  • Here is our guided audio tour of the history of the Luray Caverns and how it was discovered as well as facts about the formations and areas. Some of the formations and areas you will see are the Amphitheatre, Fish Market, Dream Lake, Pluto's Ghost, Pluto's Chasm, Proserpina Column, Skeleton Gorge, Titania's Veil, Giant Redwood, Saracen's Tent, Fallen Stalactite, Giant's Hall, Double Column, Cathedral, the Great Stalacpipe Organ, Wishing Well, Morrison's Hall, Fried Eggs, Veteran's Plaque and Stebbins Avenue. Located in Luray, Virginia in the Shenandoah Valley right outside of Shenandoah National Park, this was a really awesome tour.
    This is the second episode of our Appalachian Mountain series where we took a two week road trip from Shenandoah National Park down the Blue Ridge Parkway and explored the Great Smoky Mountains. From hiking various portions of the Appalachian Trail up to summits and balds, to exploring majestic waterfalls and bluffs and historical mills and cabins deep within Appalachia, we definitely enjoyed seeing the beauty of America's National Parks.

    That is such a cool cavern. I never heard about it before until your video. The room with all the reflections from the water was like looking in a mirror, and your right, the stillest water in the world.

      I hadn’t heard of it either! So much amazing stuff to see. Apparently that area of Virginia is known for its caverns.

    What a cool area. We've not explored Luray Caverns but have heard about it. Giants Hall looks really cool. Love how you explained everything. The columns are really neat as well. Thanks for taking us along!

    Another thing i found amazing is they still have the original ladder and opening where the guys first came in and also their lantern they used. To think about climbing into a sink hike in the ground with only a candle is amazing in itself. The reflection pool is simply amazing. I to thought at first they were coming up from the bottom. Amazing place

    • @MagellanandGreyhound
      @MagellanandGreyhound  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Right? We are adventurous, but I don’t think either of us would say, let’s get a ladder and a lantern and go down into this unknown cave! The only cave more stunning that we’ve been to is Carlsbad.

    What?! It totally looks like there are stalagmites under the water. That water is incredibly tranquil. Pluto's ghost is really cool! And that has to be the most unique organ we've ever seen. Would love to close our eyes and just let that sound engulf us.

    • @MagellanandGreyhound
      @MagellanandGreyhound  3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      It was definitely a rad place. Fortunately the organ sounds much better than how we picked up the sound. Can you imagine listening to moonlight sonata in there?

    What a spectacular place. Those formations were just amazing. We haven't been Carlsbad Caverns either. I bet to see Dream Lake in person was probably jaw dropping.

    • @MagellanandGreyhound
      @MagellanandGreyhound  3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Dream Lake was right at the beginning too. You HAVE to go to Carlsbad. And make sure you don't take the elevator down. Walk down through the front large cave entrance. That place was unreal. It's probably a really long day drive out there for you both too.
