i have had the distinct pleasure of meeting and speaking at length with Richard 'Dick' Marcinko, the founding leader of Special Development Group aka Seal Team 6 back in 1981. they named it Seal Team 6 because we wanted the Russkies to think.we had 6 teams of seals instead of just 1. fyi, Dick has written several books. Crazy shit like parachuting into the Soviet Union and being told to sneak onto a ship in a North Korean harbor to only search for Pakistani plans for nuclear bomb trigger components and photograph them. Instead, he found crates of the actual nuclear triggers. Dick had a big decision to make immediately. Take pics and leave the region at immediate nuclear threat from NK OR destroy them. He did what he should have; he sank the fucking ship!! His reward for doing this was to be imprisoned here in the US on trumped up charges. Kudos to Dick; if not for him, NK would have had the atomic bomb 20+ more yrs earlier and perhaps h-bombs by now. he deserves the CMoH. Thank u Dick! While we were talking he was drinking Doc Bombay Sapphire gin which is the same glowing neon blue color as Romulan ale on Star Trek. i am a big guy; 6.1 and a solid 225 lbs. But Dick is a huge bear of a man. as we were ending our conversation and stood up, Dick suddenly says, 'How about a porno?' he then grabbed my shoulder and spun me around like i was a 4 yr old and a flash went off. he autographed and wrote some nice stuff on the photo. it is one of my proudest possessions. fyi, when the Seals went after Bin Laden they did not take young ones with them; it was almost all guys in their 30s and 40s with the best decision making process and the most experience and training. the Seals are the best and the suspicious plane crash that killed about 30 of them was a strategic loss for the US; comparable to losing an aircraft carrier. a stupid decision was made by someone - it was like putting all the physicists in the world on the same plane. the suspicious part is that at the last moment 2 Afghanis they knew were replaced by 2 that they knew nothing about. it might be more sinister and done to eliminate a lot of those Seals that did the Bin Laden raid. All that i do know is that many incredible men with all that experience and superhuman dedication and ability is impossible to replace. RIP
