Healthcare clearinghouses: Organizations that handle electronic health information, including claims and payment information, for other healthcare organizations.
Business associates: Companies that provide services to covered entities and handle ePHI on their behalf, including IT and cloud service providers, billing and coding companies, and other third-party vendors.
HITRUST certification is particularly important for organizations that are subject to HIPAA compliance requirements, as the HITRUST framework incorporates HIPAA requirements and provides a comprehensive approach to managing security and privacy risks in healthcare. It appears HITRUST has more controls/standards compared to other standards/controls like say NIST etc. This goes to confirm or lend credence to your point about HITRUST being if you like " top of the line" or "first among equals". Again, the name alone speak volumes😂. My lil 2 cents!
