Shakespeare's great political thriller finds dark contemporary echoes in modern Africa, directed by RSC Chief Associate Director Gregory Doran.
The company includes Paterson Joseph as Brutus, Cyril Nri as Cassius, Ray Fearon as Mark Antony and Jeffery Kissoon as Caesar.

The BBC does a good job translating the play to film, with magnificent close-ups. Yet nothing can rival the power of seeing this production on stage with all of its dynamic, dramatic, and musical force. The acting is astonishing with kudos to Patterson Joseph and Ray Fearon.
For those of us unable to see the theatrical production in the UK, I hope the Royal Shakespeare Company posts more videos from this production, which looks absolutely brilliant.
Yes. This actor encapsulates misplaced grief, and more, he suggests an almost eagerness to get revenge. Excellent.
This was an absolutely incredible show, seen in Stratford.
saw the matinee yesterday.. had already watched the film.. nothing can match the live astonishing production... thank you wonderful RSC for bringing this production to N'castle.. the speeches are still ringing in my head.!!

What an amazing voice. Just stunning. Unfortunately as my own Shakespeare company is on hold I'm too poor to go and see anything. What a terrible shame. This looks to be a pivotal moment in Shakespearean theatre at the RSC.
BBC Four will be showing a film version of the production in the summer - watch out for that!
Modernizations of Caesar have been tried plenty, but setting it in a third world dictatorship is a brilliant twist.
