EXTREMELY happy I won this set on a bid on ebay earlier today!!! I was too young to actually search out all 35 cars and could never finish the set. I got the huge HW35 track set 2 months ago and now this should be arriving shortly in about a week or so. It's #164 and my mission to find my last piece of child hood has finally been found!!! Though mine looks like it has a crash in the package too, as the Krazy 8s is flipped on its side on mine. No biggie though, glad to FINALLY get Zed too!!!

I remember being disappointed that in the movie, ZED's windshield and windows were red, but they went with green for the actual diecast car. About a year later my mom sold the set on ebay for only $200. I can't even imagine the price this set would fetch now, even with the cars opened.

That's a pretty nice set! I have 9 of those cars I bought as singles in 03' also here's a collectors tip-the red aeroflash scorchers, the wave rippers corvette and Chrysler thunderbolt and the dune rats wild thing are very desirable! as well as the exclusive sling shot ofcourse. :)

These cars were like $3.99 a pack. For an adult, they may not see the value. These cars had water-slide decals, what Mattel calls Fusion Graphics, and the detail is fantastic! They also had co-mold wheels, there was a little comic book inside, and a pog. A pog is a circular piece of cardboard with information on each side.
Just remembered that I was gifted this 10~ years ago, and went scurrying around my house and found all the cars that I had opened. Looking back on my younger self, I do wish I hadn't opened some of these cars, but as they say "Hindsight is 20-20". I managed to find my Zed car, but other than maybe 10 cars, all the others are still sealed and in mint condition.
If I had kept my cars in the package from the late 60's, they'd be worth a lot of money too! I had lots of fun with them though and that's something that has a lot of value as well.
I don't know how much it's worth financially, but it sure is worth keeping! I especially love the Red Baron, Twin Mill, and Deora. Great review,....Again!

I love that road runner as a heavy metal fan I love the scorchers back when I was about 4 the wave rippers were my favorite because I always imagine vert as my big bro and since I have need for speed undercover. I made my '70 dodge charger look like the road runner :)

The track set takes a large amount of space. It is larger than my filming table. When I make a larger space, I will make a video. I won't be able to do this anytime soon.

I just found my Highway 35 set in my basement under a ton of dust. Younger me took most cars out of the box but left the limited edition Zed and two of the Dune Ratz trucks.

While the intention was to have people mail in UPC's for the Ultimate Track Set, there was some of the remaining inventory offered on HWC for $99. That's how I got one for my son. There was also inventory sold at Mattel's Toy Stores.
It is unlikely that these cars would be released in these colors anytime soon. The cars are still being used but decorated in new colors without the Highway 35 theme.
@marshbjuneb22 It is about supply and demand. I think that there is 10,000 or less of the 1995 Treasure Hunt Camaro and a whole lot of collectors who would like on for their collection. Since there are more people who want it, the price goes up.
It seems to me that I bought the World Race videogame for the Play Station but I didn't play it much. do you still play it? Were you saying that you had the original World Race leaders or you have recolors of all of them? As for Krazy 8, you know what, it has been awhile since I seen it released.

You may be looking at the Zamac Team Leaders set. If somebody had the complete box set for $100, I would buy that in a split second. The Zed car sells for $200 and up just by itself.

I just finished filming all of the Acceleracers Teams. Teku, Metal Maniacs, Racing Drones, and Silencers. The race set was only available as a mail in if you bought all the cars in the stores. The full car set with ZED was a HWC exclusive.

With Testors paint (I don't know anything about testrol), you could just use painters tape to cover parts and then gently use a small paintbrush.
