    Retired LE myself. Went to Thailand site unseen like this gentleman. Our former career helps us to adapt quickly to most situations including cultures in my experience. Congrats on a happy retirement!

    Ok I spent 20 in Law Enforcement in CA and have lived in CNX for 8 years. CNX is safe from crime but road safety is very poor. When one is out on the streets(sidewalks are rare) keep your head on a swivel. Driving can be a dangerous activity. Always remember "Safety" is your responsibility.

      @@Livingabroadalex I’m actually flying in to bankok in January and while I’m there was hoping to fly to Chiang Mai for a week. I wanted to visit the temples in chains Mai. Looks like I may have to make other plans.

      @@AuntieCamilla1111 Burning season typically starts around the end of February, or mid March, and runs through May. The weather in Chiang Mai during January and most part of February are relatively cool and pleasant. Just providing info in case you wanna plan your trip around those months.

    Japan is wonderful in March April and May Vietnam is great in Feb Just leave for 4 months in burning season.

    I found that this past summer was hotter than usual, probably due to global warming (I live in the north of Thailand).
