I am a Russian, yet I am truly fascinated and awed by the achievements of the Great Prussia as well as the Russian ones. It is sad that Prussia and Russia weren't always allies.
This old traditional military signal by the drummers and fifers called "Parademarsch der Spielleute" and and are used to bring the soldiers and musicans in march lockstep or move the participants to parade formation. After this follow a short announcing of the military band 00:43 "Lockmarsch".
Prussia is not just a country. it is a filosophy, a way of life and a culture which isnt destroyable
in any prussian video you will see thousands of messages from former prussians.

The tune has no official author, and Britain was merely the first to adopt the tune as the anthem (though it had been around for a while before then).

Well since you are German or should I say Prussian I think you know your country's history better than I. I am a Dutchman and well since we are kind of neighbours, and our royal family is somewhat connected to the german one, I have a lot of sympathy for Prussia and Imperial Germany.
As a matter of fact... I would love to see all the monarchy's in Europe restored in their former glory.
I am a Russian yet I am fascinated by the Prussian glory and achievements as well as the Russian ones!

the old prussian anthem had the same music as the british, it is called "Heil dir im Siegerkranz", look it up ;-)
the music was also used in several other national anthems. mostly small ones like the old russian anthem from 1816-1833 :)
all this old prussian songs always get to me. wish the old vaterland still existed...

well Dutchmen are Frisians, that is one of the germanic tribes so there is a brotherly link.
I wish monarchy came back. the greatest man who ever lived in Germany was Bismarck, but a man like bismarck could not have done the things he did in a government like the one today.
I think monarchy is a one chance thing. unfortunately all of Europe got rid of something which is extremely hard to recover

Anyway of seeing this documentary in full? I love Prussian history and Friedrich Die Groesse in particular. Also, totally agree on the Koenigsburg thing. I can't wait until I see the day when Prussia rises up and becomes great again, free from the shackles of socialism and federalist tyranny. Believe me, the British will be right behind you, just like in the days of Hohenfriedberg!

@pzb1937 It was originally a Swiss song I believe. Prussia adopted it and later the British as their national anthem. It was a very popular piece.
Well, it should be deficult to get this outside of Germany, but possible. The name of the documentary is "Die Deutschen", it's a series by the german sender ZDF, perhaps you can find it on Amazon or something like that ... it covers other parts of german history as well, like Bismarck, the Napoleonic Wars and World War One.

Composer Joseph Golde combines the melodies from "Heil dir im Siegerkranz" and "Ich bin ein Preuße". "Heil dir im Siegerkranz" based on the same melody as the British anthem. Sorry, in the moment a DVD box only in German language and PAL available.
Agreed with Blind....my family came to America after the French-Prussian war....then again my g3 grandmother was from alsace-lorraine....my g3 grandfather was a prussian general.....then ran away to America.

Indeed. But things will change. Constitutional monarchy is a fine thing so long as the monarch retains their natural constitutional position.
It's interesting, actually, that Britain's first constitutional monarch was William III of Orange. The Dutch and the British are neighbours and natural allies. Our countries can support each other, as can our Monarchies. We are both blessed with Queens, let their power and honour be returned.
@59Skott there is not much left of the old city as you say and they have built an enormous Russian Orthodox cathedral in typical Russian design i have seen on tv.Also i think it will be one of the WC venues in 2018.A good time to change the name for that but i can`t see the Russians wanting to lose a port on the Baltic Sea particularly with Putin back in charge,he is very belligerent and an old style Soviet in many ways.He wont want to lose a centimetre of land .

From 1:02 on this Preußenmarsch is identic with the British Anthem "God save the Queen" (see here on TH-cam). What?
Ab 1:02 ist dieser Preußenmarsch identisch mit der Britischen Hymne "God save the Queen"! Bin ich der einzige, der das merkt? Stammt die Britische Hymne von einem Preußenmarsch ab, oder umgekehrt? Das Hause Windsor stammt ja aus deutschen Landen ab, worüber wir aber nicht stolz sein sollten, hat doch dieses blaublütige Pack viel Unglück über die Welt gebracht (und tut es heute noch). Bitte um Antwort bzgl. der Hymne.

ist art, that most alle koments on this topik are always type in angry or with mad thinking. This TH-cam thing is good for share and is a nice think so should keep this way. Listen to musik and have a chat and a drink and in this time we not live it like was creation a long time ago when it wast going on. I used this tune in a theatre once preceding it with a drum roll as usual for "The Queen", the audience all stood, then dithered until they recognized the tune, remained standing for one verse and then sat down in a babble of chat. Great start for a Ray Cooney Comedy.
well the 3 line flag isnt ugly, it was the burschenschaften flag and that is part of the prussian heritage.
I wouldnt mind another german state governing. what irritates me is that prussia bleeded for the brother german states many times in the past. the one time prussia needs them to take their side they prefer buisness over brotherhood. to me thats the worst betrayal. "Brüderlich mit herz und hand" I remember that in the anthem but I dont see it in the German concience nowadays

@59Skott ,i can`t see the German government wanting land back that`s stuck out on a limb ,surrounded by Poland and Belarus,it would just be an oddity ,saying that it is now that to the Russians.The German government in `90 had a chance to address it`s borders with Poland primarily when the 2 countries made that treaty to leave the borders as decided at Yalta.Ican`t see that changing,Germany now is fixed for a very long time at it`s present borders,i think i would have asked for Stettin though.

Forgive my ignorance, but this song must predate "God Save the Queen" as it has the same melody?. My guess is God Save the Queen is probably this Prussian piece of orchestra adopted into a national anthem?

The origin of monarchy is very mysterious. their authority seems divine. I actually do think they had a divine commandment. their origin was so mysterious but their authority so great, noone could deny their leadership. the problem now is that if monarchy was restored people would see it like tyranism.
unfortunately we kind of rely on democracy to bring monarchy back. I think that if through democratic means monarchy could be brought back. then it could remove that flawed liberal system

The monarch reins with the consent of the nation and the nation exists at the consent of the monarch. Any attempt, however, to limit or to contain or to rationalise monarchy should be seen for what it is; treachery.
Democracy, being selfless, supports monarchy but liberalism, being selfish, opposes it.

@CaptainTray Our once respectful and descent Governments have been twisted and warped by the hands of those who wished for money, who indulge in greed and answer to only themselves, men and women who wouldn't know a crown if it hit them in the face, Europe is in the biggest mess for a long, long time and we are not truly united, because many of us lack a King or a Queen, a Emperor or Empress, a Kaiser, Kaiserin, Tsar or Tsarina to rally behind, many of us losing our national identitys and pride.

I´m very sorry for what happened to your grandfather, my greatgrandfather died also in that war. But it is never ok to punish or kill the normal people, never! Only the government can be punished and their helpers. So in my eyes, the russian army and gov, was not better than the Nazis, because they did exactly the same, so how could we ever respect them?
Of course I´m extremely sorry for what happened to the normal russian people, they are good people! But Stalin was a criminal.

In his defense, Hitler and his army did invade Russia, and they did kill millions of Russian men, women and children. The small piece of land Russia still holds from that war is a form of retribution the Russian people have from the German people for the war. It may have all been Hitler's fault, but a price must still be paid. And no, the control of Berlin and the Berlin wall was not enough if you ask me. I lost my grandfather, 2 grand uncles, and a great-grandfather to Hitler's army.
