Thanks Ian, hope you are doing well over there, how is the Series 1 resto going?? . Our downsize will be a slow process, I have to build another house but we are selling the farm sooner rather than later.
George and your videos have really given me a lot of enjoyment watching your work in putting him back together. There are always others around, and some of the projects you have there do look exciting. Unfortunately I cannot support your channel how it deserves at the moment, but very much apricate what you have done for the land rover community.
Thanks so much,I appreciate your appreciation :-) You are right, there are plenty of good projects to do. I see my roll as connecting cars with people that appreciate them and will get them restored and back on the road, youtube connects me with those people fortunatly, its a good community.
Thanks, I have another house to build as it happens but people are not as intrested in that so much. There are always other Landy adventures even if I am not on the tools.
Finally George will never see this smith radiator hehe ! Hope to see you restore a new one , I pass such a good time to look at all yours videos about George restoration
I just see the video and a I really was very sad that you had to sell and say goodbye to George. it's a shame even if you have to sell it I have a Land 107 “and an 80” and I can't imagine what it would be like to have to dispose of them. I followed your videos and saw the affection you have with the Landys. I hope that soon you can enjoy a new project, regards from Brasil
Thanks Washington, at the end of the day they are just cars, I enjoy saving them and getting them to be restored. After 35 years in the restoration and building industry I would like to pack up my tools and go fishing a bit more but I will always save landrovers that need saving and get them to people that will restore them :-)
Sorry to see George go but life's a journey some things travel with us for a while and then go their own way. Saying that I still have dreams of finding my first car again one day!
That is so true, I am not that connected to 'stuff' preferring experiences, most important thing is family, friends and community, how we treat people is the only legacy we leave really.
Sorry you had to part with George . I have a1955 107" pickup and could never part with it as long as I can still drive , would like to think that it would stay in the family but my son doesn't seem that interested . All the best from the UK .
Thanks Colin, indeed it is hard to part with them, at the end of the day family, freinds and community are the important thing, I prefer experiences to stuff. Your son may view the landy diffrently as he gets older hopefully.
Sad to see it go, but it looks like you chose a safe new home for it. Seems like Dorian is trying to own the whole production run of Series 1s at this point. He posted a while back that he'd bought the 107 wagon you'd pulled out as well
Thanks Simon, he certainly is developing a good collection, yes he has purchased the 107sw and put a good budget against its restoration. Given the cars significance (last RHD series 1 built) it needs to be fully restored, that was beyond my budget so I was pleased to find a custodian that would get it done right.
You do what you have to do mate. In the end, they are just cars and there are more important things in life sometimes. I know Doriano will look after George.
@@graemelliott3942 someone is have a lend of someone here. Graem, are you referring to the vintage caravan? I was looking forward to seeing work progress on that too, but I haven't seen Steve bring it up or speak about it...they must've had a few choice words and parted company.
@@MiniLuv-1984 I have 2 caravan projects on the go for myself but have been busy on paid projects so have not progressed on them. We are still doing both vans ( one touring and one food van) when we get to them. My paid work is building and it dominates my time as it pays the bills unlike doing restoration and love projects.
Lucio, I decided the budget for restoration of the Station wagon was more than I could afford and I wanted it to be restored properly as it is the last RHD Series 1 ever made, so sadly I have sold it to a bloke that has the budget to do it right. There will be one more video of it though before it goes I hope.
Life changes all the time...Steve, maybe you can share why you are moving to a smaller place and how you plan to keep your interests fulfilled? I must admit, I find it hard to understand why paradise is not good enough for you :)
Ha, what I share on youtube is a small snippet of what I get up to, my interests are pretty broad and include my building and development work, boating, fishing, playing music, cooking, traveling, camping , outdoor pursuits... and a host of other stuff. Owning and caring for acres and a self reliance farm is essentially a part time job and after 17 years we want to explore other interests. We have a waterside block of land not far away and I am building another house on it and plan to retire in 3 years time to spend more time doing other stuff.
Down sizing = moving to a smaller home/property and reducing the amount of 'stuff' we have to simplify our lives :-) I am looking to retire in 3 year time so I guess yes..
Thanks Stu, The move is a slow motion one, I have to build another house yet, its a 3 year plan to retirement (ish). There are plenty more good cars out there that need rescuing and rehoming so that will always keep me busy.
LANDROVER.Rover being the operative word. Cheers George.
Indeed Mr Duff.
So long George, such a great Series 1. Good luck with the move and downsizing, all the best from Canada. Ian

Sad to see George go,firstly,it was my dad's name and secondly, the reg number was the year I was born, keep up the good work.
Ha thanks Claire, a good vintage indeed :-)
