I know there's a lot of backseating going on. The only thing I'll suggest, as someone who cared for a wolf-hybrid, is the dens might be a little too tall to make them feel safe. Our wolf would cram himself into spaces no bigger than he was curled up. He'd get behind my uncles machine press and the wall, the sofa and the wall, and he'd kick out the 35lb dog out of his house and wedge himself into that tiny dog house. (The wolf was 126 lbs) I wouldn't modify the dens, just build some "sled dog" houses and stick them into the dens. Tiny door in the front, simple box shape. If the wolves like each other, they'll pile into a house together and lay on each other, so maybe one house a little bigger so they can both fit in. Otherwise, that is a fantastic enclosure. Just beyond beautiful and practical.

I dont rhink she can add to many dens however, maybe testing a smaller den might go well! And their are bushes that are growing that might make them feel more safe and closed off. I will say they spent their entire life with humans (without physical touch/content), so I don’t think being seen by Maya or a crew-member will freak them out much

Will the other animals in your sanctuary feel the addition of the wolves? for example by their sounds or smells.
If they do, will they feel anxious by sensing the predator nearby?
The Wolves are very far away from everything else (pretty sure Maya uses a tractor to get there)
Reed (orange fox) was a bit spooked by the howls at first, but he's gotten used to it by now! Everyone else didn't really care.

Amazing work! Though idk why you would cut the grass if you want to enclosure to be reflective of a natural environment in some sense?
I'm guessing its because there won't be the grazing animals that normally would run through wolf territory. I'm sure they'll let it get long but may have to come in with the weedeater every so often.

A friend raised an 80% wolf from a puppy and when they accepted me into their pack it was such a huge deal. Snuggling a wolf is something else. They can be so sweet and loyal, but also absolutely terrifying.
Was your friend a wildlife rehabber/conservationist?
Might be a stupid question but do wolf dogs need to be brushed?
My guess is the answer depends on the wolfdog as an individual. They will likely molt similarly to the foxes which can be itchy and uncomfortable if it gets impacted, but isn't anything harmful. The wolves might allow brushing, but also mounted scratching things like in the pasture or even just a sturdy tree can be a good place to rub on and remove any molting fur.

@@ryanrowe1975 they are wild animals, and should be left alone. Just because they look huggable doesn't mean you should hug them. It's dangerous for both you and the wild animal.

I'm probably a little late with this comment as they are moving in soon, but I hope you add some more trees /bushes/shrubs to their enclosure. This will help with shade and a little privacy when they feel stressed out. A couple shrubs in front of the entrance to the den's will help them feel more comfortable. Wolves like their privacy and like to observe their surroundings without being seen. They also like to hunt at night, so hopefully you can figure something out to keep them entertained at night.
I think they have tiny bushes planted, it’s just the time of needing it to grow. Haha I do see the that closure is pretty open so I thought I same but I saw some small bushes and trees planted.
The wolves are very lazy at night, they just sleep in their dens on the cams.

She said theyd need like 10k ft or something for a pack and this is 14k for two so enough
It's always gonna look small compared to the wilderness obviously, but as far as legislation go, I believe this enclosure is bigger than the recomended size for a pack of wolves. Here there are only two of them so it's more than enough.

I think she mentioned yesterday it's 10x the size of the enclosure they were in their previous home. The fence is also curved/ without hard corners so it lessens stress. The previous place was neglectful so one can only imagine how plush this is for them.
erm actually my 12 year old yorkie could easily jump that fence, so i'm sure a wolf could also
