@@bigbry4654 I’m going to try this year. It’s tough because it means I have to essentially plan/shoot/edit a video in one day. Might do a low edit one this year if I can.
I was unfortunately camping in Lake Tahoe during a storm, I had the 6 person tent from Costco and it worked beautifully... no leaks, and it rained all night, cozy and warm as well... great purchase 👍
My bear spray has a cylinder with 6 44 magnum projectiles... like you said. Maybe a 10mm or something. I couldn't agree more. They work when the wind is blowing any direction
@OXFOOT It's far from more effective. You shoot a bear with 44mag. It's gonna stop or turn away. Bears will charge through spray and continue their onslaught. If it's windy, forget about it. Just blows away. From my experience, you don't get to square up with the bear beforehand. I've been in that situation, it's quick. They're fast and silent, and it's very frightening. Bear spray is effective, though. But think about this. You're in your camper or a tent when that bear breaks in. You pop off that bear spray, and you're eating it too. So now you can't see what the hell is going on, and that bear may not even be affected.
I use the Pendleton blanket as a base in my tent and the Alptrek blanket as an additional layer on top of our sleeping bag and works great for keeping us warm.
Last winter, the hammocks went on clearance for $5! The 10 Person tent works perfect when all 6 of us camp! It's huge, but we all fit with gear and a Mr. Heater. The light it nice, and I felt it was gimmicky at first.
Really great information although I would not recommend the Energizer power bank. It is WAYYYYYY overpriced. If you're in the market for a solar power station, high end look at Bluetti or Eco Flow or budget, (and my fav) Pecron. You'll get so much more for a LOT less. This is one of the few times where Costco is selling a product that is ripping off their clients. Very "un-Costco" like... Anyways, thanks for pointing out the other options for overlanding/camping!!
Yeah I think they used to work with Ecoflow. Wish they still did. The cost per watt hour in the energizer isn’t great. It’ll do but there’s way better options out there.
But the whole idea behind this video was getting what you can or need from Costco or another big box store. Costco is not the best deal anymore. Not like they were in the past anyway.
The GRIZZLY & WOLF DISCOVERY CENTER in West Yellowstone tests coolers with their Grizzly bears, they have a whole display of coolers that passed and failed.
Fair warning with that Type S jumpstarter, kept one in my car for a couple years, topped off the charge every month, but after about a year it just stopped holding a charge in general. Replaced that with a Noco.
Great video! I'm fully set, but if have a friend who's just getting started with gathering gear and sent this video over to her so she can see that there's affordable items out there and doesn't get overwhelmed with my suggestions.
Don't Forget Costco sells Interstate Car Batteries with a 36 month Warranty and they also carry BF Goodrich Ko2 tires that they can order at any size available.
I have 3 of those rio chairs and they are a big hit with the rest if my family. But it takes up a lot of packing space and adds a lot of weight to my suv. Buying all this gear you are going to realize how much room you dont have when packing your vehicle with this stuff Now im very mindful if what I buy for camping. And I have the whole Yakima rear system and a yakima roof cargo box and I'm still stressed fir room . By next year I'll probably have all new camping gear that packs small. Its pretty much a do over for me.
Love this video and I’m also in Denver but don’t see any of this stuff at a couple Costco’s I’ve been to. Mind sharing what time of year you found all of this?
I buy the ThermoFask for my employees that work outside. All of them love them, some even ask where I get them so they can buy them for their girlfriends/hubs. Since they are so cheap I get another pair for them.
The only jump starter I use and recommend is the NOCO brand units. Either the GB40 or GB70. Costco doesn't sell them (shame they dont) but def worth it. Also works as a power bank. what parts of CO are you at?
Costco rotates through their stock fairly regularly. And what's available in each club varies. Unfortunately, the freeze dried meals shown here aren't available anymore. There's something similar, but it's an 8-pack for $85. Or there's a 24-count pack of Asian inspired meals (chicken fried rice, pad thai with chicken, chicken teriyaki with rice, and yellow curry w/ chicken & rice) and that's $180 Or you can order 6 cans of freeze dried food (14 servings per can) but you don't get a variety pack. Prices vary based on what meal, from $150-250 This is what I found online, I didn't go look at what my own club had.
Just a heads up I have the dewalt jump starter in the vid I hate it. Definitely prefer something stronger and more reliable to hold its battery but others may have a better experience with it
@@OXFOOT Thanks, that is the one I think I'll get, in a dream world, one as tall as my tailgate would be it ha ha ha but, the tailgate is 36 off the ground...
I’ll have to look back but I think it was either the full rain suit (which I have) or it was some waders. If it was the rain suit I probably should have included it.
Just going off of their claims. From their website: “LifeStraw Membrane Ultrafilters are capable of removing 99.999% (log 5) of viruses (including Rotavirus), 99.999999% (log 8) of bacteria.”
They could get in the van but it’s unlikely they would try for that. Pack up your food at night and put it in bear resistant packaging and all that. I’m not the expert so I’d see if you can’t find more info online from a bear expert if you are worried about them. I’ve never really had a run in but I always bring some sort of protection and take every precaution I can.
Your costco has better camping stuff. We dont get the mountain house variety pack. I have certainly never seen any camp stoves. 🤨 We are in the middle of the CA valley but there should still be outdoorsy things because were close to the mountain. Its not that far.... 😢 lol. Ill keep looking.... my guess of why we dont get the same things: a lot of local companies will stock their local costcos. Our costco always gets Sierra Nevada brews that the rest of the country doesnt get because the brewery is right in front of the costco here in Chico. If youre in colorado, there are a ton of outdoor companies. And the state is known for its outdoor enthusiasts.
The Chico Costco gets a lot of camping related things in, but the good stuff doesn’t usually last long. I’m pretty sure I saw most everything on this video there earlier on in the summer (June). I don’t know about the Mountain House Meals though.
I spelt in the for years but you are not wrong. The second I hit 30 I couldn’t do it anymore. The hammocks I bring now are for lounging. Although I will occasionally fall asleep napping at the hammock in my back yard at home ha.
I know you're just making a video and going over the items available at Costco...but anyone curious about that type S jump back... Avoid it like the plague 😂
Gee this would have been a good video 6 months ago seeing as Costco in the northern states has winter shit out now. My biggest pet peeve of that store. 90 degrees outside and I’m looking at snowshoes. Someone change thus bs please..!!!
Huh? I have an entire shipping container full of camping gear I’ve used since I was a kid. You’re saying stuff just to make yourself feel better I guess?
Please don't buy the Energizer power station. The number one reason why they say at the warehouse for 2 solid years was the price. You can do so much better with Ecoflow, Bluetti, Segway, Anker, and Jackery. This uses an outdated NMC battery, a very noisy fan, slow solar charging, and no Bluetooth. They finally lowered the price from 1400 to 499.00 during the Memorial day weekend. They finally sold out. Pure Junk!
Good video but the problem with shopping at Costco is how quickly they turn their shelves over. Unless something sells really, really well, it just won't be on the shelves very long.
What Store do you want to see next?
SEARS
Hobby Lobby 😂
Jax Outdoor
Sierra Trading Post. I know it’s an outlet store but the rewards are worth the effort.

