This was one of my best friend’s favorite song. She was one of the best people I’ve ever met and helped me become the person I am today. There’s not a day that goes by that I’m not thinking of her and the legacy she left behind. She passed away in 2015. This song was played at her funeral. Fly high, Hannah. You’re forever my satellite. ❤️
If you're not careful you're going to make me cry... Looking back I had a girlfriend of five years, And I just didn't know what I had. She did more for me than anyone could ever imagine. If it wasn't for her I wouldn't be the man I am today, And for years I have felt so bad for the way I did her. I grew up on the streets and was very detached from my feelings. She gave me three things I had never experienced or had before.. LOVE---UNDERSTANDING---AND A HOME.... I sat down a couple months back and wrote her a letter and told her exactly what I was supposed to say and exactly what she needed to hear. A few years back a friend of mine ran into her. He called me and said you wouldn't believe how bad she talks about you and that I should do something about it. I said as bad as I did her she can say anything she wants. If it helps her I'm okay with it. I really hope that letter helps her. She is such a wonderful person who didn't deserve to be treated the way I did her. To say that I am ashamed of myself is an understatement....

David Bowman the only thing you can do now is better yourself and learn from it
David Bowman I’m proud of you for realizing what you did in the past was wrong
i fell in love with a beautiful soul but she didn’t have the same feelings - i dedicated this song to her ... only way I could keep her ... in my heart
My dad used to love this song. He left us a month ago, way too early. Fly high dad
I’m sorry for your loss!
As long as we have you, we still have him. He is not gone, just in a better place.
Much love
I'm so sorry for your loss. Hugs.
This is one of those songs that plays as your body slowly projects into another dimension.
Cheese Wizard What the fuck are you talking about?
Precisely! The fourth dimension👽
Absolutely!!
@@dead_kennedys7870 He speaks nothing more than the truth.
He’s stoned.
I get so emotional when I hear this song. I can still imagine it so clearly. Hot summer day, playing with the chalk. Mother in the lawn chair. Thinking about everything and nothing. It was some of the happiest memories that I have. Just aimlessly doing things in the heat of the summer like that. When I found this song again I felt a physical jolt. It's something that deeply resonates with me. I will forever cherish those early summers.
Sounds beautiful. Blissful.
To me, it’s riding in the car anytime of the year (though preferably summer) either on the highway or a country road. On a clear night with a full moon (bright satellite.)
We all long for those moments in our childhood where we were unconcerned with any of the worlds problems. Once you grow up it's easy to become disillusioned, but I do think it's possible to recapture that magic by doing the things that you love. Do the things that put you in the state of flow, where time flies by and several hours later you sorta wake up and realize you just spent three hours painting, singing, dancing, whatever it is that you love to do.
🖤✨🖤✨
my mom remembers me loving this song as a kid, and i vividly remember it too. Imma be sad when the day comes that we cant share those memories together, and ill be alone remembering her along with this song.
It’s so heartwarming seeing all the people in the comments share their stories. Stories of heartbreak, loss, and love. It’s fascinating how one song can be a part of so many lives in different ways.
Pvo
Santa Barbara CA 2007 I would listen to this song with the window open and hear the seals and waves. The best moments. Creative geniuses.
Most beautiful analogy for a father daughter relationship. Or a mother son relationship; always makes me think of my eldest son.
Reminds me of my children too. Our little satellites that we gotta let grow up and go out on their own 💙
Reminds me of my mom. Not necessarily from the lyrics, just Guster in general. Growing up, it seemed like whenever she wasn't doing anything that demanded silence, Guster was playing in the background.
When I was deeply su!cidal, I used to play this song to myself and sing it to myself in the mirror.
5 years clean
Aw
congrats on your sobriety.
This is how a hit is done. The verse and chorus are both catchy, the vocal harmonies. Melancholic, nostalgic, and sad all wrapped up in one
Proper composition, and beautifully written and executed!
I understand what you're trying to say. However, harmonies consist of in most cases of at least three voices singing together. In different pitches . An example is soprano, tenor, and baritone. You hear it a lot in bluegrass . Think Barber Shop quartet . What is being done here through the whole song is what's called doubling. A common technique in studios. The singer will sing his part, then come back and sing it again over it with no difference in pitch. Elliott Smith was a master of this. This is why he's able to sing in almost a whisper and still be well heard. It does make everybody sound like a good singer to sing over this song because of this. However, although there is harmony between the vocals and the chords produced by the guitar, there are no harmonies sung anywhere in this great song . I'm just letting you know for your edification. Now you know. Cheers, brother!
10 years later and still feel the same way I did when I listened to it for the first time.
It’s 2022 and this song is still a banger
Amen
TRUE!
Listened to this song first the time watching a movie many years ago, maybe ten. It was part of its soundtrack. I totally forgot the movie but never forgot the song. I had to buy the album cause I wanted to know more about the band. Well, the whole album is a jem
2023, still here! :)
It's 2023 and still
My mom died Nov 2018, can’t believe it’s been over a year now. I was seventeen, and now I’m an 18 year old with no clue what to do without her. I found this song and listening to it I looked over at her picture, my head tilted just so my reflection on the glass matched her face. And I smiled just like her. Maybe you will always be just a little out of reach mommy, but you’re still here, with me.
Beautiful, she’s flying high!! ❤️🙏🏽
❤❤❤
hope you're thriving brother
Hope you are doing okay, i lost my mom at 19 a few years ago and was lost as well. It is horrible, but time heals and life goes on at some point. Keep your chin up
💔 wtf
This song is criminally underrated. Sure, it's old, but damn is it good
frr
Agree 100%.
It takes me back to a place that I’m not sure that I ever really experienced.
Typical Gen Y and Gen Z comment. To those of us who grew up in the 1970's and 1980's "old" means "from the 1960's and earlier".
I am also old. Can confirm. This song is better than I am js.
@@thexandypants - Sincerest apologies. GREAT SONG though.
Found this song years ago and I still love it
Rebelle Same here
Yessss❤ 4-5 years ago for me.
You look hot 🔥🔥🔥
*YEAH!*
Me too. $5 in the clearance bin. So glad I took a punt.
Dedicate this song to my beautiful wife. A beautiful work of art that only becomes more precious as we age together. Lovely song, and a lovely woman. Hold yours close, guys.
Yes!
Don’t you have to make a song to dedicate it?
If only.
are you chance the rapper?
How sweet!
So therapeutic. Music therapy
I first heard this song on a patio under the stars on a date at a restaurant. Another night with the same person, after getting high we took a cruise down a long winding road. The fall air was cool, I had to immerse in it. Silver moon, white stars on a navy sky. We raised the volume up, rolled the windows down and I pulled myself out into the fresh autumn breeze heading towards the highway. With no lights on the road all I could hear was the music and the wind blowing through my hair as I reached as far out as I could, crisp chill sending goosebumps all over. This song will always make me feel that, and while the relationship didn't last, the memory of this song sure as hell did. This one's one of my top songs ever heard, idk why it feels so good.
I want you.
Well go head than star child ☯️☯️☯️
DarkConcertine The gravity is hard here, that’s how a day outside should actually feel.
Wow, that's an incredible memory. Thank you for sharing.
WOW that's exactly how I would describe how I feel whenever I hear this!!!!!

