    I'm sure my 308 never had any insulation aside from simple heat shields around the exhaust. The rear trunk was all just single ali skin plus underlay and carpet. But it did cook anything in the trunk! Those steel bracing struts were clearly visible behind the engine. It also didn't have the rusty bits you had to get rid off, but it looks like they were just covering the federalised bumper mounts. No wonder US cars were so heavy!

    When you do get around to painting it, I hope you find a nice metallic or pearl yellow, like Ford's Tangerine Scream from the Focus ST. I think it's probably the closest to the slightly goldenrod tone of the stock yellow paint on the Ferrari while still adding the pearl shift that makes body lines more striking. There are tons of lovely OEM and custom yellows to choose from. Lotus and Porsche have some great ones, as do Ferrari and Lamborghini. I'm just more familiar with the Focus ST since it's more common in my area.

    • @stanceworks
      @stanceworks  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      I wish I had the means to get it dipped or blasted, but doing that, and doing a proper job after, adds probably $10-15k in cost and a LOT of time I don't have. That's the right way to do it, but it's not the way I'll be doing it this time around. I'll be painting what I grind down myself with wrinkle black to match the factory Ferrari chassis work.

    I really dont think thats rockwool to be honest. RockWool is a brand of insulation that makes insulation out of mineral wool (melted diabase and coke)
    Rockwool isnt white, its more of a green/yellow color and its not that fine. Could be glass wool but who knows. You should get it checked to be 100% sure, the gloves are almost enough if its glass wool but you should were some protective gear for your lungs and eyes sake.
