    Hi Professor,
    I recently found your channel and I’m very much diggin it man! I’ll try and keep it short and sweet. I dabbled in the most beautiful game I love to hate in the 90’s and played maybe 40 rounds. Just enough to develop some very bad habits. 😅 I picked up a buddies clubs in October 2023 and promptly butchered a 9 hole, par 27 executive course near home. I’ll give them a shout out. High Cedars in Orting, Washington. A beautiful course to work your short game. Shot a 48. I must let you know, I was dealing with a botched meniscus repair and was grinding and grinding and grinding. Played several par 72’s 115-125. Absolute hack. Embarrassing to myself, my friends and frankly, for all humanity. Had an artificial knee installed on 12-26-23 and spend 3 months recovering. First week of April, I rented a cart and shot a 109 and away we go. By using some of Jimmy’s techniques, I’ve been shooting under 100, in fact, just Saturday, I shot a 92 on a course in Yelm, Washington named Tahoma Valley. By watching Jimmy and you, it works man! Of course it’s a struggle keeping my big fat ego out and not trying to smash and bash every driving hole😮. A lot can be and is said for TH-cam. Have not shot over 100 since returning to the game. In fact, that par 27 I shot a 48 on was shot at 36 2 weeks ago. I’m just here to write that it works. I’ll keep coming back. Anyway, just wanted to write and hopefully someone will read and pull out some hope and not give up. I will follow you watch your game get better and better and better. Peace!

      Dang that’s awesome!!! Sounds like you travel around and get to play lots of courses and I’d love to do that more. I was just up on Lopez Island and played their 9 hole about 5 times. Keep it up and thanks for the report!! I dig it!

    Jimmy’s home course appears very tight so this strategy would serve him well there. If I could only get him to use shot tracer. Now Manolo, that’s entrainment 😊

    I don't understand why you hit 2 8 irons, and then the third shot with a 3 hybrid...which you said was a good club for you? Why not tee off with the hybrid., and then adjust your second shot accordingly based on proximity to the ravine? I watch Jimmy's videos as well....my take is that he advises avoiding risk...but also playing to your strengths. It's easy to be critical sitting here on my couch, and I understand that it was crappy winter conditions and thart your a 17 hdcp....but respectfully, no amount of strategy is going to help you until you fix your short game. Chipping and putting should be where you put 80 percent of your practice time at this pont.....IMHO. Thank you for sharing your video.

      You know I was asking myself that question, lol!! Basically, this hole has a big gully about 250 yards off the tee, and most people actually drive it too far. So I figured if I was going to lay up I’d split the distance and hit the same club twice. And as you saw, when I hit the 3 it sliced right and I was lucky to have that 3rd shot.

      I agreed with you at first (why start off with the 8 iron), but it looks like Mash hasn't warmed up. He takes one practice swing, with no stretches. Jimmy always reminds us to keep the ball in play, so Mash plays it safe until he's swung the club a few times and loosened up.

    Several other TH-camrs have similar strategy, most importantly is to know your distance with each club. Good luck.

    Jimmy's strategy is one part of what he promotes, and it makes a lot of sense for most of us to save shots. The other part is his swing technique for hitting the ball straight more consistently - I think it would be good for you to have a go at that as well next time!

    • @ProfMash
      @ProfMash  9 หลายเดือนก่อน

      I thought I was doing that, too 😂 - but you’re right. There’s a lot more to his game than I’m squeezing into my little brain.

      He definitely makes it look a lot easier than it is! But he also gives you confidence that if you keep it simple and on the grass, you can play a lot better golf. That's my goal.

    Where is your cigar?
    I was told this by a very smart man. Take the club you feel most comfortable with, par five, hit that club once, twice, thrice, two putt, par. Any questions?

      @ProfMash  9 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Dang I knew I forgot something!!! That’s probably why I ended up with an 8 instead of a bogey.

    I started using Jimmy's advice and I'm scoring 3 to 5 shots better. Thing is I'm teeing off with a 5 wood not an 8 iron. Jimmy uses a 3 iron to tee off. It's a 200 plus club.

    • @ProfMash
      @ProfMash  9 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Today I used my 3 hybrid off the tee and played 9 holes pretty solid. I think maybe the 8 iron was overkill but I wanted to see what would happen.

    Sorry, but this made me laugh. Golf does this shit to you all the time. But as already mentioned, you need one of your good clubs that can give you some distance before the ravine. That’s one stroke off your 8 right there. You pointed out not going for the green which gave you a slice in the trees, that’s another stroke. You need more practice on your putting distances to get it to the jacuzzi, that’s another stroke. You gave yourself the 8 and you could of gotten at the most a bogie. Keep at it, we are all trying it. Also, I’m keeping track of good hole (bogie or better) and bad holes double or worse. Sunday was 9 and 9 for a 98. I got to do better than that to get to a 90 or better. Also track your putts. No more than 36 for the round. Play away from penalties at all costs and be conservative. Keep at it and you will get better!!😊

      Great advice and you’re right about that 8 - this morning I played 9 and used my 3 hybrid instead and had really great results. So I appreciate the feedback and suggestions. Good job and keep laughing because life’s too short to be serious 😂 - I’ll post my latest videos for more entertainment.

      It’s totally okay. Golf is frickin hard and makes people want to lash out and hurt baby rabbits or hit a deer if their golf ball would actually go straight. Keep at it boys and girls!
