Just stumbled upon your TH-cam show and it explains so much, we just very recently lost a English budgie after five years, thought we were doing everything right, which we were the best of our ability, but we had no idea that their heart was bigger than a normal parakeet, wow, what a smart intelligent, unbelievable bird. Absolutely heartbroken. Thank you so much for your great knowledge birds, what would be a smaller bird that would have the least amount of problems? A very sociable parakeet type bird that would not have the tumors or heart disease or as little as possible, if there is a proper answer. I’m sure there is a ton of people on here that can answer that question. I would really appreciate it, being in Florida. It is the perfect climate even though they are kept inside under air conditioning but always covered with no draft. Thank you so much for your knowledge. Great show and subscribed. Thank you!!!!
I brought a pair of kakarikis home two days ago they are extremely quiet I guess that will change in due time They are so beautiful Yes they are messy 😂 especially theo male one Can't wait until I can let them out Thank you for your valuable lessons Much appreciated
Summer is a beautiful bird. I like that you explain that the kakariki is an independent bird that is constantly on the go. The messiness is cute in that they will push everything out of the way to forage for food and they love to bathe. I enjoy seeing Summer eat with holding food.
Your Kakariki is a beautiful yellow, like a ray of sunshine 🌞 in the bird room. I have always wanted to visit New Zealand or Australia to see the parrot species in the wild. Thank you for all your informative videos.
Have had my lil Poppy for nearly three yrs and have enjoyed watching her grow and mature. I am lucky that she actually does like to cuddle - on occasion and at her perogative. She has been so much fun and I look forward to many more yrs with her. I enjoy your videos and your enthusiasm and knowledge of all your birds.
Finally someone who has a video on these critters!! I have 4 budgies and a cockatiel at the moment. With huge flight cages. I’m adopting a kakariki tomorrow. And really wanted more info on them, but they are harder to find in the bird keeping world. I watch your videos all the time!! Thank you so much ❤️
This video is adorable, thank you! They are such underrated parakeets, I love them so much. It's true they don't like to be touched, yet mine love to stay on my shoulder while I walk around the house. They even accept little kisses. Fennel (this pear on my profile pic) never leaves my side! She is afraid of dark rooms, but if I enter one, she stops by the door and wait for me to come back to the light 😂
I can't express enough how glad I am that I choose kakariki's over rosella's when getting my aviary. They are wonderfull birds and their curiosity means that it's easy to introduce new foods and new toys. All off my birds are parentraised but still tame enough to land on me and accept food from my hand. My tamest one is a beautiful cream colored (parblue+dom pied+ rec pied) male that was born in our aviary. He is also parentraised but because we made him used to us when he was still in the nest he now loves to get attention from humans.
I've only seen one in a pet store awhile ago (I live in western Canada) and I was so amazed by how pretty it was and how cute it sounded. I have yet to see another one in a pet store or up for adoption...
@@Loveofpets haha! I am! Your channel has helped me so much!!! It’s given me great advice on how to care for all my different species of birds. Thank you so much 😊 ❤️
I loved this introduction to your bird, it was o interesting & informative. It is adorable, but I I would say high maintenance bird for me. I do not have the accommodations for it. Summer is just adorable, I have a Green Cheeked Conure & a female lovebird. So my hands are full with them. Your introduction was suburb. Thank you so very much ❤😂🎉😅😊
I saw a Kakiriki awhile ago on your videos, and I just love them, got a pair exactly like yours yellow and red markings, so beautiful ,I finally have a pair. Thy are such a delight to have, very active birds, not afraid of me putting food and water, thy come right up to me . Thy have layer 5 eggs and I do hope I will have some babies, out of all my birds I love them the most. I have budgies, love birds, Bourgs, lady golds, kokitils and one zebra finch , my male got stuck and I didn’t see and he died. I use to breed canaries also . I love my birds, and I do love your lovely room you got yours in. That was my dream also , to have. ❤️🌹❤️
Love this video. Believe it or not, it's actually beyond difficult to keep these Kakariki as pets in New Zealand now with the additional requirements to gain a permit for keeping. Understandably so, since DoC don't want natives in the pet trade here for various valid reasons. So the rest of the world gets to enjoy our beautiful taonga Kakariki as pets, and we just get to enjoy them as mainly natives from now on ❤
Hi, I find your videos very informative, thank you. I have a couple of Kakarikis, and they are very much as you described. My question is, do you have Conures? Thank you again for your great vids.
I bought a $450 kakariki it's the yellow Crown kakariki I love it it's my first day with it it's sleeping right now it's about 12:00 a.m. in my country just wanted to tell you about that it's on topic so I am speaking facts right now the one that we got was from the pet store it's cool energetic and sleeping right now I probably already told you that my friends are coming over tomorrow and I'm going to slowly introduce it to them I know I wrote like in 100 word paragraph I absolutely do not care
I got a pair of young green Kakariki from a bird auction a month ago, but because they're aviary bred, they're not at all tame. I'm not sure how to get them more friendly. They enjoy flying round my room, and sitting on shelves, top of curtains etc and also walking about on the floor, and when they've had enough they will go back in their cage. They don't seem keen on bathing though, but now I've seen how yours liked it so much, I'll start to put a bath in every day to see if they might use it
Enjoy the video of this adorable small parrot.

Thank you again for your great vids.
Hi, glad you are enjoying my videos. I do not currently have conures. I used to have a green cheek many years ago.

Hi would you say that a kakariki and a linnie could share a cage together?
I don't recommend it.
It looks like a cartoon chicken! 😮
Haha, she does!
Hi. What can you do for scaly feet.
Hi, here is a video on scaley feet. th-cam.com/video/xTJkFpFpmpM/w-d-xo.html
What will be the estimated price of this beautiful bird
The price varies depending on where you are and if hand raised or parent raised. I have seen them sell from $150.00 to $500.00
Thank you for such interesting video ❤️ Whats the species called in minute 5:59? You called it Turquoise Wings? Thanks ✨
Hi, its a Turquoisine Parakeet
Can I get 1 pair kakariki bird ?
I have a green male
That's awesome! Does he talk?
