They look delicious. Definitely use a smaller tip. After filling the pastry bag I would put it in the freezer for a few minutes to stiffen up the batter. The circles may hold together better and not spread or fall quickly.
Also, why do they have to be circles? They could be made straight like potato sticks. You would fit a great deal more on the baking sheet. You can decide if it's the flavor and texture that's important or if the shape is equally important.
I used a similar recipe with nutritional yeast shaped into cheeto shapes. It turned out great and tasted a lot like cheeze its. I love the crispy, salty snacks. This makes staying on plan much easier.
Thank you for this exciting recipe Here's an💡idea, 🤔 when I make tortillas (lol stay w/me) for the "flour" ones, I use only almond flour, BUT for my "corn" ones I use a combination (not quite 1:1 ratio) of 1/2c almond flour + 1/3c sweet white lupin flour (ONLY⚠️ the Sweet White💁🏻♀️) ...for ❓️whatever❓️ reason it gives it a more corn tortilla taste & texture🤗.....sooooo you might try a combo of the 2 flours for the batter 😊 Big 🙋🏻♀️Howdy from Texas & may you two have a Blessed day 💐
Where have you purchased your sweet white lupin flour? I see two different brands on Amazon, but they only say "sweet." Neither say or look white. Thanks!
I’ll try this recipe with sweet corn extract. I am a professional home baker. No, I do not eat my products 😂. I put the piping bag into a jelly jar and fold the top over the edge of the jar to form an opening. Fill it 2/3 full. As others have said, a smaller tip might help with the shape. But heck! These were delicious looking! Who cares about the shape!
I'm excited for round 2- these look great! I wonder, since sugar is often a common ingredient in savory snacks, if a dash of stevia or monkfruit would be helpful in boosting the corn flavoring 🤔 These look delicious. I remember where I was when I had my first Funyun (78!!)- so these are taking me back!
For your future use with a pastry bag if you’re just looking to pipe out a small circle, you don’t need to put the tip in it. That’s the metal thing. And you can cut the tip down lower to make thinner circles. The best way to fill a pastry bag is to put it into a cup drape the ends over fill and then pull it up and give it a little shake to have fulfilling go down into the tip.
😂😂😂 watching Emily rolling her eyes at Sarah’s idea about the dehydrator 😂😂😂 Reminds me of my sister who is ALWAYS rolling her eyes 🙄 at me, especially when I’m giving her directions while she’s driving…to a place she has no idea how to get to. I 🙄 back at her. 🤣 Ahhh, the sisterly love. 💋💋
I'm wondering if the ribbon piping tip would allow the mixture through it. If so, that would have the flatter Funyun shape. These chips were one of my faves....Cheetos were great, but not so great I wanted to try the recipe. This recipe, I want to try. Thank you ladies!
You guys make some really yummy looking snacks. I watch y’all make something and then buy all the ingredients and sometimes the stuff stays in my cabinet and fridge forever because I never remember what I was going to do with it. LOL ….I bought refrigerated egg whites over a month ago, but don’t remember the recipe I was going to make! Time to toss ‘em. This one looks interesting too, though, since I never liked Funyuns How do you, I probably won’t try to make this. I love you girls and I love watching you together. I always wanted to have a sister and y’all are so cute together! 😊
@@tristabengtson7823 Jot down the titIe of the vid so you can review it or write next to it the main obscure ingredient. I've a cupboard fuII of odd stuff. too.
Try piping it onto a pie pan -in concentric circles to make a “piecrust” for a quiche-or flat for Pizza crust. 🍕 Bake until ‘just done’ & Top with choice of pizza toppings, run under the broiler-If you left out the onion powder and garlic, you could use it as a crust for a low-carb custard pie! 🥧
Those sound yummy 😋 I would definitely recommend using a smaller piping tip, not bag😊 and some of the sweet corn flavoring might just do the trick! I'll give it a try too! Thank you ladies!❤ Oh? Funyons?🤣😂
Fun video! I hope that you two put it on your list to do this recipe again using some of your own taste test suggestions in addition to the subscriber suggestions for a new improved recipe.
Oh hey, maybe you could sub the cheese with . . . COTTAGE CHEESE!! 😅🤣😂😇 Sorry, not sorry lmao! They look amazing though, I've never heard of Funyons, here in Australia we have Twisties and damn I wouldn't mind having a keto refresh on them- but you can't even get cheese powder here so there's that maybe I'll try the funyon experience instead. You guys are amazing, finding a keto twins vid in my feed is the highlight of the day!
i was making something and decided to add pureed onion to the recipe and it kicked it up a notch, plus added bulk. I'm allergic to dairy too so I use collagen or gelatin or both. i saw another channel use unflavoured protein isolate. Since i'm dairy allergice i can't use whey proteins but use a bovine protein isolate like Equip Prime for example (it was impossible to find a complete protein that wasn't dairy and was affordable to me in canada, so i'm sharing for someone else's benefit). also since i can't' do dairy, I have tried vegan cheeses wjhich do work great but have to be careful because they are made of carbs.
Must be good, y'all almost ate the whole pan🤣 If you purchase a more advanced piping bag, it will come with metal or plastic tips to help you create shapes. The flat 'ribbon' tip will probably do well to recreate the 'Funyon' shape.
I'm fairly new to your channel, but I've been binge watching the last few days. I can't wait to try your crispy chaffel recipe! I do wish you were a bit nicer to each other in your videos though... 🙂 ❤
I wonder if this recipe could be tweaked with cinnamon and sugar sprinkled over it, (Minus all the onion Flavoring obviously) to make the cinnamon twists from taco bell??
You asked for suggestions -- maybe use a much narrower tip on the pastry bag to make the ring much thinner. They puff out as they bake. Also, despite Emily's awesome stare into the camera 😳😂 drying them in the dehydrator might be a good idea!