8:03 that cooler is only Grizzly proof when it has a lock on it, the rubber handles wouldn't protect against a Grizzly.
Good stuff here, pretty cool all the stuff available.
Yeah, I was surprised. Got a few other stores to tackle but there’s a ton of stuff out there at retail.
Great vid dude def seen some of these and havent seen some so gonna look into them!! 🎉

I buy the ThermoFask for my employees that work outside. All of them love them, some even ask where I get them so they can buy them for their girlfriends/hubs. Since they are so cheap I get another pair for them.
Yeah they seem like a really great deal and do pretty much what every high end, more expensive water container does.
I really like the tripod light. But unfortunately, EVERY Costco near me and there are several, none of them had the tripod lights...
Aint no one going backpacking with a 3.6 pound chair 🤣
The only jump starter I use and recommend is the NOCO brand units. Either the GB40 or GB70. Costco doesn't sell them (shame they dont) but def worth it. Also works as a power bank. what parts of CO are you at?
Yeah they NOCO stuff is great from what I’ve seen.
dang! literally I was looking at most of these stuff lastweek at costco! I ended up getting nothing haha! groceries for the fam first=)
Yeah I need to get some of those stuff before the season ends and they start replacing it with Halloween stuff.

I might be making a run here today lol.

That’s funny because the other one they carry Simone said the same thing. Maybe Costco just isn’t the place to get jump boxes lol.
My AC outlets on mine broke after using a rice cooker at the beach . Returned