I play this song in loving memory of my late husband...who left us June 4, 2013. Still makes me cry . . . (fuck cancer!)
Ellen Mackler :-( fuck cancer for sure. Sorry for your loss, at least he's not suffering anymore.
sorry for your loss. :(
Way to dump your baggage onto the table.
But seriously tho sorry for your husband.
As his last gift, he left you and your family stronger.
fucking hell you made me cry. i'm so sorry
My Sister introduced me to this song so long ago. We were much younger then and really good friends. We arent speaking now bc we have gotten into an argument that has a long history of pain/anger. I do miss her and wish we could get along. I do miss you Nan.
One of the best songs ever, period.
When I listen to this song, I think of the way things were, and the way things could have been. If the world was a merciful place.
Shining like a work of art
Hanging on a wall of stars
Are you what I think you are?
You're my satellite
You're riding with me tonight
Passenger side, lighting the sky
Always the first star that I find
You're my satellite
Elevator to the moon
Whistling our favorite tune
Trying to get a closer view
You're my satellite
You're riding with me tonight
Passenger side, lighting the sky
Always the first star that I find
You're my satellite
Maybe you will always be
Just a little out of reach
You're my satellite
You're riding with me tonight
Passenger side, lighting the sky
Always the first star that I find
You're my satellite
You're my satellite

