As a young boy in the 70s Glasgow Rangers were my home town team. But I always thought Workington were a very proud local club with loyal fans, so I adopted them as my English team.. Would genuinely love to see them back in the football league. If Barrow and Accrington can do it, so can Workington. Good luck.
Very sadly, the lady you see here...Joan Crellan sadly passed away in January, 2024. She was taken ill at a home game the day before. RIP Jean, Workington Super Fan.
Voted out of the League by all teams I believe Carlisle United also voted us out of the Football League. Thanks fellow Cumbrians, we wouldn't have done that to you. Never been at that level since. Gone just like that no more playing Liverpool and Man United in the 50s/60s....up the Reds.
It's worth looking at the Division Four league tables on Footballsite in the seasons up to 1976/7 ...over quite a few years, they had a few narrow escapes. The year before in 1976, they only achieved just three more votes than Yeovil Town. The site gives a full run down of the re-election votes awarded, including the potential new entrants. Even in 1977, that Carlisle vote would have made no difference,...the Reds were well adrift. And even on their league performance, they were 18 points/9 wins adrift of the safety line. I assume they were effectively relegated by Easter, only winning four games all season.
Up Workington Reds! YNWA. We need funding massively asap. A grass roots sports/science educational centre for west Cumbria as kids that would have played in the premiership are not getting a chance to no fault of there own. No investment from our main danger Sellafielld. They have billion's spent what would it do bankrupt them? The Lotto charities and more. How do we ask for this to be considered and planned?
Beat Newcastle Town 3-0 on Saturday were closing in on top of the League. People don't trust some of upper management with money, history or relevant. Investment is needed.
Hello Mr Buzz. Thanks very for this Try as I might, I can't seem to find part 1 Any chance of you being able to put an accessible link to it ? Thanks very much

Remarkable to see herself as the younger version, she was a true fan.
She lived a long life, she died aged 94.