swap pork rinds for the almond flour and it will make them more crunchy
They look delicious. Definitely use a smaller tip. After filling the pastry bag I would put it in the freezer for a few minutes to stiffen up the batter. The circles may hold together better and not spread or fall quickly.
Great tips Janice!
Agreed. I might suggest a linear tip as opposed to a circular one. That would more closely resemble the OG.
Also, why do they have to be circles? They could be made straight like potato sticks. You would fit a great deal more on the baking sheet. You can decide if it's the flavor and texture that's important or if the shape is equally important.
I enjoy all your videos, fail, success or something in between! You keep it real and you are both entertaining!
Thank you so much, that means a lot to us!!
I wonder about not only a smaller piping tip, but also using xanthan gum to help with crisp, like you did in your (delish!) Chaffles!
I used a similar recipe with nutritional yeast shaped into cheeto shapes. It turned out great and tasted a lot like cheeze its. I love the crispy, salty snacks. This makes staying on plan much easier.
Try adding garlic and just before they finish in the oven sprinkle with Parmesan cheese for garlic bread sticks. 😋
Funyuns were my favorite snack through middle school and high school! I bet using silicone donut pans would really help with getting the funyun shape!
You got me laughing today, thanks. Love that you 2 came up with this b/c I’ve missed the Funyuns! I’ll be trying it for sure!

I've see people put the piping bag in a glass and fold it down over the outside glass. If you need something crispy this wld be good! Thanks ladies!
You need a smaller tip not a bag.
Hi girls. These look really great! You two do such great videos! Thank you!❤

Looks great! Just make onion sticks…😊
Those look GREAT! Also, thanks for making me giggle! 😂 I had a very stressful day and watching this cheered me up!

Funyons are so good. Will have to try that recipe
This look excellent and easy. Will try it.
They look a little different, but taste is everything! Great job sisters! Have a blessed weekend 💜🙏✌️🎶🌞🪻
So impressed with how creative y’all are! 👏🏼
What about using your crispy chaffle recipe with the seasoning here? That would definitely give it texture 😋
I like crispy snacks, will be trying these for sure! Thanks for your videos!
Those look really good!
Oh my! These have to be so good! Thank you for your hard work. :)
These look good and I think I’ll give this recipe a try.❤

I might have been wrong because there was someone that mentioned in the comments that they tried it and it worked! Lol
I roll my eyes at my twin, too haha! Only when she deserves it though. 😉

