Great Games - The 1953 FA Cup Final

Filmed in 1981 this fascinating review of the 1953 FA Cup Final featured interviews with the former players of both teams, Sir Stanley Matthews, Stan Mortensen, Jackie Mudie, Bill Ridding (Bolton Manager) Eddie Shimwell, Bill Perry, Cyril Robinson, Nat Lofthouse, Willie Moir, Ralph Banks, Stan Hanson and Ernie Taylor.

Saw it on my dads lap. My first birthday..May 2nd 1953. now 71. Still support the Pool…many teams frightened to play us!..also no players falling on the ground as if shot like nowadays

Lot of nostalgia there. Back about this time, we stayed in a boarding house close by Stan Mortensen's sports shop and Dad bought me an air pistol for my birthday. Didn't see Stan though.

Goalkeepers were poor in those days Hanson used to have the post office facing Burnden Park at least Bolton lost!
