The atelier series is a series about cute girls doing cute things, helping people, and fighting mountain sized monsters with homemade nuclear bombs while being followed around by a heavy metal band.

I'm one of the requester(Azure23z). Glad you enjoy it. Atelier Series OST is so underrated that no one ever reviewed/react to it even though there so many good track. I always found the series to have the most consistent OST where I just can't find a bad track. I going to keep sending more your way.

Fun fact I just remembered: There's a music player you unlock after playing this game, and it includes comments from the composer for each track, which can be anything from a discussion of their process to random ramblings about their life.
Composer comments for this track: "The bass is played by Lucifer, and the violin by Ono. I asked my old friend chiybow, who I hadn’t seen in 7 years, to play the guitar. This is unrelated, but I saw a dream where I was watching TV and drinking sake with someone who seemed to be my girlfriend. When I woke up, I was at work. I cried. (Asano)"

As someone who discovered and started playing these games through the music, it's hard to imagine them without it. However, I'd say that the more intense songs like this do fit like a glove in the sense that they play for rather high-stakes scenarios in an otherwise low-stakes story.
The games are generally rather laid-back action-adventure RPGs where you're not necessarily out to complete some grand quest or kill god or whatever, but instead just working towards a rather personal or focused goal that may or may not coincidentally result in you fighting some godlike entities in the process. So when you suddenly go from "time to harvest some wild plants and mine some minerals for this alchemical recipe" to "time to defeat this high-ranking demon summoned from the pits of hell to get some rare resources for an alchemical recipe", the music has a suitable jump in intensity.

In my opinion, one of the greatest video game tracks of all time. I'm a huge fan of orchestral music and especially orchestral rock. I think whoever composed this absolutely nailed it! 😄

12:40 since atelier games usually focus not only the alchemist protagonists but also the characters around them, depending on the context, there could be mystical dreamy or happy-go-lucky music, to opera or metal music, and they'd fit perfectly fine.
Of course, different ateliers have their bias in music genres according to the settings, but they won't hesitate to throw a 180 if it fits, making the journey very "in-the-moment" (and there's weirdly a lot of metal... hmm...)

What I really like about Atelier music is even when it goes hard, it still retains a sense of wonder. Especially the main motif that starts at 2:49
It really feels like 'yep, this is Atelier.'
Also it is impressive that the percussion in this part sounds like distant thunder.
Besides, most Atelier music are more towards unwinding😁
This is the BGM of the hidden boss that comes after the 'final boss' and things get rather serious for once in a while.

Sophie was the first Atelier game i played, and one of two i've 100%!
'Thistle Lotus', 'Juno', 'Leila Xea' and 'Saturnus' are absolute JAMS in Sophie!
Pretty Art on the PS Store had me pick up Atelier Sophie and YS8: Lacrimosa of Dana on Sales and both games in different ways sold me on their respective series. Sophie selling me on its Trilogy (Sophie, Firis, Lydie & Suelle) and YS8 selling me on the series as a whole. Memories of Celceta and YSIX have been some of my favourite games i've played and for both these series the Music is amazing.

Atelier series has so many good battle themes.
And most of them composed by Hayato Asano! Legend.

Pretty sire most of the legendary Atelier Battle themes are actually composed by Daisuke Achiwa. Amano is a relatively recent addition to the Gust sound team and most of his works are found in Blue reflection and the Ryza games.

Renan here, although I haven't played this entry in the series yet I really love its OST.
I will also say that this type of song isn't what I would espect just from looking at the games from outside but, that may be the reason why it works so well in the end.
Hope you get to hear more Atelier songs in the future.

I've been paying Atelier games since Atelier Iris in early 2000s and still playing them (Atelier Ryza) up to this day.
Normal battle themes usually pretty chill, but boss battles?
🤘🏻 BRING ON THE METAL! YEAH! 🤘🏻

It would be great if you could listen to the full Atelier Ryza battle game OST!
Atelier Ryza: Enlightenment and Look inside yourself, you’re more than you ever become.
Atelier Ryza 3: Summer Dawn, Lark Ascending into Ultramarine and Epoché

Very relaxing and it has a great atmosphere, the Metal is dope but I wouldn't mind it keeping the chill vibe. Sitar with metal is interesting, the electric guitars are banging like always. That violin at 2:21 is beautiful and the part right after has some strong emotion attached to it. I love the variety of instruments here, it keeps the composition interesting. That super heavy section was interesting and the part right after has a cool feel. Dope song I like it.

