It's amazing that, I am Cuban and I never heard of him , and he's probably the greatest Cuban boxer ever!

Interesting to see Ali as a ring announcer in Toronto, but I guess it makes sense. He defended his heavyweight championship there by winning a unanimous decision over George Chuvalo in 1966. He would have a rematch versus Chuvalo in 1972 in Vancouver, which produced a similar result.

This fight is one of those clear representations of a boxer's greatness. Napoles's speed was starting to leave him, but he was still beating much younger, faster fighters. He had so many dimensions to his game that even as he started to age he could get you on footwork an intelligence alone.

Yeah. unlike Pacquiao who can't beat a slower but technically sound fighters like Ugas when his speed leaves him. Mind you, Ugas is still much slower than Pacquiao.

Todas las peleas de antes se disputaban con deseos de triunfar y se ganaban en el rhin y no en el escritorio como algunas de la actualidad. como la del Canelo y Golovkin que perdió el Canelo y dieron empate etc etc

Eddie Perkins was better than either of them. I saw Eddie fight Clyde in Chicago in 1970. Eddie was a bit past it but Clyde did NOT lay a glove on him. UD over 10 rounds. Eddie fought Napoles in Mexico years before. Jose got a very controversial decision. The correspond, a Mexican, for Ring Magazine wrote it was the worst decision he had ever seen. The Mexicans were not about to let Napoles lose. Perkins easily beat’s Clyde and then Clyde gets a shot at the title. Napoles wanted NO part of Eddie Perkins and Eddie was really a LW, JWW. Eddie was a great fighter and if you are reading this and don’t know the history of Eddie Perkins you should look it up. Boxing is filled with terrific fighters who were avoided. Charley Burley and the Black Murderers Row for example.

Perkins was a good, underrated fighter, but in their fight in 1965, Napoles knocked him down and won a clear decision!!

@@angelsegarra-gonzalez4708 but he would never give Eddie a rematch. Instead he fought guys Eddie beat.
I’ll have to agree with the Mexican Ring correspondent. No way a slick boxer was going to win a fight in macho Mexico against their man.
