AMV - Ghost in the Shell (1995) - "Inner Universe"

- I used footage from Ghost in the Shell (1995) and the opening theme to Ghost in the Shell: Stand Alone Complex (2002). It's a mix of old and "new" that I really enjoy.
The song I used is "Inner Universe" by Yoko Kanno & Origa.
Rest in peace Origa... The music you made changed my life for the better.

imho the coolest-looking animated movie of all time. nothing really ever came close to that neon-drenched cyberpunk aesthetic in the almost 30 years since it came out
i mean akira also had amazing animations, angel's egg too
@@xy2447 sure but i like this specific style the best. it's been very influential too

True 🙌
Facts man!!!! Nothing will ever compare to original ghost in the shell was the blueprint
One of the greatest inspirations to my career as an author came from this movie. I remember seeing that opening scene where the major jumps from the roof and disappears into the scene using her thermoptics and being absolutely hooked.
Ehy you got me curious , what's your novel/movie ? Yes I 'll admit English is not my mother tongue, and it's a bit late, so I hope you will forgive me for the whole thing.
@@pietrodardanello9985 I'm in process of editing it, but my novel " Of Phantoms And Angels" was inspired by Ghost In The Shell

This song is a great blend of orchestral and electronic/futuristic music. Everything I watched from the Ghost in the Shell franchise were nothing short of great. Including their choice of music.

The anime captured the real meaning of her struggle ...very proud of the effort they put
into the action sequences by taking the animation team to Guam and actually renting all

This AMV is so beautifully put together. Still hurts to hear this woman sing so angelically knowing she's no longer with us.
Will we ever see a return to this golden age of animation? One day I hope to see such love and devotion to the craft of anime again.
@@liamwilson7549 there have definitely been well animated movies in the last 10 years. Just look at the last Ghibli movies, Gundam Thunderbolt, Promare or anything by Takeshi Koike. What is lacking is the more realistic style of character design of the 90s, I'll give you that. But that doesn't mean modern anime is worse, it's just a different style.
@@frankjaeger2565 the last Ghibli movie was 3D lol
@@frankjaeger2565 oh and I own all the thunderbolt movies :P god tier animation quality.
@@liamwilson7549 I was talking about "The Wind Rises" and "Princess Kaguya"
@@frankjaeger2565 I think the problem with a huge portion of anime today is the character design has focused more on the body being overly sexualized rather than recognizable distinct faces like back in the 90s or even 80s. That’s not entirely a bad thing, but i feel it’s messing with the ying and yang zen balance :P
Absolutely loved this anime, everything was just so detailed, I've never seen anything like it and imo it's just one of a kind.
Indeed, that's why it's my favorite.
@@ranaetheartistofrandom_123 I have similar feelings since seeing that film a few years back, it's a classic, one of a kind distinct from GitS
Ghost in the Shell like others here are saying is a One Of A Kind experience, l have all of the GITS DVD's and l rewatch them often as there is just nothing else like them 👍
@@NorthernMouse52 I've tried watching Ghost in the Shell and... I'm sorry, but it feels like bad cartoon cinematography. I then rewatched Dr Strangelove, and it's clearly not me as I can clearly appreciate real cinema.

It's never been more relevant with issues of digital rights, privacy, rising existential dread and self-questioning, and cyber implants being so close to viability.
I'm finally getting through the first Stand-Alone Complex series, one of the best intros ever, I love this song. Her voice is mesmerizing.
I didn't care for that series as much as I liked the movies. I felt Section 9 was heavily sanitized, which took away from the dystopian setting the movie established (something I valued a lot about the movie).
We go from assassinating leakers and diplomats in shaddowy games between unaccountable domestic military operations to shooting guns out of goon's hands.
Still had some cool moments though.
almost 30* yrs... and the Major's eyes are as striking as ever.

Details in Ghost in the shell are insane.
Seven years later and this video has not been taken down. Amazing. Truly this song will never die
I must have watch this movie around 20 times literally. When SAC came out, I watched it because of this song alone. I would literally fall asleep to Origa's voice.

Damn this makes me nostalgic... and I just watched Ghost in the Shell for the first time a year ago, and I've loved it ever since. I miss watching Stand Alone Complex episodes every morning...
The effect of this music will never become dull. In my age of anhehonia, I will always be grateful that this song helps me to wake up when I need to.

Thank you for this AMV. This is a beautiful bridge between SAC and the original 1995 film.
Every other month I'm blasting this full force on my car's sound system on the way home. Origa hits differently.
This is the most epic and awesome song ever. Ghost in the Shell I confess I've only scene bits of the show but I will continue to be a fan of this.

man i remember i binged this anime like 4-5 years ago and then a year later or so i binged rewatched it. its just so memorable.
I love the original film, Stand Alone Complex, and this song, Great job mixing them! Just curious anyone else not like the 3D animated opening itself in the series?
Thanks. I'm not a fan of the 3DCG opening either. It must've looked incredible when the show was first aired though.
I didn't think about that, you're probably right, since everything else aged so well I forget it's age sometimes. Early 3DCG didn't age well, yet 2D has been almost timeless, like the first film still looks fantastic, especially on Blu-ray
It looked absolutely mind blowing for its time. It was pretty much unheard of to spend the money on a fully 3DCGI OP like that.
このセル画がたまらない!
From a purely musical standpoint, this and other Japanese cyberpunk songs at that were ALL 20 to 30 years ahead of their time!!!! Still awesome!!!!

Upon first watching this show on [AS], I knew this anime would be one of my favorites.
I did it a little backwards growing up. I watched SAC on Adult Swim and then a few years later officially watched the original movie. Rewatching the show after the movie hits differently in a good way.
Have you read the manga? It's cool to see how sac remakes several scenes and things from the source material which were not present in Oshii's movies
One of the greatest anime's ever created IMO
Superb... what a beautiful AMV, thanks for this masterpiece 🥲
Excellently made video! It really recaps the most classic and badass moments of Major. It's my opinion, but honestly, the movie (gits 1.0) has a classic vibe to itself, when compared to anime or other movie. To me, the shots taken from this movie sets a perfect tone to the song, even when compared to gits sac. The song vibes what Motoko feels during the whole movie, I can literally feel it from this video. Great work!
So I watched stand alone complex first then this movie. I think overall I loved the anime series more just for the stories and characters, but I cannot deny the original is a classic through and through. The animation is beautiful and so well thought out and crafted. Especially that water scene, such beauty crafted with no words. SAC adds flesh and depth to the characters, but sometimes it feels a little bit weird how they always sexualise Motoko which is something the original did not. I’m also glad the original questioned the day in day out nature of her job, while in SAC it feels like she doesn’t give much thought to it. Point is, both are really good and have their strengths and weaknesses.
Not true they didn't sexualize her she chose to be more feminine than other women since she was fully cyberized
Been on this shit since day one, Blows my mind every time , Just gorgeous , What a piece of art this is so just great !
