COUNTRY #19 was JAPAN 🇯🇵 (!!!!!), and we had the ultimate pleasure of tasting some of the most delicious foods we’ve ever put in our mouths! 🍣 Seriously, everything was out of the ballpark, and it was surprisingly affordable compared to the cost of quality Japanese food in the States.😋 This food tour was just the start to our Japan series, so stay tuned for lots more in this exquisite country. 🥢 Next week’s video will take place in KYOTO- see you then!!! 😁 🤫 OUR ULTIMATE JAPANESE FOOD GUIDE: chadandclaire.com/shop/p/japan-food-guide
I've been living in Japan for the last 30 years. These are the kinds of food we eat at home every day. It is funny. After living here so long, the food becomes common place. It often takes a video like yours and your enthusiasm to remind me how good the food really is here. Thanks.
@18:41 A slight correction. The Japanese rice balls are called onigiri (おにぎり), which is four syllables in Japanese, not ongiri (おんぎり), three syllables. They are also sometimes called Omusubi (おむすび). I hope that helps. I wouldn't want someone to watch the video, accidentally mispronounce it, and not get what they wanted.
I typically refrain from leaving comments on videos, but I felt i needed to share my thoughts after stumbling upon your channel. As I've been watching more and more travel videos, I must say that I was really impressed and happy with the way you portrayed Japan and highlighted its people and culture. It's refreshing to see a travel channel that goes beyond the surface level attractions and provides valuable information. Your video was packed with useful insights, and I truly appreciate that. Keep up the fantastic work, and I am looking forward to watching more of your content!😁😁
Thanks for introducing our food to people around the world! It’s so interesting to me to see how Japanese food look and taste to you. I love Taiyaki too but never dreamt of having them for years😂 I like the red bean paste one the best, which is the most traditional and standard one.
Love your journey! Could you maybe do a q&a again about travelling? What are the challenges? What do you like the most? How do you keep yourself healthy (different sleeprithm, jetlag, different food etc.)?
I’m traveling in one year during spring and I’m already preparing 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣😙🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣😙🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣😙🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
My favourite place of food…love their izakayas for the variety of food , drinks and atmosphere… normally I buy some Maisen katsu sando to bring along for plane or long distance train rides
Hi from Los Angeles! I'm legally blind artist and I love to listen to youre videos)) thanks a lot for the journey ! Also I love Japan, japaneese painting and food) ❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤
The ramen shop they visited is one of my favorites. I have been going there since I was in high school. The ramen shop seems to have become famous among tourists over the years and is often crowded during lunch time. Most people eat tsukemen rather than ramen, but my favorite is ramen. And you should have rice at the same time, because it is the best way to enjoy this ramen. Put the bean sprouts on top of the rice and pour the ramen broth over it. The flavor will explode in your mouth.
It is interesting to see people try Uni for the first time. Do you know in California where I live you can get a fishing license and harvest buckets of it a day from our local beaches and some cities pay divers to remove it because it is becoming invasive here, while restaurants still sell one piece for $36 USD and people fly to Japan to try it?
Awesome food tour! Can't wait to try the seafood restaurant in Toyomi. Slightly off topic, do you mind sharing the accommodation you stayed at in the video? I'm shopping around for accommodation at the moment.
Beautiful, just beautiful! I learned so much from your Food Tour of Tokyo, Japan. From the ancient temples to the unique customs of the Japanese people. And one can gorge on the Japanese food which is all healthy and non-fattening. The production of the video was very entertaining too!
Oh I was so hoping that you go to Japan! 😍 We just got to go first time in early march and I'm craving aaaalll the foods all the time 😄 Japan stole my heart and we will definetly go back someday. Really excited to see all that you got up to in there.
Love Japanese food but it took me time to enjoy fish sushi. It's so interesting how active the business areas are..teeming with people..but so much quieter than say New York City...like that. Were those pallet tables at the sushi restaurant? Clever. Keep going..enjoying your trip! Happy Easter 🐣
*acting intensifies* 😂 I miss Japan so much! We spent a month there eating our way around. Definitely one of our top destinations. We weren't even filming back then, so I can imagine shooting would be so difficult. Most of the places we it up were quite far away from one another...so those hour long train rides sound all too familiar. 😵💫
Hi Chad and Claire I've been enjoying the Thailand videos and getting ready to watch this new one in Japan. Just curious, what is Claire's family Asian background? Wondering if you have visited the country where your family is from. Thanks for awesome videos, keep it coming 😊👌🏼
For the small food shops where the seating is only a few people at a time- how long would you say the avg wait is during peak dinner time or lunch time? are the lines very long or people just dont wait and go somewhere else where seats are open?
By pure chance and maybe TH-cam algorithms, your video popped up in my recommended list. I used to watch you guys regularly many, many months ago and then loss track of your travels and videos. So surprise, surprise when your Japan Video showed up. You're still the fun loving, upbeat and delightful couple I remembered from back then so I didn't hesitate to watch this video especially since we are going back to Japan one more time and hopefully sometime soon. Enjoyed watching this and look forward to your upcoming foodie videos from Japan. Oh, I also subscribed and hit the notification bell so that this time I don't lose track of Chad and Claire. Cheers and Kanpai........ 🥂/🍻
Clare is so nice, so sweet (sorry Chad!) 😉 My wife and I are going to Japan for the first time in May. Getting excited and nervous. We're a little fearful of the strict rituals when it comes to dining and committing a social faux pas. 😩
Hi I am Japanese. Don't worry about it. Generally, no one cares about what you do unless you make a huge mess, especially if you are not Japanese because you are not supposed to be familiar to the culture. So enjoy the trip🍙🍢😋
I am from Kyoto Japan 🇯🇵 My home country is in my opinion the most beautiful in the world. When I visited America, I was put off by all the trash and litter everywhere. Very disappointing.