Sophie might be one of the Ateliers that I'd rank lower (because if you rank them, one just needs to be at the bottom), but I did spend SO MUCH time with this game as I played the normal version first and then the Deluxe Edition when it came out. It's grown on me even if I'd say that it's weaker than other entries. But after playing Atelier Sophie 2, from which the music stuck to me a lot, it's amazing to hear the same instruments/tone was already used in 1! It does give the individual entries their characterization!
And you have to keep in mind, these boss tracks are for a turn-based fighting style :D It really raises the question how the composers get to this level, it's just amazing!

man this game , this good damm game make me a big shift in my way to view videogames, i always like the videogames even when i was a child with 4 years, but after a lot of years playing a lot of game, Atelier sophie was the first game who revitalized the videogames for me , and from that point i view the game with a more funny way, this game is relaxing and pretty chill and very funny i love everything from this game and the ENTIRE SOUNDTRACK is a masterpiece, i am a big fan of Atelier series now , is a pretty old and modern series, who after more than 25 years in the market they stiill feels fresh because in every game they change mechanic and put new things, this is a franshise where all games are good , is quite inpressive , i totally recomend Atelier series, and here is where that song take place th-cam.com/video/8AjjdhgcWiQ/w-d-xo.html , recorded by me

Atelier games are exactly what they look like; cute girls doing cute thing and going on low-stakes adventures with little drama along the way.
The composers just have the artistic freedom to go as hard as they please with the battle tracks and they rarely disappoint. The rawness of the music arguably doesn't match the tone of the franchise and the stories contained within, but it's certainly not a loss.

You run an alchemist shop, You try to make friends to help you make it successful by harvesting ingredients through battle and exploration, then using the crafting system to make items to fight and sell. Meanwhile the problems of whatever town/island/country you are in find their way to your door.
It is basically part life sim, part turn based RPG, part crafting game.

"We're going to have a cute and wholesome adventure, but we're still gonna rock hard when the time comes" is most of what the Atelier games are. They're mostly turn based RPGs where you work as an alchemist all while fighting giant monsters with a JRPG party.
It's what you'd expect the daily life of a JRPG protagonist is when they're not fighting gods or saving the world.
Hayato Asano is responsible for a lot of their music. Check his stuff out!

When the Atelier OST goes hard, you're usually fighting something that'd really enjoy eating the faces of every anime character within reach.

Ah, my favorite Atelier game, tied with Firis. Sophie has such an especially great soundtrack too. It's so, well... mysterious! There are a lot of very unusual tones and chord progressions used throughout the whole thing, but mostly in the character themes.

If I remember correctly I think the composer is Daisuke Achiwa. Though I thing GUST (the company that makes the Atelier games) have more than one composer as of almost a decade ago I think.

The Atelier series likes to throw big 180s at you.
The sound track always has to be good.
But every game you will find that one banger that you feel doesn’t fit and generally it’s the world is telling you “it’s time to go from zero to a hundred”
I describe it the same way when I heard Gojo Satori’s Hollow Purple theme.
It’s an awesome and exotic power at work.
I would like to recommend more of these Atelier songs!

Atelier does have a habit of possessing unexpected "let's rock" themes, but in general yes I do think the songs fit given all the games have this unexpected harvest festival vibe to them. Somehow it just works despite most of what alchemists do entails running a business selling whatever random cakes, bombs, medicine, ect. result from experiments🤣

I tried playing an Atelier game. It was one of the first I had for PS4. I thought the art was great but the dialogue was awfully simplistic and seemed to be aimed at a very young audience. I don't think I was able to stick with it for more than 2 days.
