      That's a great question! Unfortunately, I don't know of a workable solution to restrict editing on only part of a page. You may need to contact Adobe directly to find an answer. Best of luck!

    Is there a way to only protect a portion of a document? for example, on documents where is says "for office use only" ??

    • @erinwrightwriting
      @erinwrightwriting  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      That is an interesting question. I don't believe there is a way to apply Acrobat's editing restrictions to part of a document. However, you could try separating the "for office use only" information into a separate, restricted PDF and then linking to that PDF from the unrestricted PDF. Best of luck!

    Hello Erin
    Thank you for your good videos.
    I have a question that I wanted to ask you. My question is that does Acrobat pro dc 2018 or any newer version has better OCR performance than 2017 which is my version or there isn't any much difference.
    Because I wanted to do OCR in a large pdf document but many of the words weren't correctly recognized so I thought that newer versions may have much more smarter OCRs to do my task.
    Thanks

    • @erinwrightwriting
      @erinwrightwriting  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Thank you for watching! That is an excellent question. Unfortunately, I don't have a working copy of 2017 to test against my current version, which is Pro DC, so I can't provide any qualified advice on OCR. I encourage you to contact Adobe Support because they may be able to offer some specifics. Best of luck!

    Is there a way to restrict all fields except the signature? We have a form where a manager is going to fill out the fields, send it to the user to sign and return, but we don't want the person signing to be able to edit the fields the manager filled out. Is there a way to restrict only certain fields?

    • @erinwrightwriting
      @erinwrightwriting  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Thank you for watching! Before sending the form to the recipient, you can set individual fields to "Read Only" by right-clicking the field, selecting Properties, and then checking Read Only in the General tab of the Text Field Properties dialog box. Best of luck!

    Your videos are great, thank you. I have adobe pro dc. Some pdf files I cannot access the text box to edit or extract text. What could be the reason and/or possible solution? Thanks again.

    • @erinwrightwriting
      @erinwrightwriting  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Thank you for watching! I can't be sure what is causing the issue with those text boxes. However, they could be images rather than text boxes. Or, perhaps they are form fields rather than regular text boxes. If that could be the case, you could try reaching them by using the Prepare Form toolbar rather than the Edit PDF toolbar. I wish you all the best with that frustrating issue!

    • @erinwrightwriting
      @erinwrightwriting  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Thank you so much for watching! I'm not aware of a way to limit a PDF to only print a limited number of times and then not allow additional printing. It's a good idea, though!

    Do you have a tutorial on how to lock multiple comments at one time? I have a document with 60 comments I have made. Rather than open the property box of each comment, check the "lock" box, and click ok for each comment, is there a way to lock all comments at one time? Thanks!

    • @erinwrightwriting
      @erinwrightwriting  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hello, thank you for watching my tutorial. I haven't created one on locking all the comments yet; however, you can do so by (1) selecting the first comment in the comment pane, (2) holding the Shift key while selecting the last comment in order to select all of them, (3) right-clicking one of the comments and then selecting Properties from the shortcut menu, (4) selectin the General tab in the Sticky Note Properties dialog box, (5) selecting Locked, and (6) selecting OK. Best of luck!

    How do I convert the pdf to read-only without a password? I'm sending the document to a business and they are requiring that I upload the document in pdf but it must be read-only. Please help if you can. Thank you!

    • @erinwrightwriting
      @erinwrightwriting  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Thank you for watching my video. As far as I know, Adobe Acrobat doesn't offer a way to create a read-only PDF without a password. However, if the business doesn't want to change your PDF, then they will still be able to read it without ever needing your password. Here is some info directly from Adobe: helpx.adobe.com/acrobat/using/securing-pdfs-passwords.html. Best of luck!

    • @erinwrightwriting
      @erinwrightwriting  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@elinbarrage9638 Great, I'm glad it wasn't a problem. To answer your question: I'm not a security expert, but I personally wouldn't use Acrobat's restrictions to protect against any third-party scripts, etc. The restrictions in Acrobat are more for general "in office" use, such as preventing coworkers from altering your PDF.
