Can You Beat Ratchet and Clank: Tools of Destruction With Only the Wrench?

- My A Crack in Time run from before was really hard and really fun to do. So, why not do another one? Let's figure out if you can get through Ratchet and Clank: Tools of Destruction while only using the wrench. You know, because I like to torture myself.

1. For the part at the end of the 3rd level when you used weapons, it’s possible to get the flying enemies by using the gelanator gadget. Use it where the enemy is, go on top of it, and throw the wrench
2. For the part in apagee space station with the turret on the top, it’s actually possible to get with the wrench but it’s very tough. You have to keep using the chargeboots and hyperstrike and the right time
3. To get that part on ublik passage wrench only with that enemy on the top, there’s a way you can take that will skip you though that whole section. It’s not hard to pull off

@@davidalbers1143 right before you are about to hit that turret on the top, go back a little bit and use your chargeboots to get speed and hyperstrike at the right time
There are 3 leviathan souls on Cobalia, and you can use them to get the launch codes for the shuttle without killing any outside the space station

If you killed all 3 of the leviathans on cobalia, then kept their souls instead of selling them to the smuggler, you could've kept them and traded them at apogee without having to face any apogee leviathans, I do that all the time, because on cobalia the souls are only worth 2000 bolts, on apogee they're worth 4000, so I trade them there, now on sargasso they're worth 8000, but I use a glitch there on the dinosaurs to get tons of souls by using the groovitron and physically pushing them back into the water, it causes them to release dozens of souls as they die tons of times, sometimes it kills them permanently and sometimes they'll respawn if you die, so it's a somewhat repeatable glitch, using this method is the easiest way to get bolts in both regular and challenge mode.
Thanks for sharing! I usually don't use glitches, unless I randomly find exploits like the battle against Zorthan. On top of that, in this run bolts were almost useless to me😂 Still kept smashing boxes though

ACTUALLY YOU CAN BEAT the ennemies at 6:55 just to hit in the back ( pretty difficult yes ) but you can , and use the gelatonium for the ship
Hall of knowledge stores things like coordiantes of planets and the data of the planets as well.

Just watched this and your ACIT run! I always love challenge runs in games and I love seeing the future games get some love! Would love to maybe see the 2016 reboot or Into the Nexus or perhaps something with the Uncharted games.

I am planning to do Into the Nexus wrench only and maybe Uncharted without shooting or something in the future. But first, I am working on a big project. A run that is hard, but also very fun. Will keep that a secret for the time being😉
It is possible to defeat the shielded enemies with the wrench, you have to get behind them and then do a hyper-strike or do the wrench-throw at them, also, the Hall of Knowledge is able to be beated by the wrench, you have to get behind the spawned shielded enemies and do the hyper-strike/wrench-throw and then when you reach the flying enemy Drophyds, use the Gelanator to get high enough to throw the wrench at them! So it was possible! So no weapons were needed, it was said that you needed a Gelanator, so do another try and remember what I taught you!
Yeah, people memtioned that. But still, the big robo pirate hanging at the Ublik Passage is not possible to beat with only the wrench

I've just found this channel,and i really like your videos! This was a very interesting challange,possibly the only one i saw for tools of Destruction. But,did you really called a turett a "he"? :-D
Also, on the apogee soace station, isn't it possible to fly to the spot using Clank,so you don't have to kill the leviathans and use the smuggler's ship? I don't know how reliable this is,but i remenber i once flew there.

Currently playing the game wrench only and no armor, haven’t had any troubles, you might wanna look up some guides or speed runs next time cause it didn’t feel very thorough on your end.

Would be great to know if you can beat the following items using only the wrench: "Ratchet & Clank quest for booty", "Ratchet & Clank: All 4 one", "Ratchet & Clank: Qforce"
You should try some out of bounds stuff if you can, I say that mostly because I don't really know how this game deals with out of bounds stuff and how the collision is
I know that you can use the Shock Ravager to skip many things in this game. But I always prefer beating the game "normally". Unless I figure out something crazy like the battle with Zorthan :)
@@obscurevideogameruns6250 yeah, that was prtty exciting, I also prefer playing the game the way it was intended, I only sometimes go out of bounds or skip stuff, if the circumstances call for it
Ooh ratchet and clank 1 wrench only, drek is EXTREMELY difficult and ratchet and clank ps4 is doable but nefarious takes 6 hours according to tealgamemaster, i just stopped when i got to neffy

You should do a wrench-only run and hammer-only run on Ratchet & Clank: Rift Apart next (if you have a PlayStation 5).
In the meantime, there is an indie Ratchet & Clank-esque platform-shooter/Metroidvania game called Iconoclasts but I'm not sure if a wrench-only run is plausible. The main character of Iconoclasts is also a wrench-wielding mechanic: th-cam.com/video/zdHmrjMs9ew/w-d-xo.html

Does this game have a first person mode, or a way to zoom in first person like the classic entries?
If yes, have you tried the wrench throw in first person? If it's like the classics, it'd let you throw the wrench upwards in first person. If it's not, then rip.
It has a zoom in mode, but it works quite different from the first trilogy. So unfortunatly that's no option

i rewatched this run and ahh it made me start my own run. Not wrench only, just the starter weapons only. And oh my, this gane is really unbalanced. i realised it might be one of the gardest ratchet game, after ratchet 1 and ratchet 2 (ratchet 1 is now easy to me, but generally its much harder gane than other ones)... the amount of damage you take even in first levels of the game is just unbelievable (and this was designed to be the base difficulty of the game, for most players... abd it feels worse that hard difficulty in crack in time, that i played like last week i think, or something like that)
anyway, lvl 5 combustor is already not that effective on apofee station... abd you die in 2-3 hits from enemies. in other ganes i was able to use starter weapons decently well but... thus game is really bad for it
bit oh well, not sure if i will continue it soon, as i was in the middle of doing the 100% run, bit wanted to try how hard it is... it was hard
i cant believe how much patience you had to do wrench only.....
please re do this properly, the stratos city one in map room you had to glitch the gelenator from cobalia,then use gel to create a platform and throw the wrench

Actually, Deadlocked is completely impossible. The tutorial won't even let you move unless you shoot a guy, and there's two challenges where your weapons are automatically determined that won't let you use the wrench to even deal damage, both of which are mandatory to complete.
@Ben I am pretty sure All for one is also impossible wrench only. The first level forces you to use weapons against the target practice things right after you have to buy the first weapon to be able to continue and the game also forces you to use weapons against the first boss. So unless someone can find some glitches that can make one skip those sections, that game is impossible wrench only.
