I return to southern Alabama to continue where I left off. I take the Mobile Bay ferry, wander around Dauphin Island and then go to Mobile to visit the USS Alabama.

This is how I discovered your channel. My Dad served aboard the USS Alabama so I looked it up and there you were! He was the barber so you know what kinda haircut I got as a kid. I also lived in Spanish Fort for a while. Beautiful area. Thank you!

This was something, cleaning my basement as I play ur video and sure enough I came across a mini teddy bear that I bought with my dearly departed wife who with me in 1989 travelled from Florida to Alabama and stopped and toured the USS Alabama! I was about to add the Teddy bear to my donation collection but watching this now may be a sign to hold onto it in keeping those memories! Excellent work Robert, regards from Canada!!

Really enjoyed the tour of the USS Alabama. I actually toured that ship years ago when I was a kid. My dad and his brother were on the USS Oklahoma on December 7th, 1941 and both were lucky to survive. The Oklahoma and the Arizona were the only two battleships destroyed that day.

Robert, this was a much improved video. You are back on the road, flying your Drone. Enjoyed the USS Alabama. I will give you a pass on the cooking scene. We know you eat, you are still among us. Keep telling us about the places you go, the restaurants and campgrounds. You might want to type these in at the end of a video so we can freeze our picture and write down their names.

I re-enlisted in the navy onboard the USS Alabama in 1980. The ceremony took place under the forward gun turret and was attended by my commanding officer who performed the ceremony as well as a visiting admiral. My entire division was present too. The ship I was stationed on was in dry dock at the back then ADDSCO.... Alabama dry dock and ship building company.

I toured the battleship Missouri in Pearl Harbor. I took the guided tour as it was only a few dollars more. It gets you into areas the self guided tour doesn't and the tour guide was really good.

Hey, I thought of you the other night when I was watching the new episode of The Grand Tour, "Lochdown" -- the hosts were towing some vintage trailers and things didn't work out too good for the trailers! They also had an entertaining RV episode ("International Buffoons Vacation") where they drove their modified rigs around the southwest and ended up in an RV demolition derby. Happy trails!

Hey Robert, love the video's. I noticed that you did not cross your safety chains when you hitched up. If you cross your chains and something happened and it came loose the crossed chains will prevent the tongue gouging into the ground and really doing damage. Be safe out there brother. I had to be taught as well. God bless you with traveling mercy's.

Robert you need to have your trailer axles aligned. They are never aligned from the manufacturer. If you tow over 10k miles a year it's a must. Mine cost $450, but you save that in one set of tires. Happy travels.

Hi, Robert 👍🏻👍🏻 Awesome !!! I enjoyed watching your adventure and tour of the USS Alabama, I was 8 yrs old when we were on vacation in Mobile and my Dad wanted to do the tour of the ship that’s where I found out I was afraid of heights we were at the very top just like you were I went over to the railing to look down I was on the ocean side I remember like it was yesterday I grabbed the rails my Dad said I turned white as a sheet lol I would not let go of the rails so my Dad had to carry me down, we toured the whole ship I especially liked the bow area where all the big gun turrets were located. Thanks for sharing, enjoy and have a Great week !!! Danny

If you ever come back to Mobile be more public about it. I am so proud to be a Mobilian and would love to have you as a guest for a few days. I have family on both sides of the bay and 3 reliable boats between us. We will show you really fascinating areas, you will eat well, and you will see things that don't show up on tourist brochures. We know of areas accessible only by boat that I think would delight you.

I remember visiting the USS Alabama many years ago and remembered thinking if I ever got lost in here, they wouldn't find me in 100 years (and no way a cell phone would work inside all that steel) You can definitely spend several days seeing the ship, sub, planes and everything else in that area.

Hey, waddya know! - I was just trying to get a bit more acquainted with the areas where hurricane Sally is hitting this part of the coast today, and naturally, my good friend Robert had an awesome video of his trip throughout this part of the Golf coast, and thanks for taking us along your excursion and giving those unique glimpses of the myriad facilities aboard the USSN ‘’ALABAMA’’ and the ‘’DRUM’’ (reminded me of my visit on the SS ‘’QUEEN MARY’’ berthed in Long Beach, Cal., even though these vessels are worlds apart in so many respects…)
Appreciate your great, clear footage, relaxed (and soothing) narrative (and choice of music!), also, good to see you get back ‘home’ to the RV, treating yourself to a tasty meal after trying to digest this day’s many impressions! - Hope you're doing great my friend!

Next time, stay at the city owned campground on Dauphin Island, then you can walk down to the east end (about three blocks) and visit Ft Gaines, across the street is the Estuarium (allow 2 or 3 hours here) where you can learn about the environment and marine estuary of Mobile Bay (average depth of the bay is 10 ft, all of those rigs you see in the bay are natural gas, Mobile Bay is the largest natural gas field in the US) and you can walk out the south gate of the campground to the public beach, or out the west gate of the campground to a 100+ acre Audubon Sanctuary with walking trails, ponds, sand dunes, pine forest. The ferry is just across the street from the campground, and for five bucks you can ride across and back on foot or with a bike, and see dolphins, birds, boats and sunsets. The only time RV's and such are allowed on the ferry is when the tide is extremely high, as the approach angle of the ramp at Ft Morgan makes loading/unloading of long or low vehicles questionable with normal tides.

I love your videos. Over the years your production has become very good. It would be an honor to meet you. Since I’ve been working from home, my wife and I have not been able to travel like you; but, doing so in an RV would be very interesting. I may see what renting one would be like for maybe a weekend.

Really a great job filming. That bit at the end showing hooking up the trailer and pulling out was a brilliant addition to the video.Little things like that really make things interesting.

The battleship is one of my favorite things to do in the area !! They have reenactments every two months. You should try for that one time. Very cool. Just don't try the food at the lunch counter in the park there.. no bueno... but my friend.. what a WONDERFUL video this time!! Very accurate depiction of the area of the world that has my heart !! You should come back and we will check o uh t the reenactment and then tour the florabama again!! All on me my friend.. be safe and have fun !! Kelly.

Dauphin Island, is pronounced "Dô-fən" ; it comes from the French word for "dolphin" , and historically it's also a royal title for a French prince.

Great video, as usual. I’ve visited the battleship a couple of times, during the summer. It gets very hot.. You seek out the few spots that do have AC.
