads "Take a damage for each scarab in the zone." That number is zero. It doesn't have an affect on the end result, but it is an important thing to watch out for.
2)At 33:37 you use an additional die in combat with the crowbar. The crowbar should have been discarded when opening the door. Read the instructions at the bottom of the card event card associated with the door.
3)The rule for dealing with adversary cards state EACH explorer places an adversary cards in front of them when entering a zone with an enemy. Once an adventurer encounters an adversary, that card remains in front of them for the rest of the adventure. This becomes important when multiple adversaries enter the fray. When an explorer clears all adversaries of a type in their zone or enters a zone without an enemy type, the explorer flips that adversary card over in front of them. When playing solo I can see how this might be missed. The Kickstarter Exclusive play mat with a single space for adversaries doesn't help. I suspect that's a discard zone like the other pile locations on that side. Or the spot to stack the adversaries at the start of the adventure.
    As always, keep rolling!

Thanks for watching and the feedback!
      1. Correct, I knew this but somehow didn't wrong in that instance. Good eye! Mentioned in pinned comment.
      2. The additional die is correct as stated on the crowbar. The crowbar would have been discarded, I got caught up in explanations so good catch there.
      3. I missed the 'each' somehow. The playmat certainly doesn't lend itself to catching this haha. Mentioned in pinned comment.
      Cheers! ;D

Awesome video tutorial. Thanks a lot! I've ordered my Arkeis copy, cant wait to try it out. Decided to try it after your videos - thanks again. This is one of those kickstarters that boomed 3 years ago and now are buried under the sand of time, waiting to be discovered by those who dare...

I to ordered my copy. I think this will be a great addition to my collection and a great way to bring in some new players to the dungeon crawlers genre without overcomplicating things. I too decided to order this after watching your playthrough. Didn't know it existed, but excited to get it to the table when it arrives in the mail in a few days

    Nice explanation of the game.
QUESTION: how did you manage to get door tokens properly fit into the doors?
QUESTION2: where the search dice a special offering from the KS?
    thank you.

I pushed mine in! They were snug but fit. Yes, if memory serves those were a special offering during the KS. Would have to double check to be 100%
