@@hanzagod cheers mate, keep doing your thing, you're an artist. Been a fan for a long time. 👊👍👏👏👏
Great job man another solid video he reminds me of wilfred Benitez a smidge
RIP, this man is truly forgotten, thanks for the videos Hanza
As a kid I always wanted to box like him... even though I don't train anymore I still love watching him fight.
I used to get told off all the time by my coach for trying those looping lefts haha
They called him butter because he was as smooth as butter in that ring.
Not Miracle Whip?
A truly great cuban-mexican boxer, the fight against Monzon shouldn't have happened. Shame he was kind of forgotten in his later years.
I read somewhere he was at his peak as a lightweight in the mid 60s, but couldn't get a title shot, so moved up to welterweight. Perhaps 10 stone was his natural weight hell of a fighter never gets mentioned in the argument with Leonard, hearns Mayweather or Robinson for that matter gives them all nightmares for me. Thanks again for another great vid.
Robinson himself credited napoles as the best in the world at that time
Ifykyk
@@Feedback406 Robinson obviously knew class when he saw it, his old foe gavilan v mantequilla would also have been a classic with a Cuban twist.
Just learned about another great boxer. Thanks.
El Cubano más Mexicano.🇲🇽
His alias was spot on he's as smooth as butter
Not only did Napoles have slick defense, but that jab off the front foot landed every time.
Wow, his perfect form reminds me of Joe Louis. Great Highlight
My God that man could box. You can learn so much just by watching his feet.
Hell yeah, one of my fave fighters. Glad you made another video!
Outstanding work as always!
The incredible blend of patience, Cuban footwork, body position, defensive-offensive transitions, and power punch setup + selection made Mantequilla one of the smoothest, most balanced boxer-punchers of all time!
Jose Napoles was a truly special fighter. Top 5 Welterweight in history!
One of the best cuban boxers...🙌🙌
I love this channel.
RiP Jose "Mantequilla" Napoles🥊🥊
Cuidad Juárez, Chihuahua México
Amazing footwork always on balance never out of position
Video suggestions: ezzard charles-routes to the body and a jab highlight for mike mccallum and buster douglas.
SRR routes to the body would be cool.. :)
Good thought the jabs for those two.
What a beatiful boxing, and he's so underrated by the mexicans today, what a shame
One of my Favorites!
One of the greatest welterweight champions!! Thanks for the video
I feel like you were listening!! Gracias
1:44 doesn't that look like the shot Canelo landed on Billy Joe??? Anyone??
Wow... he is a great fighter..watching from philippines...
An early version of SRL, the shoulder movement and the bob and wave looks similar. Maybe both learned from the technic of Willie Peep
Reminds me more of Benitez but looks physically stronger.
Looks like joe frazier
Fun fact, Mantequilla was actually Jose’s BROTHER’s nickname, his name was originally “pussycat”
A name confusion happened where Jose (iirc) stepped in for his brother on one of his fights, and one of the best nicknames in boxing history was earned
very nice video. one of the most beautiful guys to watch fight. they dont call him butter for nothing
Besides myself I cant think of another fighter as smooth as my main man Mantequilla!
Beautiful.
🇨🇺Butter Napoles.one of Cubas best
Masterful boxing 👍
Smooth as butter
His fight style resembles SRR. Elite boxer for sure
Legend
Straight up monster
@haNZAgod where do you get your beats for your videos?
Saw Canelo bring his name up on Mike Tyson’s TH-cam/Podcast. I see Canelo counters the right by slipping backwards towards his right with his head, then counters with an uppercut like Napoles.
Dude, I never knew he can turn shift to southpaw and orthodox like Tyson and Hagler
My pops met him in Mexico in a club, and partied with him.
Then they went to several other clubs after that one.
Haha.
Then my pops ran into in Downtown LA. They said to each other "You're everywhere!"
Ray Robinson was quoted saying he rated him p4p best boxer in history mantequilla smooth as butter
He didn't say in history he said currently so of the current crop of when Napoles was fighting in the 60's and 70's he thought he was the top dog. I'm sure Robinson would say Pep, Joe Louis etc.
@@hanzagod just what I read

Mantequilla Napoles era Cubano?
Nacido en Cuba, criado en México, por eso se dice que es cubano-mexicano
@@zero1u19 El no se crió en México, el ya se fue de hombre pa México por el demonio de Castro y el comunismo.
Definitely top 5 all time at 147 lbs not bad at 160 either came up short against monzon look at that footwork
Man! What a master boxer! 💯🥊🥊505NUEVO
Don Ramón
Should have never fought Monzon!
Money talks!
Funny. The greatest Mexican boxer of all time is NOT even a Mexican but a Cuban.