With the quality of these vlogs I’m shocked to find out that this channel only has 50k subs. It deserves at least a mil!
Not too sure we will ever be that popular, but thanks for spending your time on us! :D

3:16 Shooting Star by XG playing in the background really brought this to life for me

Hey Monique! We plan on doing another Q&A this year! Hopefully sooner rather than later. These are all excellent questions!
I miss Japan. I just had my 2nd trip there this year Feb-Mar. I cant wait to go back in May 2024.
Be carfuls of golden week

So much delicious / yummy food. Absolutely Loved Every Minute

@6:45 That was kaisendon (海鮮丼), a bowl of fresh sashimi or other seafood on a bed of white rice, that you ate.
I think it is Onigiri instead of Ongiri
ACTUALLY….
It is
Korekkto
Yes its onigiri meaning RICEBALL
Uh oh the vowel police

Wow, thank you! Glad you enjoy our newer videos
Make sure you check out Ichiran! Best ramen in Japan hands down! One of the cheapest too
Looking forward to the rest of the series. In the ramen restaurant, did you order just one ramen bowl for the two of you?
Happy Easter you two

You ate Chirashi…fish with the rice under it. Also, the rice ball is pronounced O NI GI RI. Just found your channel and loved it!
哈哈,很开心看到你们到日本旅游了😊,希望我有一天也能去这个我最想去旅游的国家😆
I have never seen a young girl eating buck wheat noodle at soba stand🍤🥢.You are brave!😍

Hi Chad and Claire
I've been enjoying the Thailand videos and getting ready to watch this new one in Japan. Just curious, what is Claire's family Asian background? Wondering if you have visited the country where your family is from. Thanks for awesome videos, keep it coming 😊👌🏼
Claire parents immigrated to the US from Taiwan back in the 80s/90s. Hope this helps!
Loved this vlog so much! I just got home from Japan and this vlog reminds me of my recent trip! The food in Japan is heavenly!
when claire said there a little "surprise!" in the onigiri 😂

What is Udon noodles made of?? You are saying....brian water and wheat flour...I can't hear well - what water?? (on the 6th minute)
I gotta try this❤️
Hello from France
After Thailand, I would have thought that the next country you would visit would be either Cambodia or Vietnam, well I was wrong.
That was a very strong guess! Would have made more sense that way.
The green “pickled relish” is called takana, it’s picketed mustard greens and not a relish at all.
Video very interesting but U both are so lovely. Iaorana from Tahiti.
サーモン丼と肉寿司、鯛焼きでカスタード、レンゲで乾杯。伝統を飛び越えちゃったね🦸♀

i was boring in oska japan
That's the thing about food tours, I would never be able to eat all that food back to back.
Why they never swallow food 😮😮
for god so loved the world that he gave his one and only son that who so ever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life,
Well, I will never be able to come. So I will see this.😢😢😢😢

Fun fact: Memory lane is also called Shonben Yokocho, which means Pee Lane. I guess people get drunk and pee in the alley🤮
