This was one of my best friend’s favorite song. She was one of the best people I’ve ever met and helped me become the person I am today. There’s not a day that goes by that I’m not thinking of her and the legacy she left behind. She passed away in 2015. This song was played at her funeral. Fly high, Hannah. You’re forever my satellite. ❤️

If you're not careful you're going to make me cry... Looking back I had a girlfriend of five years, And I just didn't know what I had. She did more for me than anyone could ever imagine. If it wasn't for her I wouldn't be the man I am today, And for years I have felt so bad for the way I did her. I grew up on the streets and was very detached from my feelings. She gave me three things I had never experienced or had before.. LOVE---UNDERSTANDING---AND A HOME.... I sat down a couple months back and wrote her a letter and told her exactly what I was supposed to say and exactly what she needed to hear. A few years back a friend of mine ran into her. He called me and said you wouldn't believe how bad she talks about you and that I should do something about it. I said as bad as I did her she can say anything she wants. If it helps her I'm okay with it. I really hope that letter helps her. She is such a wonderful person who didn't deserve to be treated the way I did her. To say that I am ashamed of myself is an understatement....

My mom died Nov 2018, can’t believe it’s been over a year now. I was seventeen, and now I’m an 18 year old with no clue what to do without her. I found this song and listening to it I looked over at her picture, my head tilted just so my reflection on the glass matched her face. And I smiled just like her. Maybe you will always be just a little out of reach mommy, but you’re still here, with me.

Shining like a work of art
Hanging on a wall of stars
Are you what I think you are?
    You're my satellite
    You're riding with me tonight
    Passenger side, lighting the sky
Always the first star that I find
    You're my satellite
    Elevator to the moon
    Whistling our favorite tune
Trying to get a closer view
    You're my satellite
    You're riding with me tonight
    Passenger side, lighting the sky
Always the first star that I find
    You're my satellite

I get so emotional when I hear this song. I can still imagine it so clearly. Hot summer day, playing with the chalk. Mother in the lawn chair. Thinking about everything and nothing. It was some of the happiest memories that I have. Just aimlessly doing things in the heat of the summer like that. When I found this song again I felt a physical jolt. It's something that deeply resonates with me. I will forever cherish those early summers.

We all long for those moments in our childhood where we were unconcerned with any of the worlds problems. Once you grow up it's easy to become disillusioned, but I do think it's possible to recapture that magic by doing the things that you love. Do the things that put you in the state of flow, where time flies by and several hours later you sorta wake up and realize you just spent three hours painting, singing, dancing, whatever it is that you love to do.

    • @patricklink8527
      @patricklink8527 7 หลายเดือนก่อน

I understand what you're trying to say. However, harmonies consist of in most cases of at least three voices singing together. In different pitches . An example is soprano, tenor, and baritone. You hear it a lot in bluegrass . Think Barber Shop quartet . What is being done here through the whole song is what's called doubling. A common technique in studios. The singer will sing his part, then come back and sing it again over it with no difference in pitch. Elliott Smith was a master of this. This is why he's able to sing in almost a whisper and still be well heard. It does make everybody sound like a good singer to sing over this song because of this. However, although there is harmony between the vocals and the chords produced by the guitar, there are no harmonies sung anywhere in this great song . I'm just letting you know for your edification. Now you know. Cheers, brother!

I first heard this song on a patio under the stars on a date at a restaurant. Another night with the same person, after getting high we took a cruise down a long winding road. The fall air was cool, I had to immerse in it. Silver moon, white stars on a navy sky. We raised the volume up, rolled the windows down and I pulled myself out into the fresh autumn breeze heading towards the highway. With no lights on the road all I could hear was the music and the wind blowing through my hair as I reached as far out as I could, crisp chill sending goosebumps all over. This song will always make me feel that, and while the relationship didn't last, the memory of this song sure as hell did. This one's one of my top songs ever heard, idk why it feels so good.

So the sun was our only source of light, and seeing as it was going down- it was really pretty), we turned on the speaker and just played this song. Shining like a work of art,
Hanging on a wall of stars,
Are you what I think you are?
    Youʻre my satellite,
    Youʻre riding with me tonight,
    Passenger side, lighting the sky,
Always the first star that I find,
    Youʻre my satellite
    Elevator to the moon,
    Whistling our favorite tune,
Trying to get a closer view...
    Youʻre my satellite,
    Youʻre riding with me tonight,
    Passenger side, lighting the sky,
Always the first star that I find,
    Youʻre my satellite
    Maybe you will always be,
Just a little out of reach...
    Youʻre my satellite,
    Youʻre riding with me tonight,
    Passenger side, lighting the sky,
Always the first star that I find,
    Youʻre my satellite
    Youʻre my satellite...

I listened to this song when I had it rough. And to really think it through and you actually listen to the lyrics, you understand that there is more than just the outside of people. My best friend Mia committed suicide four years ago and the thought of her brings me pain, but when I found this song I thought of her and the people I have today that keeps me up and running on staying alive. Thank you.

I was a scorned, lonely girl. I remember listening to this song under the pouring rain in Florence, pressed against a wall. Hair plastered to my face and sad eyes, I wondered when I would feel something again. I wondered if someone would make me feel like this song again. Then a new year rolled around. I found someone that would listen to all of my favourite songs. That would sing them back to me. I was finally her satellite on the passenger side, the first star she would always find.
It's been four years, today. Thank you Anna.
    I love you.
I meant to post this on our fourth anniversary. I didn't. It's been three months and as of today we're not together anymore. Still, this is for you. With love, Lu.

this songs feels like those days that stretched on for what felt like a millenia when you were a kid. that hot sticky breeze that whispers to you that summer is on her way. the sun doesn't fade as early anymore, and as a kid it's a blessing from the stars, bc after dinner you can go out and play. and then mum gets mad bc you've already showered and now your feet are dirty, but thats ok bc a quick scrub in the bath does the trick. then she tucks you into bed with the setting sun. this song is the song of our childhood.
