- Singer and actor Paul Nicholas had a top ten record in the UK with this 1976 single 'dancing with the captain'. Dancing with Mr. Nicholas in this clip are Him & Us, a dance troupe choregraphed by Theresa Scoble, who dances here with her twin sister Lesley a part of the ensemble. The fellows doing the introduction at the start of the clip are Arrows band members Alan Merrill and Terry Taylor.
I recently watched re-runs of 'Just Good friends' with Paul Nicholas & Jan Francis. It was a very funny programme. He is very versatile. He's done comedy, singing, theatre work and recently a bit of straight acting. What a wonderful smile he has.
I was a massive fan of Paul Nicholas from his first hit , I think he was great what is strange is that i really looked like him until I was around 40 and then I got a bit more portley and now at 53 I look more like st nicholas. He has a great smile absolutely right.

Introducing this 1976 clip is former Arrows lead guitarist Terry Taylor who played as opening act (for Led Zep's long awaited epic reunion show) with Bill Wyman's Rhythm Kings at the 20,000 seat 02 Arena monday, december 10th, 2007 in London.
Guesting with the Rhythm Kings was Paul Rodgers of Bad Company and Free.Terry is a founding member and the musical director of The Rhythm Kings since the band started.

wonderful choreography as always by ms teri scoble ,good to see nicky hinckley who joined him and us for this series of the arrows ,nicky eventually went on a few years later to be a choreographer herself

The Captain that is mentioned is clearly rather unhinged, abandoning his duties, and a basic concept of health and safety, in order to pursue this surreal dancing. 'Pretty soon the Captain was out of control' clearly describes a man that is clinically insane, arrest this captain!

It's highly unprofessional for the crew of a vessel to ignore their duties in favour of dancing, with or without the captain. Safety is compromised and the lives of the passengers can be put at risk. Songs like this encourage such practices and should be banned.
