    "It's mostly here so I don't have to play Kaheera as companion" made me laugh, I hate playing random companions in decks they were obviously not intended to synergize with

    • @MrCommandor1998
      @MrCommandor1998 3 ปีที่แล้ว +6

      Companions also could be relevant source of information for your opponent, as another reason to avoid them if not actually needed. I suppose the number of times when Jund Food lost to the relevant mulligan is slightly higher than the number of times Jegantha actually was played.

    • @DakonBlackblade2
      @DakonBlackblade2 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@MrCommandor1998 On tournaments the list is open so... also the plus side of having a companion far outweighs giving them info about what deck you are playing, that is gonna happen the moment you play any card that matters anyway.

    • @DakonBlackblade2
      @DakonBlackblade2 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Companion is a very badly designed mechanic, I dunno what Wizards was thinking.

    • @MrCommandor1998
      @MrCommandor1998 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@DakonBlackblade2 vast majority of audience in this channel never participated in tournaments with open lists and I sure never would. Also, I said word mulligan for a reason.

    • @DakonBlackblade2
      @DakonBlackblade2 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@MrCommandor1998 Even in a world where all the person does is play best of 1 on Arena having a companion outweighs any info you might give your opponent. You made the mulligan thing up, there is no data to support that, ppl wont mulligan super aggressively for specific cards on best of 1, most of the time they don't even have the specific cards they need on the deck since best of 1 decks try to be a jack of all trades master of none.
      In best of 3 it makes even less difference as you will give some info on the pre side game which is normally played without cards tailored to beat your strat anyway and the most important tournaments are open list.
      If you think having a free (almost free, now that they cost 3 mana to put in hand) 8th card should be avoided due to giving your opponent super basic level info you are nuts.

    Grafdigger's Cage is a lot better graveyard hate card than Relic. Often, as soon as I play it on turn one, the opponent surrenders. It's worth the drawback of not allowing you to draw a card. It even stops Collected Company and Muxus.

    • @LegenVD
      @LegenVD  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    Tss, was playing this deck before it was cool B)
    Just a little feedback from my experience:
    - Unsure about the Relic tech since it prevents you from playing Unholy Heat. This deck is great at reaching delirium and it can snipe a full health teferi or a grown Valkyrie. It also prevents you playing Seasoned Pyromancer. Imo it's better than Chandra's Triumph btw and I ended up cutting all of them.
    - I'm playing a Karn great creator package instead of relic, it grabs Cage and can edge Muxus, graveyard decks, collected company, there's a safety button against Nine Lives in Perilous Vault...
    - Regulator should be a 4-of, it can be cycled easily so there's no drawback to playing 4 and it's such a strong enabler.
    - I'm playing 4x the zendikar mdfc that can deal 1 damage and 4x Shatterskull Smashing. The deck can afford to take its time with its lands and the extra utility is great. Den of the Bugbear is an alternative to District.
    - I ended up ditching the weaker Chandras (novice pyromancer and most Acolyte of Flames)

    I don't quite understand the Companion mechanics.
    Some questions regarding Zirda:
    - Can I have 1 Zirda as a companion (outside of the game) and 1 or 2 Zirda in the deck in _each game?_
    - Zirda can reduce the flashback cost (Light Up the Night in _graveyard)?_
    - Is the "any snow-cost" also a "any-color" cost? [Faceless Haven]
    - If is possible sideboarding Cage (no activated ability), can I use it in second duel?
    BTW:
    My version of this deck plays Faceless Haven for Novice Pyromancer (+ Regulator, brutal!). And Novice with 4-cost get it 6 counters for Light Up the Night and I obtain extra acceleration with Fable Passage. I'm tempting to use Zirda instead of Bonecrusher Giant....

    Hey LVD! Knowing that you'll probably not touch this archetype for a long time, I wanted to ask you if you would add some copies of the new Crimson Vow Chandra, and if you would, what would you remove?

      Novice pyromancer

      Yeah talked about it at the end of the video. I would try out two copies replacing Novice Pyromancer and either one Acolyte of Flame or one Torch of Defiance.

      👁️: The Chandra Dressed to Kill second ability require 'red-rize' a little more the deck, and this version have _10 no-red_ cards

    But without Bonecrusher giant, you can also play Zirda as companion! (I think). Far superior.

      Good idea, but
      Zirda forces to 'creaturize' a little more this deck, e.g., Runaway Steam-Kin, Chandra's Embercat, or , etc

    Isn't it better to play all 4 regulators? You can loot away extra copies, and upside of having it in play with this deck is just too high, so maximizing chances to draw it kind of makes sense.

    Show us an Izzet Walkers list. Ral and Chandra, ToD and Chandra, AI are absolutely bonkers with Acolyte of Flame.

    19:37 I’m sorry but if all it takes to have you flip the table and pack up your things is one boardwipe are you really even playing magic? Like genuinely, if you only play aggro decks that win or lose by turn 4 like I doubt you’ll have anyone to play with for long since most people actually want to play out their decks they built, not just sun through concession…
