  • That's right! Mark's finally back. He's been super busy with show presentations and lots of development projects here at the factory. But we finally wrestled him free to get back to making great videos!
    In this TOD, Mark shows us how one simple code can open up possibilities for adding a Poka-Yoke into your program. What is that? Click play to find out!
    Here are some other TOD videos relate probing your parts:

    The dislikes in the videos must be machinist that "know everything" and "never crash"

    Very helpful, thanks Mark! This is much simpler and faster than doing measuring cycles and comparing numbers to #188 to determine if part orientation is correct.

    Welcome back Mark and thanks for all of your firms great videos. Silly question, given a self centering vice couldn't you run a check on both ends? If it's right run plan A if its vice versa run plan B which would probe the hole in it's alter position and then run a mirror image code. This would make it fool proof and have the advantage of proving the part is actually there as well as saving time.

    Great history lesson ... but any alkaline power source with 1.5 volts (like AA, AAA, C, D, etc.) is a *cell*. If you place multiple cells in series, then you have a *battery*. Perhaps after realizing that "voltaic pile" sounded like something he did in an outhouse, Alessandro Volta borrowed the terminology for his 1799 invention from the cells in a monastery, in which monks lived. More trivia: Rectangular 9Vs are true batteries - if you crack one open, you'd find 6 tiny cells inside, each producing 1.5 volts.

    I need to use the probe before running some weldments. Not to check part location but to set Z for A0. G54 and A 180. G55. This is the first vid I came across and it's already helpful. I need to do a bit more research but I'm already thinking I can use P9810 before I move it into position just to be safe. Then after it's in position I plan to just run the Single Axis Work Offsets probe feature that I just copied and pasted into the program.

    • @Depth_of_Cut
      @Depth_of_Cut ปีที่แล้ว

      It's done already 1st time I ever programed a probe in the program. was really easy I just kept Z at G90 G53 Z0 then programed it to move directly over the part. Then went in did a single surface Z axis work offset probe for my 2 cords G54 G55 then copied the program and pasted it into mine. now when I hit cycle start it moves XY above the part then turns on probe and moves down on Z till it makes contact. There is only 2 ways to get the part in the fixture so I probed it along an edge so if its in 180 degrees off it misses the surfaces and throws an alarm... POKA YOKE...POKA YA-OK!! ...Programed on a VF 6/50 software release 100.21.000.1142. machine was manufactured around March 2022

    Another great video, thanks Mark. Question for you, I think there's a bug in the controller on my machine. Who do I tell? When I use #3006 to stop and display a message it only displays for about 2 seconds then goes away and is replaced by a SnglBlk Stop message. I checked yesterday and this doesn't happen on our VF4 with the classic control there it stays until you hit start or reset like it's supposed to. Machine is an EC-1600 with NGC.

    That's why you have the G1 after the 9810, so the flag doesn't change. Thought it was weird, then seen that if statement after

We all have potential to be, and or, commit said crime and thereby be an genuine idiot. .. a very good topic

    is there any command / g-code to fire the probe into "vigilant" mode so as not to break it when writing a program? something like "P9832"
    I mean the drive to the detail with a probe so as not to break it
    program :

    This still allows the operator to not set the part against the stop or to set the part on top of chips. Not to mention it's a giant waste of time to call a probe and run this cycle in a high production environment. I'm a big fan of idiot proofing a setup.