🤣

I was thinking instead of dehydrating maybe you can use it in a air fryer and see if that would crisp them up nicely😊

Funyuns were awesome, These may be interesting to try for sure.
Ya I was thinking frying them after or instead maybe would make it crispier but maybe the dehydrator would be better?
I don't even like Funions but I'll try this. I miss crispy, salty snacks.
pork rinds - high in protein and moderately low fat. Dip in sour cream.
What about using French onion dip ?!
I've never had a funyon but I am keen to try your recipe and I think I will try the pork rind substitution. I love you two!
Oh hey, maybe you could sub the cheese with . . . COTTAGE CHEESE!! 😅🤣😂😇 Sorry, not sorry lmao! yes i think the dehydrator will make them even better and a smaller tip not a star but just round
Thank you for a good laugh…😂 always…and all the trial recipes you do!! 🥰Looks delicious!!
Thank you for sharing this !
What about adding dill pickle or salt and vinegar popcorn seasoning to the base recipe.
Y'all are so funny! Loved the use of the funyon to size the low carb ones. I had no idea the regular ones are a carb each. I'm gonna give these a try.
❤️❤️
I put some of the Cheeto version in my dehydrator and they got nice and crunchy. I live in Washington state, so the oven drying just won’t cut it.
You two are such Chicago girls! I am Lindy from Indy and I say that with complete endearment!
I love y'all and I'm not even Keto
Awww ❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️
Need to make these, as this is one of my fav snacks.
A lot of carton egg whites are pasteurized and won’t whip up. Be sure to check your egg whites to see if they’re pasteurized or not.
I'd use a smaller rose tip (maybe a 103 or 102)
They sound delicious!
Great job ladies !🎉
WOW!
I haven't been around your side of TH-cam for weeks, and I can SEE you've lost weight!!
🙈🙈 ❤️❤️
Even I could make these. Good job!
You could use a small donut hole baking sheet, just don’t fill it up,
ooo flavors might have a flavor that would taste like funyuns. They do have cornbread flavoring that might mimic the cornmeal flavor.
How about using an onion flavored cheese?
💚
Hey we can learn from fails too 😉
I'm just here for Emily's funny faces! 😂Love you ladies!
She’s got plenty so stick around lol ❤️ -Sarah
Thank you for sharing this recipe ❤
🤗🤗🤗
Use a smaller pastry tip.

Nice job
Man I miss Funyuns
Would a small amount of shredded onions work?
Hmmmm I’m not sure! It might, but it might make the whole thing deflate
I was wondering if dehydrated onion would be good although it would up the carb count.
I was yelling, “1 Tbsp is too much onion powder!”, but you didn’t hear me. Typically 1 tsp is used in most recipes. Hahaha…too funny though🥰
Yeah one tsp would be sufficient 😂😂
Not avaliable in Canada 😢 Thrive ship to Canada please.
❤❤❤❤❤❤
I, too, ate a many bags of funyons?😂🎉
Wasabi!
Must be good, y'all almost ate the whole pan🤣
If you purchase a more advanced piping bag, it will come with metal or plastic tips to help you create shapes. The flat 'ribbon' tip will probably do well to recreate the 'Funyon' shape.
great tweeking ladies
good job girls
Can I substitute cream of tartar with anything else?
I don’t think so, it helps keep the egg white stiff
I'm fairly new to your channel, but I've been binge watching the last few days. I can't wait to try your crispy chaffel recipe! I do wish you were a bit nicer to each other in your videos though... 🙂 ❤
lol, it’s how we kid around
They are SISTERS. It wouldn't be real otherwise.
The newest version of the chaffIes is awesome and so simpIe. It's the crunch that I Iove!
@@ketotwins The banter between you two is fun! It's a "sister" thing!
Hey,keto twins❤
Hey!!
what if you dip in real onion rings and then bake?
I wonder if this recipe could be tweaked with cinnamon and sugar sprinkled over it, (Minus all the onion Flavoring obviously) to make the cinnamon twists from taco bell??
Yes! I think that would be yummy!
Your face when fail priceless.

is "funyuny" a new adjective? I think so! 🧅
