Maria Callas used to sing a lot with Mario del Monaco until maybe 1953 (?) and they matched perfectly. It's a pity that they didn't continue.

It was reported that they didn't really like to sing with each other. When you look at their artistry, it kind of makes sense. Callas, a master of subtly and nuance. Del monaco--bombastic, triumphant. But I agree with you, They were perfect foils to each other.

The In Questa Reggia, at least, is a fake. It's put together from her 1954 and 1957 recordings. This is not her 1950 voice, but the voice of the post-weight loss Callas .

Un air un peu à la limite de ses possibilités, mais qu'elle tient très honorablement à cette époque, même si elle se fait coiffer sur la fin par un Del Monaco sans pitié, mais bien moins musical.

As usual Callas does a lot of interesting things, especially when she is singing softly. A bit surprising was Del Monaco wiping her out on the high C at the end.

La Turandot mi sembra quella del 1957 con Eugenio Fernandi disturbata ad arte per farla sembrare un live del 1949 e sostituendo Fernandi con Del Monaco. Quindi un FALSO! Del resto la voce della Callas è affaticata e regge con difficoltà la tessitura. Gradirei i parere di qualche ascoltatore attento!

Hai ragione, o l’incisione completa del 57 oppure l’aria registrata nel 54. Di certo non è un live del 49. Esistono invece stralci della scena degli enigmi con Del Monaco nel 49 e sono straordinari

Si sente perfettamente
La voce è più in difficoltà ma il fraseggio è più accurato.
Aggiungo: credo sia il 54.
È affascinante.

Che io sappia non esiste la registrazione integrale di questa aria cantata dalla Callas al Colon. Ne consegue che quella che si sente qui è quella registrata per l'album Eroine di Puccini del 1954. Nel '57 gli acuti erano più metallici, sebbene la Callas fosse in buona forma quando incise l'intera opera.