gorgeous song with gorgeous lyrics
Hmmmm should I like this or keep it 😈 hahaha
You fucked up the lyrics already wall of scars not stars
This song is MAGIC!!!
You really can't stay in a bad mood listening to this song... Maybe a little sad but... Sad in a good way, I think :)
Nostalgic or reflective I would say
JoshuaJamesBishop This band reminds me of a xrappier version of I Monster. I especially hear Daydream in Blue or Hey Mrs.(Oh and I know Guster was around before I Monster, still they sound like they are a worse version of the later band).
btw, if you like the Gorillaz, you'll like I Monster too
Mom song
JoshuaJamesBishop You should listen to Do You Love Me? by Guster if you're talking about the impossibility of staying in a bad mood while listening to a song.
My parents used to listen to this late at night and that time I had bad anxiety about space. This song helped a lot and I am no longer anxious about space!
I listened to this song when I had it rough. And to really think it through and you actually listen to the lyrics, you understand that there is more than just the outside of people. My best friend Mia committed suicide four years ago and the thought of her brings me pain, but when I found this song I thought of her and the people I have today that keeps me up and running on staying alive. Thank you.
This is one of those songs you hear in the background over the loudspeaker while wandering around in a discount department store and spend months and YEARS trying to figure out who it is....
Thanks.
Yep
well said! my sentiments exactly! now i dont feel so weird when i have to stop in the middle of the store and staore into space while getting my mind blown away by a great song (like this)
This is the first song I have ever heard from Guster. And I'm... blown away.
What did you think about while listening ?
Dam me too
Thank you TH-cam recommendation for actually doing something good for once
Assassin Kid 26 yeah I got this in my recommendations yesterday and still listen it and can't stop (and I don't want to)
Same here, just clicked by curiosity and find a really good song
TH-cam done good for once...
Yo man the algorithm is doing its best ok stop throwing shade at it
My friends and I have a fort in the woods, as we were taking a break to chat and catch our breath (keep in mind that it was relatively dark, and the lights we found arent battery operated, which sucks. So the sun was our only source of light, and seeing as it was going down- it was really pretty), we turned on the speaker and just played this song. It was probably one of the best nights I've ever had out with my friends.
This was my first love and I's song, and it will always remind me of him. Angel, if you're reading this- I will always love you and cherish the times we spent together. You are still the most special person in the world to me. I hope you're doing well, and happiness has found you. The thought of you will always warm my heart.
Love always, your bunny
My 4 year old asked me to play it... and replay it. How about that for the 1st time hearing it. And he knows the words! 😮❤❤ better then twinkle, twinkle little star.
Found this song working at practically EVERY retail store.... Late night Home Depot, Lowes, JcPenny etc. Etc.. While you were sleeping, this song was playing, while I was awake working late, thinking about you... Thought I'd let you know.. Missed you while at work. To whoever it applied to now days ❤❤❤

I discovered this song while in Wal-Mart
@Megan Trimble Nice, I love discovering good music by accident
I’ve often heard this song in stores like Walgreen’s that stay open late or 24hrs. I think people get that it’s a late-night song.
Same!
I found it by myself
One of my favorite songs. Guster is amazing.
After a recent breakup the "Maybe you will always be, just little out of reach" hits hard
Man I wish I knew how to the tone the guitarist has in this song, it's so lush the delays and reverbs are so perfect
I never get tired of this song...I hope that won't fade.
This song brings me back to simpler times, god do I miss music like this...
So glad people are still listening to this in 2021.
I have no idea why this song was in my suggestion, I haven't listened to this song for more than a decade but I'm happy I got to listen to this again.
Yes❤
Thanks Drew for showing me this and thank you Guster for making such amazing music
@garbage person drew is soooo cool for the win
Ganging Up On The Sun is one of the two best albums of the decade. Satellite is one of many gems contained within.

Sigh...this song brings back happier times for me. I wish I could go back to this era.
Heard this song on the radio, and used soundhound to look it up. It makes me feel so melancholy and wistful for something I can't identify- but it a good way. In a way that reminds me how beautiful the world is and how feelings, good and bad, are so central to what it means to be human.
Geez, I just have a happy feelings for this song. Then I read the comments . I recall driving always to my uncles aunt place every Sunday cause I like to see their pets and it’s my grandparents house. And it’s peaceful in there. And I’m a amateur astronomer, who likes taking photos of them way back. So anything with titles like this are always a great song. I noticed. Not all, but mostly

Just found this song last week. So made I didn’t know about this song sooner.
This comment section is filled with so many beautiful stories. This song is definitely pretty magical. I came over here cause drew monson suggested the band. I’m glad he did this will be a great band for me too close my eyes and drift off with.
Low Key here because my ARCE teacher was playing this before a morning lecture. I love how random happenstance can lead to the discovery of awesome stuff like this song!
My sister dedicated this to me ten years ago....she passed away yesterday. I love you Aida.
I’m so sorry for your loss.

Man, mid/late 2000's alt-rock is so good! Case and point with this song!
Three days grace? ;)
Colin Farnsworth I thought this was too light to be alt-rock lol. Nonetheless still absolutely amazing.
My first job ever was working at a kroger in a pretty rough part of my town. This song would come on the radio there from time to time. I'd never heard it till I started working there. Pretty good song.

It was like 2016-2017 …. Jaw dropped… chillls….. just in awe at 3 am in the morning and proceeded to show everyone
