Of all the cars I’ve seen driven on this channel, this one is way up there as one of the most pleasing to see driven. The weather! Man! That car would be the one to have over so many with twice the power. Great stuff.

Great review. I test drove one of these today and put an order down. There is a wind deflector that you have to manually pop up. Makes a massive difference. I can see that it’s not up on your review. Bloody awesome car.
Is that specific to the GTS model? On the normal Targa 4 I’ve never seen something like that

The wind noise and cabin turbulence is pretty irritating when door window up but it improved when both door windows bring down .. Targa 4 GTS is a magnet of eyes whenever u drive on road .. very nice and well done review video 👍

How Is It?
Targa all the way. I own a 991.2 Targa 4s and love it. Wish it came in 2WD - otherwise love it. Wind noise, - super easy and no dramas, especially with the windshield spoiler

There’s a wind deflector on the top of the winshield that you can put up that I noticed wasn’t up on this one. Should get rid of the wind buffeting
Drove the 992.1 Cab S and 992.1 Targa GTS back to back but surprised to find less wind noise at speeds up to 100 mph with deflectors up on both cars! Love the 6MT in these cars!

I have a white metallic targa 4s with red and black interior ordered. Ordered in July and was 4th in line for an allocation. Found out today that I am next!

I agree. I go back even earlier to the G type where the roof was a fibreglass panel. Four clips and it was off. The problem back then was that there was nowhere in the car to store it. It was a really small car back then. Today's 911 is huge in comparison so I am sure there would be a way for the development team to stow it somewhere. They came up with the most complicated mechanism in automotive history to store the roof mechanically, so fitting it the old fashioned way would be a breeze.

On my second Targa now, this one a 992. I LOVE the design but they end up making so many loud rattles and squeaks from all the components in and under the rear glass, especially under load. I will probably go coupe from now on since that sort of thing bothers me.
under load as in when you're driving it hard? thinking about getting one myself
@@TheChickenwing100 yeah, I actually keep sports exhaust closed because the buzzing is so bad. Its definitely something porsche will work on within warranty, but as noises tend to come-and-go, IDK if it will get completely resolved.
Damn, that sounds like a bit of a negative in an otherwise nearly perfect dream car. Do they develop after a certain amount of kms or pretty much since new?

@@TheChickenwing100 Only way to know for sure is go for a test drive. Mine doesn't have any rattling noise and I find the wind buffeting tolerable (I live in London so I rarely drive over 40mph lol) especially with the windows down as well.
I prefer the targa version. The 992 Cabrio has something I don't like in the line but the targa gts is beautiful

I think the targa is most special in the lineup . Agree with you it , certainly looks the part and is the best looking 911 .Brings to mind that rare 911 speedster . Coupe ticks all the boxes for the keen driver but comes second . The 911 convertible finishes third in my opinion .
i have driven a lot of 911 but I find the wind noise in the targa really annoying. so I would definitely go for the convertible where you don't have that.
Its weird how they didnt fix that issue, or is there even a good fix for the wind issue?
You can’t really fix they tried with little flaps on the top but I doesn’t help tbh

Correction: 992 GTS coupe and Cabriolet are equipped with Turbo suspension and brakes, GTS Targa is built on Carrera S chassis.

If you want an open car, get a 718.
The coupé (no sunroof) is the only way to go.
Shopping for a Targa now. Might have to be a 991.2. Looks like you may not know about the wind deflector about the windscreen which reduces/eliminates much if not most of the wind. The button provides an additional 2lbs pressure tot he turbos

what made you go for the cabriolet rather than the targa?
@@Melancholy308 I found an allocation at msrp. Other dealers were quoting me 50k over for coupe and targa allocations. If all things were equal, I would definitely go for targa. My plan is to drive it for a while and then trade when the market calms down (whenever that is).

I love my 991.2 Targa 4 GTS manual. I have a sport cats and a Softronic tune which really improves the sound and power. I don't notice the extra weight compared to my 991.2 GT3 for street driving. The Targa seems so planted and sure footed while driving on the twisty roads in Western Pennsylvania. Also, top down is where it's at unless you are driving at high speeds which we don't get to do that often here.

I really wish they'd keep the rollover bar, but go back to the sliding glass panel a la 997 era. The weight penalty on this roof is real.

It´s better to put windows down when you cruise higher speeds in Targa. I used to do it even when i was in the city, it´s much more comfortable than with windows up. 😊
