The giant statues were added as decorations for community lots, mostly for Bon Voyage and Open for Business. Huge Bill is for the Three Lakes for example, I think Ninja was for Takemizu Village, but I don't remember seeing it there personally. I know the knight and gorilla were used as decorations outside a toy store in Bluewater Village. As for why they're in the residential lot buy mode is most likely because we can open home businesses, so they wanted the players to have access to them everywhere.
That makes a ton of sense actually! I was reading one other comment that mentioned how they used them for their home businesses. If people are playing with home businesses, I could totally see how they're used more often!
Hey atleast they animated the sims going to the elevator vs Sims 3 & 4
For real? Why would they not animate it in Sims 3 and 4? Sims 2 really was one of the best in the series!

@@Dianafreaken In Sims 3, they just teleport into places. They dont even open car doors. And we forgave it all because it was an "open world". And then they brought back all the lazyness from the sims 3 to sims 4, but without the open world. Its really our fault for forgiving sims3 too much. Sims4 was the consequence of it
@@iamnotjack.whydidichange They only teleport into the cars. I have played Sims 3 for years. But I don’t have all expansions, so I can’t say if it 100% true. But I know 100% the go into the elevators.
And I don’t think Sims 3 is lazy. But Sims 4 is waaay to lazy, and I’m happy I never have used money on it.
The crazy thing about elevators in TS2 is that they don’t exist in any maxi’s pre made lot, they didn’t bother to put them anywhere, you had to discover how it works and they are extremely detailed

The basketball hoop comes with a no floor recolor, probably especially for this uhhhh RUG! 😆
And there's no way my Sims would ever let me forget about the ballet barre (aka the stick). With high music & dance enthusiasm they always want to buy it, and then all the neighbors are obsessed with it...
BUT I didn't know you could stack the snowman in so many different ways 😂😂 I wonder if it still moves after that...

That snowman thing you mention...I am really curious now...Would it move as a giant tower like that? I'm going to test it out now that the video is done haha. Like I mention in the video, it doesn't let you stack it that high on it's own. You have to take random parts and organize them in random orders for it to work. That's why I think their coding must have been a little janky on the snowman.

Yeah, if you have a ballet barre at home and you're wondering where the Sim brought from work went... that's the spot.
A lot of the coding in TS2 is janky... so I wouldn't be surprised 😆 But I'd guess the snowman only has the animation option if it's set up the "right" way, as the parts don't move separately.

But they could build "organic" snowmen from the ground snow in the Seasons pack.

I use those big statues for my cheesy, kitschy businesses. I put the giant knight on the roof of my Royal Used Auto Sales for instance. Huuuuuge Bill would be good for a breakfast place that specializes in pancakes. Giant chicken for a fried chicken joint.
There is something that happens when you have a snowman built with the kit and the musical dancing snowman next to each other . I saw a video that showed it but I think maybe the buildable snowman dances to the musical snowman's tunes?
Sims can woohoo in the sauna and elevator.
That purpose actually makes a lot of sense for the big statues!! It's honestly the only way their usage makes sense to me. Sims can woohoo in the sauna?! Jeesh, Sims 2 Sims are freaks! 😆 Someone mentioned to me the elevator, I couldn't believe it!
I had the most amazing flapjack eatery with a great big Huge Bill to welcome everyone in.

The Pancake woodcutter... ahem... The last Sims 3 Legacy challenge I started, I got the statue as my Founder's wedding gift. It was so random, I had to put it in the yard. 5 generations and 3 houses later, I cannot imagine being without him.
Haha! Now that is a very interesting wedding gift! 😅 I can imagine when having him there for several generations, he becomes a part of the family!
I knew about all these items but I never used the ant farm so this was my first time seeing that ant animation.
most of these arrived with the bon voyage expansion so you could make you own vacation lots rather than using the default ones
That's pretty cool!! Thanks for sharing that. I didn't know most were from Bon Voyage, I guess that's why they're "forgotten" in my eyes is because most would be used on vacation lots instead of residential (in most cases)

I have never seen those statues in my life, I barely believe they're even in the game! That was a surprise.
As to everything else, I'm sorry but I did know all of these already. I even know some sims can shake the ants (grouchy ones if I remember correctly), you can place a top hat on the snowmen, the ballet bar has modded versions for different dances and using the elevator is slower than the stairs. Also, I have had a made up ball for my teen sims using those basketball court rugs to pretend it's in a gym like in those american movies and, in my games, different sims had different weird hobby spots in their houses which include that log rolling thing, the sauna, the ice rinks, the axe throwing - I am that kind of person...
That's ok that you knew the rest of the items!! I'm just glad I got ya on the statues one haha. They're so massive but so easy to overlook! That's cool that you do all that outdoor stuff in your games. After doing this video, I want to use those items more!
i feel like the snowman was one i used a lot just because of the different interesting pieces. out of all of the ones shown though, i like the sauna the most! also guessed the rug correctly. nice touch with showing the lots from different challenges!

This is like a giant nostalgia bomb! Don’t know which I played more Sims 1 or Sims 2. I knew most of these but the giant sculptures surprised me
Sims 1 and 2 are close for me, Sims 2 has more hours logged when I was younger. The giant statues is something I totally forgot about. Digging through old items like this you find some crazy stuff.
I knew about the snowman kit existing but not that you could do all that with it. And I totally forgot about the basketball court rug.
Who knew there was a build a ... Evil tall snowman part of Sims 2??? 🤯 I remember at least 4 of those. One was a favorite woohoo spot of my Sims. So that definitely burned it into my brain. 😂

The only one I didn't know was being able to swap the snowman pieces. Never really played with them.

also i think i vaguely remember the majority of them except for the ant farm, rolling pit and rug!!! the ballet barre and fire pit are the most faint to me

Honestly I'd say there's something even more forgettable than those giant statues - hot air Halloween decors that came with Holidays stuff pack. Black cat, aliens in a cauldron... um... I'm sure there's some more of those, but I forgot what are they xD

The snowman one is so interesting because it doesn't stack in a logical sense. Random combos allow it to get as tall as a house haha.
I think the snowmen “dance” if you play the Xmas music snowman player near them.
The statues in the beginning are from Open for Business addon, there are corresponding Create a Sim items for sims too.

