- I made a compilation of clips from this previous year entirely with GoPros to share my experience as a Naval SAR Aircrewman. Clips are mostly from my last deployment in Bahrain with HSC-26 DET 1 Desert Hawks.

Night Jumps Aren't allowed, only direct deployment (being lowered on the hoist while staying connected the whole time). The coastguard may even function the same too. It's a lot less exciting in practice, not like the guardian. The chances of even getting one save in an entire career are pretty slim too actually. Hooyah aircrew.

SAR looks pretty awesome. Just started talking to a recruiter and will probably go to meps in a few months, is search and rescue a specific rate or is it assigned through the aircrewman rate?
To go SAR you have to get a AIRR (air rescue) contract a.k.a. navy rescue swimmer contract before joining. Talk to your recruiter about it and he/she should point you in the right direction.

+TheHazeonator You can be a wet or dry aircrewmen. Wet are the rescue swimmers that are on the 60s, dry are the ones that are on either fixed wings or helos. The only dry job that you can get where your on helos is AWS and youll be on the mh53 not the 60s

HSC is sea combat squadron. usually consisting of AWS/AWR. they both have relatively the same tasks, romeos just hunt subs

Could you get into this stuff if you enlisted with the aircrew program. Some places say to do helos you HAVE to do AIRR but under the aircrew program AWS/AWR is listed. IDK someone help.
If you wan't to be a rescue swimmer ask for an airr contract. It's the only way you're getting either of those 2 designations.

Diver or any spec war is tough. I’m trying to earn my EOD contract at the moment. When I swore in I chose AIRC, you are required to pick a backup when going through the warrior challenge program. when picking my backup I asked for a job that would be one of the most physically demanding. Both are great!

I took a AN(PACT) contract yesterday and was wondering if anyone had experience with that contract or knew anyone that did and made there way to air crewman. I wanted air crewman out of the gate but there were none available!

By no means am I a recruiter but according to online sources, it says this...
-Uncorrected vision no worse than 20/100; correctable to 20/20 in both eyes with normal depth and color perception.

Hay I really want to be a rescue swimmer but I have a hard time gaining weight and muscle and my max pash ups is like 34 my mile is 5:37 and my sit ups I have no problem with but I am afraid I will not get pasted the airr school because of my push ups should I go in as a dry aw and hope for the best to get a helicopter?

AWR - Aircrewman Romeo, AWS - Aircrewman Sierra. You can google what each rating specifically does. Generally, Sierra's are considered more "badass" with what they do.

Have a good- medium pt test then they teach you the rest but you have to be good at swimming or train in swimming

How do one become a Naval SAR Air Crewman? What does my ASVAB scores have to be? Whats the training like? Whats the qualifications?
iDealNinja my asvab score was 82% and i qualified and signed a contract for this job yesterday. i think you have to have a pretty outstanding score to qualify.

@@patriotsatny Yes Im in Nas Pensacola Aircrew its a lot different from the civilian life. Ive made lots of great friends but a lot of running and swimming training, being well disiplined and we have lots of fun things to do on base!

@@patriotsatny When you graduate you will be given a rate, AWF AWS AWO AWR etc. If youre Air Rescue (which requires more swim training and more schooling) you will most likely see ships time to time. Basic Aircrewman like myself may end up working with planes and if im lucky helios and we most likely never see a ship.

No thats just the recruiter trying to get you in, I have alot of friends that get screwed over that way. Im in Aircrew right now, the way you get a rescue swimmer contract is you tell your recruiter that you want to do rescue swimmer, they will set you up for a pst, once you complete it they can tell you when they have a contract open for you then you go to meps and sign your rescue swimmer contract and swear in.
