90's cyberpunk touched upon a very serious topic - if a machine could think and 'feel' like a human - what difference would it make from a human, other than being made of different materials? Today this question kinda seems forgotten...
Music to the Armitage is perfectly fitted. This theme is awsome! I remember when I first saw Armitage on VHS when I was 14 years old :) Until today it is one of my favorite titles.
Damn. I think I was 19-20ish and still had to import the ost from Japan. I can't remember if it was the last thing I ordered from Japan before the UPS strike. It took from 5-8 months for parts of 1 order to all arrive.
dctp Nachtklub (night club) a programm of an, back then, middle class channel, in germany (VoX). Saturdays from 1:00 till 5:00 at night and mostly artsy-fartsy stuff and fake historical Interviews. But know and then 4 hours of unsubt Anime, at a time most didn't know Anime/Manga a thing. I still have a box of VHS i taped back then.
Not sure if anyone has picked up the progressive rock music references that pop up in the theme. 02:15-02:21 sounds like 'Pioneers Over C' and 02:52-03:05 might be a sample of 'Killer', both songs from the 1971 Van der Graaf Generator album "H is to He Who Am the Only One". Finally from 04:22 to the end, I think I hear a sample from King Crimson's "The Devil's Triangle". Hiroyuki Namba's music is listed on Wikipedia as prog rock, so maybe it's intentional :P .
I used to wonder why this tune sounded so familiar to me, despite never having watched Armitage III during my childhood. Then I realised; it's a cyberpunk version of the Get Smart theme.
25 years. somebody needs to hurry up and do something this anime would do well more fleshed out even today id sell my soul for more bring back ARMITAGE III #ARMITAGEIIIREBOOT2020
Ezek The Matrix is real. The break in the metaphor is that we were born outside of the Matrix and we're brainwashed/coerced into it by the social systems and economic algorithms executing around us. So, I guess what I'm saying is that we do live in that futuristic dystopia-- so you're halfway there. ;-)
First real anime I ever saw I think? Sci fi Channel had an event called japanimation in 98 or so and they played this. Maybe ninja scroll too. Few years later my cousin happened to ha e the VHS. Then I bought DVD releases. Here I am 22 years later listening to the soundtrack. Not a big fan of love stories but always thought this movie was perfectly done.
Every Anime I like has the same problem; its too short. And by the way this 80's anime has (like bubblegum crisis for example) the best OST ever. Hands down.
When I graduate I'm gonna make this into a real live action movie. I will work on the script, cast the right people, and work every detail to perfection. I will use the most advanced cameras in the biz to make it really come to life. Support me, please. Thanks.
Hey, could you guys help me out ? the music part up to second 0:41, i think i know it out of another movie...but i can't remember which one :( do you ?
"If humans don't want me why did they make me!?"
To be a baby factory
How my parents made me feel... lol xD
Cause humans. Humans make whatever they are capable of, no matter the consequences.
They dont make them like this anymore

Same here brother. My kid eyes had never seen anything like this at the time.
Mine was something like キャプテン翼, or ヤッターマン.
Watching this in 2021. And no one tried to make a real-movie out of it. Good.

What beautiful mix of techno and rock.

Pretty sure this is based on the Peter Gunn (1958) theme.

Why do you all think it's absolutely based on something ? Al these themes sound nothing alike.
Opening with the cybercover to Led Zeppelin is the best way to start cyberpunk anime.
That was the first thing that I noticed when I first watched it, that the opening theme was basically a techno cover of The Immigrants Song
Loved this track! It really added tremendous impact to the scene.
