by turning that pot all you are doing is messing with your harmonics in your radio that is part of the alignment of the radio by turning one you're taking all the other l out of alignment

What’s the point of making it look good on the meter?
138 xlr is the best radio 😂😂😂
cant turn my power up the resistor isn't there just a hollow plastic tube with some copper coil around it....what to do?
HAHAHAHAHAHA
Different numbered pot though good video
First u said clockwise n now u say counter clockwise. Which one is it.
Counterclockwise. Turning it clockwise lowers the modulation.
where do you connect the watt meter ? Confused about turning the modulator, clockwise is what you said first, then max is counterclockwise. Which is it ?
Just adjust for max swing when keyed and talking while connected to an antenna, or 50 ohm dummy load.
If you don't understand what he is talking about, take your radio to a shop.
He said in the video turn to the right! Clockwise then later he said counterclockwise? No one seems to able to clear this up.
@@73xlh Thanks for your "help". Just trying to clarify his directions - any input on that, rather than being flippant ?
@@doctorartphd6463 you might want to remove the fake PhD bullshit.
you said clockwise first than counter clockwise, which would it be bro?
counter for modulation.. and for tx power, just back out that plasic screw 04:01 ALL THE WAY!!! take it right out and you will be at max wattage
Is this the aame for a black chrome??
I have an older side mic 29 ltd classic and it's missing the VR4
Just cut the connector on the back side of the board
Thanks for explaining it in layman's terms
Counter clock or clockwise I'm confused
Because I align my radios with a metallic screwdriver 😂
how would i be able to tell a cobra 29 ltd cb radio from a newer model ? Do they have a year stamped on them?
The newer models are called the Cobra 29 LTD Classic and the Cobra 25 LTD Classic!
you crank mod to max and youll bget distored junk on tx
Which way do you turn the can with the coil
The watt meter will tell you which direction is correct
Question was just looking inside my 29 that pod with the cool it’s missing did my last tech take it out or something, modulation was half way
you mean the slug inside the coil is missing
Mines is missing too did you find out why ??
Is the RF transistor clockwise or counter? I understand vr4 is counter ty for the video
@@jamesl9686 Agreed!!!!
thank you for the lesson.
So turn the pod clockwise or counter you said both.
counter
My dead key pegs out and my calibrate swings all over the place. Once I get close to cal it either slams right or zeros.
Adjust the meter to compensate do to the high dead key set it to were the meter hits the green and red mark. Set cal to the set mark. Hope that helps
@@jlmoo1 next 34 I take I might give it a go
What is a white meter?
What kind of watt meter is a good one to get ? Thank you ! SA 10 JAN 18 19:30 pm
Get a BIRD with a 25 - 30 MHz slug, everything else is JUNK
Bird 4314C, the best.
what camera did you use to record?
by turning that pot all you are doing is messing with your harmonics in your radio that is part of the alignment of the radio by turning one you're taking all the other l out of alignment
Spreading the low pass filter coil near the antenna connector messes with the harmonics. Adjusting the variable inductor by the final actually DOES what he said. Read a book
Best radio Cobra ever made was not the 29 it would have been the 148
Would this be correct procedure to detune for an amp?
No
Yes
No the power pot is wax filled in the back
You said clock wise and then you said counter clock wise which one is it
my rf power pot doesnt have any screw in it at all. is that normal?
Not uncommon. It's already been tuned
@@jlmoo1 lol so I should probably have it checked out then huh? I bought it "new in box" at a truck stop...
@@momobhc hook a watt meter to it.
2 other utube web sites say turn it "COUNTER-CLOCK WISE ??? WHO IS RITE?? You stated do it both ways????
+Jay Skare sorry i did that. I guess it depends on the year. Some pod are vicvirca
What way do you turn the final?
Go counterclockwise with a plastic screwdriver til the tx power hits peak then go back in clockwise 1/4 to 1/2 turn so you dont over bias the final. You should also replace D5, D6 and D24 with 1N6263 Diodes Good Luck
I HAVE A COBRA 29LTD THAT DOESN'T TRANSMIT OR RECEIVE THE PA IS WORKING THE RF FINAL IS GOOD THE AUDIO CHIP IS GOOD CAN I GET SOME HELP PLEASE
you can try the mic jack. make sure the wires are not toughing or broken on the mic too.
