I started writing to my pen pal who happens to be in prison over a year ago. It has been one of the very best things I have ever done. My pen pal turned into one of my good friends! He is a very caring and real person. We ALL have a past that we all would like to forget. What I have learned is that people who sit in prison have more time to realize their issues and their realities. We are all human and we have all made mistakes. Understanding is a beautiful thing because we all yearn to be understood. God Bless All 🙏

I always say that understanding is one of the best things we can have.

Handwritten letters are more personal, printed letters are so cold and impersonal...😢

I agree, but damn my handwriting is atrocious, so I hope my new prison pen pals can read their letters.

@@brisma haha😅 - whoever you are writing will be happy to get it. 👍 My brother prefers hand written- something has got to give on it.

This is such a hard reason to explain to people why you want to write a letter to someone that has done wrong.. They are in jail after all but I just think the US justice system is just so awful in this day and age to put someone in solitary confinement it IS MENTAL TORTURE and it's been scientifically PROVEN that this caused mental illness. I want to help that not condone what they have done

Letters are personal, some people believe in God's forgiveness...each has their own reasons and doesn't have to explain it to anyone hardly or otherwise...

They are placed in unsafe conditions than that of what they were in. Placing them in Prison is placing their lives in danger for crimes that dont warrant such sentences. This is not justice.

I need advice. The person im sending letters to is someone that was in my life for 5 yrs until just recently he got locked up. I must be honest and say that he was never a good man to me. He was always mean spirted towards me but i always took it as a sign of immaturity because he was very immature. Im 10 yrs older than him eventhough i look younger than him lol Anyway now that hes in prison i have wrote 3 letters plus i dropped one in the mail today. I have not gotten any response from him. I don't know what to think at this point. Do i give up? Let him be. Do i wait and be patient because i know the whole mail process thing is not easy. I even send him a card with red lipstick kisses and my perfume on it...come to find out that's not allowed ..i mean idk im new at this. I feel hurt but im trying not to take it personal because based off of all the videos i have seen here. Inmates really look forward to getting mail. I dont want him to feel like no one cares for him because i do. I love him eventhough i know 10000% he does not deserve me. Im hoping his time in there will make him change...even if its not for him to end up with me but at least for him to change his ways that have gotten him in the mess hes in now. I do believe people change for the better sometimes. So what do i do? Do i give up or do i still write to him? Asking for a friend here. Thank you.

If you have written and he doesn’t respond walk away.. lord don’t chase a bad person ... if he doesn’t write you back you have your answer

@Raquel Moreno Many inmates have to distance themselves from the outside world in order to do there time and make it bearable. That could be it. I would just leave him be if he doesn't want contact.

Raquel , it really sounds like you care deeply about him. It seems like you are giving a lot and getting very little in return- that an expectation you need to manage with inmates. Please know that only God can change his heart. If I were you, I would move on and pray for him. If It’s God’s will for you two to connect, God will do that ❤️ at the right time

LavendarJ yes, sometimes no answer is THE answer.

Raquel Moreno Just curious if you ever got a return letter from your friend locked up? ~ Although people are right by saying no answer Is your answer, I also noticed you mentioned the 💋 lipstick 💄 on a letter & purfume on another. Those are both banned. More than likely, those letters were thrown out with the trash & never reached your friend. And too, mail can typically take a week to reach the facility. But it might take the mail-staff another week to sort thru all the mail, (& pre-screen or read it) before it's even passed out. Then, some inmates may want that reply to sound absolutely perfect, & they could spend Days writing / re-writing their reply to you. Perhaps they can't get a stamp for several more days when commissary opens, then more time to allow the mail to return to you.... it's called Snail Mail for a reason... & i hope you finally did get a reply from the guy you wrote.
