And there is nothing wrong with it. People can visit and learn a bit about something growing in the wild or in their very own gardens. I myself have a more or less poisonous garden. I was always interested in so called medical herbs, medieval monastery gardens, pharmacy gardens. Therefore I collected a few interesting plants. Does not mean I want to use these plants to get rid of someone, but I could. That aside I have some interesting mushrooms growing too. Sadly not edible or only once. Anyhow, I was a bit surprised to see some meadow sweet in full glory in the poisonous garden. The plant is not poisonous but has great medicinal value.
This was a great video but to be honest, I'd prefer if every story had a video of its own (lasting between five to ten minutes). That way I can choose which topics interest me better and each video, each story, gets the honor it deserves.
I believe all of these are actually separate videos on their channel that are more than a couple years old. Like from before they shut down for a year or so. I'm just kinda upset that its a compilation video of previous content than new content.
the poison garden.... 😅 good idea. have several gardens. bring the people you like to the regular garden. bring the people you hate to the poison garden.
Talking to your vegetables and even playing music for your vegetables is actually good for them! It makes them grow bigger and healthier! Mythbusters even proved it! So shame on his wife for preventing him from growing even bigger vegetables!
Your boy botanist John medley.... The last name wood... Shows he was just being extra... Any way bro boy didn't discover shi its always been known so chill
They said in the video that you need a female tree and a male. This one is a male. So they either have to find another (female) tree, or maybe they will try some gene editing. But maybe thats not possibe
According to Wikipedia, they have actually made clones of this last male plant; however the clones are of course all male and can therefore never propagate naturally (repopulating the species using this approach is not practical; i.e. I am guessing the best we could hope for with this approach would be to produce samples for botanical gardens or small/protected groves). The wiki article also describes how they've been able to create successful / fertile hybrids by crossing the original plant (or one of its clones) with other closely related species.....but of course the results of this are not really the same as the original species (i.e. instead the result of this process is essentially a new/closely related hybrid species). Unfortunately unless other wild specimens (hopefully female) of this species of cycad are discovered - then the plant will likely remain "extinct in the wild".
I'm glad to see your channel back again! 👍This is just my opinion, but I think you should work on making your video titles more flashy and concise like; "The RAREST gardens", "Gardens you've NEVER heard of", or "BEST gardens on Earth". Also adding large font text blurbs at a slanted/diagonal angle to the thumbnails like "100 POUND" when describing the zucchini, "DINOSAUR TREE!!", or even emojis like "☠" with an arrow for the deadly gardens and using the multiple thumbnail feature to see what gets the most clicks. TBH (sadly) it's really all about harnessing peoples tictok brains nowadays and I feel like theres a way to maintain this channels class while getting more view's (even more-so with shorts). I LOVE the editing style btw, it's the best thing to enjoy my lunch with on this entire site ❤.
As I understand it, sometimes videos get permanently taken down by TH-cam (sometimes just the automated pruning system) due to a myriad of reasons stemming from copyright laws. Sometimes they get triggered erroneously, yet they never get released when the iron’s still hot. Never knew of this particular upload, but I am sure glad they posted it

Hi
There are three Encephalartos woodii at Lotusland in Lotusland in Santa Barbara, CA and they are male as well.
How sad 😭
@@ski7792 yes! There are three Encephalartos woodii at Lotusland. It even says it on their website.
theyre males because they're clones of the original
@@Alsry1 I realize they’re males and offshoots, but they are still real plants.
@@Alsry1 is there only one original male?

@@GreatBigStory hello 👋 🐯
Plot twist. Dude murdered the other trees in order to make this one lonely without a mate
At least I'm not the only one who will die alone.
There are still woodii plants in Africa that is not the last of its kind!

Why don’t we grow giant vegetables like this would help feed so many people
I think the bigger question is... how does he know the exact amount of berries it will take to kill a child?!!😳 Very informative video for sure, tho!
That last video didn't quite fit the "extreme gardens" vibe?
This tree is in plethora in my area
nothing more British than finding something in Africa and taking it.
What if you took a bite of each of the plants

Why can't they repopulate the cycads. I feel like we could take samples and somehow make clones. 😅

Is there anything authentic in Britain? Like something they didn't take from elsewhere?
Wait, so until they find a female for the tree you’re going to keep it company? What are we talking about here

Back when trees had genders.
BURN YOUR SKIN FOR 7 YEARS????
Yeah, I got it once, but it only lasted 2 months thankfully. Never crawling through unknown bushes again.
It normally doesn’t last nearly that long but it is possible
Yep. And it grows wild all over the UK. All hogweeds have the same ability, but the giant one has more extreme symptoms.
Great big story!? I though you died