I used to run 1000 watts freak, peek and tweak the Radio and Mic and power AMP for set up!!!!!... and all can Hear you!!! BUT!!!! you need the Amp. to hook up to you CB then YOUR set!!! #1 keep the good power on your Rig, Car or a good power supply at home for running 1000 Watts of power threw the AIR,, you will get out and people will hear you!!! IF U WANT A GOOD SET UP this is the way too go!!!! check it out!! 1000 watts is what most truckers use..... I know of hehhehehhehehehehe
most proffessional drivers i have known only one ran a kicker over 1k watts and everytime he keyed the mic the damn truck near stalled. most drivers including myself ran galaxy dx model radios with a rk56 mic.
*6 YEARS AGO !! ... **#YES** "1000 WATT" ...AND UP .... IS GOOD*
*HAVE A "1.3 - 1.4 KW" TRANSISTOR **#PA** ...*
*AND 7 OR 8 ..."1000 WATT"..TUBE .. **#PA** .. 0 - 30 MHZ ..*
So What Should The Watts Be After The Mod?
Mark 5 watt dead key and would swing 15. I've seen some peak out at 20 to 25 watt pep. Depending on the radio and meters
Which way do you turn the final
towards the sun..
You turn it over to a radio shop do you don't screw it up
What do You all thik about the Cobra Model 148?
Definitely one of their better radios because it used the Uniden UPD858 chassis.
How do I test it with the watt meter
*PUT THE ANT CABLE... FROM CB TO "WATT METER" ... ( SO )*
*THE ANT ... OUTSIDE ... (IN THE WATT METER) .. MARKED **#ANT** ..*
END OF STORY
Ok, now wait a minute. At the 2 minute [point on your video, you said turn the VR4 full "Clockwise". However, when you recapped at the 3:54 part of the video, you pointed to the VR4 and said turn it full "Counter Clockwise". So which is it? CW, or CCW?
Thanks,
Rich
Leave it at the factory setting and get a good power mic instead!
@@jfrphoto01 LOL, I posted that 5 months ago. Since then, I pitched the Cobra and bought a Stryker 955HPC. Then I had it peaked and tuned. I have it in my Jeep right now. The SWR is under 1:2. I live in Texas and I've talked to folks in Kentucky, Oregon and some other states, on a fairly regular bases when I'm on the Upper & Lower Sidebands. Of course, it's all skip, but even on the CB, I've talked to drivers as far away as a confirmed 15 miles, ('as the crow flies').
The 955HPC isn't cheap, but it's the last radio I'll ever need to buy. It's built solid and I use an RK-56A mic with it.
Why you don't talk about the final bring up the final you can change your final let people know that
I pulled this from the basement drawer.. and the fisrt video FEED is of this cb....NEHOW
where do i find a yd1022 audio chip for cobra 29gtl chorme
+James Maggard the front of the radio should face you. On the right hand side towrds the back of radio right hand side, it looks like a transtor but should have 6-7 pins, im not looking a schismatic so I'm just guessing
This video is for educational purposes. If you want to properly tune and peek your radio and you have no idea what you are doing. Take it to the shop and have a professional do it for you. You don't want to do something wrong and blow your finals out.
Is it the same for corba 25 classic?
Very similar. The vr pots maybe in a different location on the board. Cbtricks.com has the layout. Adjust for max and I think cut d11. Just get alinement to see which is which and you should be happy. Them cobra 25 are very good cb radio I've had several over the years and they all had good loud audio and had good pep 15+ watts cant complain I've seen some were i got 25 watts pep all depends. Good luck hope I helped
You are using a dummy load right?
Modulation on a 25 LTD is clockwise to turn all the way up don't know what a 29 is
Ok .my cb wont transmite anymore the green light comes on but nothing happens.
the rf transtor might be bad, check 2079 final transistor
Thanks will git back with on that.
my POD is empty.... its there but no adjuster in it..... empty..... whats the point of that?
+chris dieter ya what is the point, ssomeone might have already done your radio no adjustments needed
