Kensington is an indie rock band from the Netherlands - they're still waiting for their big break (they've been around for more than 15 years now) but they're consistently getting better with every album released. Their music is just catchy and well-structured but it's the lyrics that really made me pay attention: to me they're the band for adult emo kids (yes, if you loved "The Black Parade" and had some serious eyeliner issues then I'm talking about you!). Poetic without being too abstract, going for the feels but not in a way that will pummel you to the ground with sadness.
Honestly, I'm really glad the monstrosities that are my Spotify playlists are producing some less-known stuff for you to experience! And I just wanted to say that I appreciate what you do here, and the insights you're not afraid to share with us.
When I was a young boy... Oh yeah, I'll call myself an adult emo kid. Loved MCR back in the day and the whole post hardcore scene too. I really enjoyed this song also. Thank you!
Oh, this was a pleasant surprise. 😊 I found Kensington a few months ago. I like their sound, especially in the song "Streets". This was a welcome end for this hard day. ❤️

Never heard of this group. I'm a speed/death metal guy but I kinda like this. Vocals are strong and the writing is good.
Oh boy, you discovered a gem. They sound incredible live too, I am lucky to have seen them 3 times before this pandemic madness started. Sadly this last album was launched in Nov 2019 and they only got to do a few live shows to promote it before it all stopped. Their European tour was just cancelled after being postponed twice, my tickets are useless now. This last album is so introspective, very different from their earlier works. They have a tradition to record each album in a different city, this one was recorded in Vancouver. They stayed in a cabin deep in the woods of Canada. Their style can be categorized as indie-alternative but they combine also a few electronic elements.
I am a hardcore fan of theirs and I recommend to watch them live as well. They have massive shows filmed in their home country, at Ziggo Dome or Johann Cruijff Arena. The recommendation with "Island" official video is a great one, I love it so much.
After all those months listening to this song and figuring out where the song is about i finally know what the leadsinger meant with the lyrics after he told he is leaving the band !
I absolutely love Kensington. I found them about a year ago and I adore many of their songs! I love how it's quite hard to pinpoint their genre/style, and I love how thoughtfully written their lyrics are, aswell as the harmonies and choice of chords.

Every year there’s a 12 day during concert (devided over different days) in the Ahoy concerthall in Rotterdam that’s called “Vrienden van Amstel Live” (Friends of Amstel Live (Amstel = beer brand)), where the top of Dutch artists entertain 160.000 people. My “request” is: please react to a 16 minutes performance of 2 of the TOP-bands from the Netherlands who played together, singing well known covers. These bands are Di-Rect and Kensington. You should really watch some live preformances by them. Maybe from Amsterdam Arena. There is a whole sequence of live preformances from their best songs!
There are some indy rock elements in the songs of Kensington. But they are a league of their own, def one of the best bands in The Netherlands. Great reaction.