The placing of the ant farm seems a bit odd at first. But it has to do with the hobbies, specifically the science hobby. Knowing that, the placing makes more sense 😊
If you think of it as a scientific hobby, I guess it makes sense! Have the sims observe the ants for scientific purposes! Thank you for sharing your thoughts! :)

Me a person who has never played the sims 2: WOAH I CANT BELIEVE I FORGOT ABOUT THE ANT FARM!!!
I mean... it's not "so specific". Its kinda logical to have floor and no roof to have an elevator. Also it can go up all 4 floors, but that house was on a foundation and sims2 counts that as a level. You can just use it instead of stairs in a building. If you overuse it, it breaks and then it has to be fixed. Also even if you don't use these items regularly, I apprecciate it being there and not having to go into debug like in sims4. Btw the huge statues were either for businesses and came with Open for Business, or from the vacation expansion, like the huge bill and I remember him being in one of the lots. ALSO the ant farm is in that place because Im pretty sure it came in Hobbies and one of the hobbies is Nature and the ant farm helps you improve that, so it is useful
Sims 2 is the one i play the most, for sure. i probably have thousands of total lifetime hours in 1 and 2, at least 200 in 3, and then like less than 20 hours in 4 lol

Around 2:54 If it only accepts certain combinations, then it means it was intentional for the snowman to be able to be build in certain ways
Also i didn't know Bill or the basketball court. Ironically im more familiar with the Sims 2 items.
Among those items, the only one I knew about was the elevator, which came with Open for Business.
Many times I tried to install it in the Goth mansion, but it seems the building was just made so it would feel awkward and disfunctional. 😅
By the way, if you just click on some item on a different floor, the sim will automatically use the elevator to go there.
That's good to know about the different floor! I suppose that does make it a little easier to send them upstairs at least. I still think it'd be nice to have a "go upstairs" option, but what you said definitely makes it more worth using! The elevators are quite janky to build with.
I'm glad the 8 other items were forgotten about for you! I try to come up with unique choices that most people wouldn't remember.

90% of these were items i used in pretty much every house XD
Some people used these items a lot and others were shocked by the items like me haha!
I knew none of the items. But I actually chose the right rug. Like I actually called it. I said “it’s the basket ball court thingy”.

Not going to leave a dislike, but I did know about all these items, as I have used them all. Some aspects that you might not know about some of them:
a) The Ant Farm: the reason it is in the hobby section, is for those enthused with science. You can actually see their movements, and can also shake, whereby the ants might escape (a nod back to Sim Ant, perhaps?).
b) The Snowman Kit: Once placed together, the snowman has some pretty cursed danced moves.
c) The Ballet Bar: there is also a freestanding Ballet Bar that is a level 5 Dance Career Reward, that 2 sims can use simultaneously (providing there is enough room on both sides).
d) Half Court Rugs: you almost discovered the full depth, whilst trying to place the basketball hoop on top, but did not realize that you can place the hoops with invisible bases, to make a full on basketball court (pretty clever, eh?).
e) The Large Statues: I think all came with Bon Voyage, and can be seen at the vacation destinations, but my all time favorite of them is not the statue but the huge lava fountain (I have placed that on some of my insanely rich Sims lots). Also, the Pirate Ship, if you live on a beach lot (for the spoiled rich children).
There are a few items and gameplay that I had forgotten about, until more recently:
1) The Lighted Dance Tiles: While I have always used them, I learned that you can rotate their placement, to get different patterns forming.
2) Stackable Lighted Cubes: Again, I used them as stand alone, but did not know that they could be stacked too.
3) The Hobby Lots: While I did figure out that you can take your group outing/date to any hobby lot that your sim is a member of, I did not realize that they will also gain hobby enthusiasm whilst on the lot.
4) The FreeTime DJ Booth: I did learn early on about this being the only one that allows dance competitions, but there is one aspect that is truly amazing. Secret Society Lots do not allow any outsiders in (not even pizza delivery services), but slap in the FreeTime DJ Booth, and you get a DJ. I suppose, it would work with the LN one too, but those do not add dance competions.
5) Adoption to fulfill the 10 baby want? After watching @marticore 's video explaining how to achieve this in 7 sim days, I was just floored, not knowing that adoption would fulfill that want (comes in handy with Brandi Broke).
6) Social Bunnies: If 2 Social Bunnies of the same color are on your lot, they will fight each other, and if one is pink, the other is blue, they will be romantic with one another.
7) Will Wright T-shirt (just now learned this through a reddit thread): there is a female children's t-shirt, if randomized enough will be Will Wright's portrait (have not confirmed which t-shirt).
8) Double Yoga: I did learn early on that high body skill allows Sims to perform their yoga poses on top coffee tables, but actually 2 can perform on top the larger coffee tables. Fun times❣
9) The Headmaster "No Dinner for You" Trick: Discovered this through @crazymarc 's videos. Use every greet option available, show him each room (continuously moving most expensive/high environment level items), prior to each room. Use the "hang out" chat option on him, and that usually is enough to get the kiddos into private school, without ever satisfying his grumbling tummy.
There are so many more quirky aspects that I have forgotten about, or might discover for the first time❣
Sims can die if they use an elevator. I never seen this death but i know it can happen
